Happy Monday morning to you!  Not too much to report today, filming wise.  I can tell you that Under the Dome will be on the lot for the day, so no action on the streets today.  Here’s the teaser.  The series premieres on CBS June 24th!

The trailer is out for Arthur Newman, golf pro starring Colin Firth and Emily Blunt.  A story of a man who fakes his own death and assumes a new identity in order to escape his life, who then moves in with a woman who is also trying to leave her past behind.

The flick has a limited release April 26th.

peter jurasikOur own Peter Jurasik is in the film. And that’s not all Peter Jurasik was up to.  You get to see him in the movie, 42, which opened this past weekend and scored the best opening day ever for a baseball flick with $27.2 million.  So, yeah Peter!  We love you!

WECT’s Ashley Kosikowski did a nice story on a couple of LA actors who have moved here and opened an actors school here called the Actor’s Arsenal.

That just about does it for me. I’ll have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHERE DOES HOLLYWOOD DINE IN WILMINGTON?

I blogged about this a couple of weeks ago, but it was blended with other news.  Based on the amount of views it is still receiving, I decided to make it a stand alone blog.  So, here we go, where does Hollywood dine in Wilmington?

Actor Tim Guinee from NBC’s Revolution told me one of his favorites was “Manna” (123 Princess St.) in downtown Wilmington.  If fact, the entire Revolution cast can agree on “Manna.”  Tim also said he really enjoys the “Flying Pi Kitchen” (402 Chestnut St.) just down the street.

Brunch at “The Basics” (319 N Front St) is a MUST downtown for the stars especially the day after a long overnight shoot!  If you drive just outside of downtown you will find a restaurant called, “Rx” ( 421 Castle St.).  This seems to be one the favorites for cast members of Under the Dome.

Sushi is also a common favorite among the stars.  And three local hot spots made Hollywood taste buds sing!  If you remember not long ago, “Yo Sake” ( 31 South Front Street) was practically a second home to the cast of One Tree Hill.  “Nikki’s” downtown location ( 221 N Front St.) is another hot spot as well as popular for sushi TO GO!

Not all the favorites were in the downtown area, however.  Director Casey LaScala (The Remaining/Donnie Darko) enjoyed heading to the Wrightsville Beach area.  He was a regular at the “Bento Box” (1121 Military Cutoff Rd.).

Actor Dean Norris as well as actresses, Rachelle LeFevre and Sharon Lawrence all agree that  local favorite “Catch” (6623 Market St) is a MUST DINE restaurant.  Then again, when you have a chef like Keith Rhodes, who wouldn’t LOVE IT!  If you missed it, check him out on Season 9 of Bravo’s Top Chef!  Rachelle, by the way, is also a fan of “Dixie Grill” (116 Market St.) & she says the best Sunday fried chicken is at “Cracker Barrel” (21 Van Campen Blvd).

Where have you seen the stars dining?  Post your comments below.  I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Also,  gotta good Thai recipe?  post it below! Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 04/12/13 – Nicholas Sparks, Jim Carrey, Lorne Michaels headed to Wilmywood?

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD

Lots of exciting news today!  First things first, however.  Under the Dome will be filming later today on 15th St and also on the lot. They are shooting some interior scenes, so not too much to see as a bystander.

Okay, I can’t take it anymore!  Gotta dish the latest rumors!  First, Nights in Rodanthe, then Safe Haven and now it looks as though our New Bern native, Nicholas Sparks, is returning for the drama/romance, The Best of Me.  The adaptation dives into the lives of  a pair of former high school sweethearts who reunite after many years when they return to visit their small hometown.   The brilliant and beautiful Denise DiNovi is set to produce. Michael Hoffman is in talks to direct.  Loving the love, Nicholas!  Thank you for sticking with your hometown posse!

The excitement continues even though there is a bit of a delay.  Yes, Christmas will have to wait as Loomis Fargo has been pushed to August.  Jim Carrey stars in this comedy flick about a night guard at an armored car company in the Southern U.S. who organizes one of the biggest bank heists in American history.  Interestingly enough, one of the screenwriters is Danny McBride who is currently hanging out were in Wilmywood shooting his HBO show, Eastbound and Down.  Other notable players attached are Lorne Michaels (Producer) and Jody Hill (screenwriter for Eastbound and Down).  Jared Hess will direct.  Loomis Fargo is looking for a release date in 2014.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you Monday morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am on Sunny 104.5.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 04/11/13 – Dan Aykroyd looks to join cast of Tammy

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD

LISTEN TO PODCAST

Let’s start off with who is filming where.  Under the Dome will be on the lot for the first half of the day, then head over to Chestnut St for some interior shots.  Yeah, quite a short list now, but it’s gonna get super busy in a few weeks.

Now onto the most anticipated big budget film so far this year.  Tammy starring Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates has added Mark Duplass, Allison Janney and the legendary Dan Aykroyd to the cast.

McCarthy plays as a fast food restaurant employee who, after finding out her husband is cheating on her, she quits her job and sets out on a journey to Mount Rushmore to “find herself”.  She gets stuck with her “alcoholic, foul-mouthed, diabetic” grandmother (Sarandon) who insists on making the trip as well.

Duplass plays a man that McCarthy meets on the trip, spawning a strange relationship, while Aykroyd is playing Duplass’ father and Janney will play McCarthy’s mother.

And once again if you are looking to be an extra on this comedy, they will begin taking submissions within the next two weeks.  I, of course, will give you the info you need when I am allowed to tell you.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Under the Dome will be filming in Southport today.

Tammy, the big budget flick starring Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates is still in pre-production.  But if you are looking to be an extra on this comedy, they will begin taking submissions within the next two weeks.  I, of course, will give you the info you need when I am allowed to tell you.

Plus, I’ve got more scoop for ya on this movie,  really really big news actually, but I will reveal that tomorrow.  Wow, I totally did a Ryan Seacrest on ya there, didn’t I?  I will tell you…after the break!

But I digress…

The lovely Cassie Foss at the Star News solved the mystery yesterday, about the pilot looking to shoot here in June.  It’s coming from the Fox network.  Wild Blue is about a group of men and women working aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.  So far they have been scouting the Coty Inc. plant in Rocky Point.  It stars Mykelti Williamson (Bubba of Forrest Gump) as Master Chief Donald Bowman along with Josh Salatin, Will Rothhaar, Alano Miller and Gina Rodriguez.

The show will follow a group of young working sailors aboard a battleship.  Hey Fox, we got one of those!  Just sayin’!   No word whether a location scout have been to the USS North Carolina.

Still not counting out Dolph Lundgren’s Rescue 3 coming here yet.

UNCW Seahawks one more day to win a contest that would bring  actors Seth Rogen and Craig Robinson to campus for an advanced screening of the comedy This is the End, which will hit theaters in June.

The web site Eventful is hosting a contest for the celebs to show up at the college with the most online demands

The contest ends tomorrow.  VOTE HERE.   UNCW is in second place, only behind the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Tickets are officially on sale!  Ironman 3 – filmed right here in Wilmington and the surrounding area will open in local cinemas on May 3 in three different formats, including 3D and IMAX.  Of course they will have the midnight showings as well.   Purchase your tickets now from Fandango!

At Regal Cinemas, you can see the film in IMAX for $15.75 or in 3-D for $13.75. Or, do the marathon!  Watch all three Iron Man films back-to-back for $35.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Post your comments below or if you got some scoop, send it my way:  sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!
