Under the Dome is all over Southport today. Locations include the riverfront as well as a clinic on Fondale Rd.
Local, brilliant filmmaker Craig Thieman’s independent film, Love Letter has added Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses/The Devil’s Rejects to the cast. He arrived yesterday in Wilmington. Other cast members of the Comedy / Horror include Wil Daniels, Sara Tomko, Nate Panning, Julia Lehman and Simon Crist. Love Letter is based on the short film of the same name that Thieman shot many years ago for a local film festival. What’s it about? Well, this about sums it up: “Garrett’s got a case of writer’s block. It turns out writing the perfect suicide note is not as easy as you might think. And it’s even harder when you’re writing it for an ex-girlfriend you’ve got tied up in your garage who, even though she totally deserves what she’s getting, unfairly refuses to sign the letter. Things get more awkward when people start showing up and stubbornly refuse to die. It sucks, but Garrett may just have to kill everyone.”
The short film was hilarious, plus Craig Thieman is an amazing filmmaker, so I expect nothing less than awesome when all is said and done. Inspire Productions was able to fund the film through Kickstarter.
Another movie coming to Wilmington? I do believe! Folks from the low budget movie, Riverguard, have been doing some preliminary location scouting. The flick is a courtroom drama, based on a true story. The production team is reaching out to Sam Shepard for the lead.
That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am. Got scoop? Email me: firstname.lastname@example.org. Until then, that’s a wrap!
