June 20, 2013 – Wilmington Mayor Billy Saffo hands Stephen King a key to the city during the Under The Dome Red Carpet Premiere

The red carpet came alive last night as about 90 % of the cast came out and celebrated with the locals at the Under The Dome Red Carpet Premiere.  We have tons of video footage and photos.  As soon as I can put it all together I will be releasing it piece by piece starting today.  A HUGE thank you to C-G Productions (CG’s Website,   Twitter and Facebook) and David Pasqua for shooting the event!  They were amazing!  Check out all the photos from the event:

Our handsome Mayor Billy Saffo greeted the crowd and read the proclamation, honored Stephen King with a key to the city, then  declared June 24th Dome Day!  The Under the Dome folks are filming at Waterford in Leland, then move to stage for the rest of the night.

MsPennyDirectorToday is the last day on Tammy 😦  I will miss that cast big time!  But I have a feeling Miss Penny (Susan Sarandon’s angel) will miss Wilmington even more.  For their last hoorah, they will be on Blue Clay Road (between N. Kerr & N. College Rd.) and also 2610 N. 23rd Street.  Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon and the gang will be on set.  And finally, Mullet Alert: Eastbound and Down will be shooting on 21st and Chestnut today.

Sheila Brothers got a chance to chat and hang out with the cast, writers and producers of Under the Dome.  Photographer David Pasqua was on hand to capture the many moments.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 06/20/2013 Sleepy Hollow, Under the Dome, Eastbound and Down, Tammy

Tonight is the big night!  The HUGE Under the Dome Premiere in Wilmywood baby!  Thalian Hall will be starlit!  The ENTIRE cast is getting a pass to get out of filming to walk the red carpet and attend the event!!  That includes producers and writers too!  Jack Bender, Neal Baer, Brian K Vaughan and of course Stephen King!

ALL UNDER THE DOME TICKET WINNERS: CBS is insistent you must be in your seats by 6pm Thursday – OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR SEAT! Don’t be late!

With 4 days until the television premiere, the press is going nuts grabbing interviews left and right from the cast.  The Huffington Post continues it’s trend, this time they got a hold of Miss Rachelle LeFevre.  Here’s an excerpt:

What can you preview about her relationship with Barbie (Mike Vogel), since it seems like their paths cross fairly early on?
Well, I think they gravitate towards each other initially because neither of them is from there. Both of them are outsiders — him more than her — but certainly, that’s something they have in common immediately. Energetically, it kind of differentiates them. Everyone else, they’ve all lived together, grown up together. They’re going to stay there. Neither Barbie nor I feel that way about this place. So we’re unique in that nobody wants to be trapped, but they’re at least trapped at home and we’re not. And so that gives us something immediately in common … There is a strong chemistry there and a strong curiosity about one another, you know, “Who are you and why are you here?”

Rachelle isn’t the only one getting some love.  Dean Norris was awesome as usual on Jimmy Kimmel Tuesday night.  Did you see it?  Got the links for you!  Dean Norris on Jimmy Kimmel Live

MsPenny_tweetYesterday I told you about the flames and explosions that were taking place on the set of Tammy.  Well, Miss Penny Lane tweeted a photo of what went down.  Today Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Mark Duplass and Sandra Oh head to LA baby!  Leland that is.  They are off the the Leland House off Lincoln Rd.

Eastbound and Down will be at two locations today.  Just off N. Kerr Ave and at Market/Cardinal at Stevenson Direct.  I caught up with the incredibly talented actor, Cullen Moss, after he did a stint this week on EBD, and did multiple scenes with Danny McBride.

Still from "The Heroes of Arvine Place"

Still from “The Heroes of Arvine Place”

He’s going to be in the first episode of season 4, playing the general manager of a business, who has an antagonistic relationship with Kenny Powers.  “This will be my only episode, as far as I know, Cullen said.  “I had so much damn fun! We did the scenes as scripted, and then were given chances to use alternate lines and go off on lengthy improvised tangents. That kind of spontaneously creative atmosphere that they’re able to provide is invaluable. In addition to the actors being given that freedom, the writers and the director (Jody Hill) are there, fine-tuning and tweaking the dialogue every moment. It was a completely creative, vitalizing, and affirming experience. I’m hoping they’ll find a way to get me back in the mix later in the season.”

Pre-Production is going swimmingly for Sleepy Hollow and they are still accepting resumes for crew positions.  There are just a handful of positions available, i.e. Set PA, Art PA, and possible assistant to the director.  I am sure there are a few more, so go for it!  BUT be prepared, I would highly recommend to apply ONLY if you are a night owl.  I’ve heard there will be a lot of overnights shoots of this series.   Get your resumes in: sleepyhollowseason1@gmail.com.  As far as extras casting goes, there is speculation, but there is no official word on who has signed on the dotted line for that position.  I will be able to reveal that to you in the next 2 weeks.  Production begins in late July!  Bring it!

Check out the latest promo for Sleepy Hollow that came out this week!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 06/19/2013 – Under the Dome, Eastbound and Down, Tammy, Planters Peanuts

Totally excited about tomorrow’s Red Carpet Premiere of Under the Dome!  Wooo Hoo!  Okay, sorry, had to get that out!  The Domies are shooting on 15th St., then they head back to the lot for the remainder of the day.  The Huffington Post released their next big article.  This time they try to break the bad Dean Norris!  Here’s an excerpt from the article:

What are the most important things to know about Big Jim Rennie, for those who aren’t familiar with the book?
Big Jim, he’s a great character. He loves his town, but I think he’s probably, at some level, psychopathic. He likes to be in charge. Stephen King told me I was Dick Cheney. [Big Jim’s] reading Winston Churchill’s biography in the story … And everybody else is freaked out by the dome and Big Jim seems to be like, “Wow, my time has come.” He’s fun because … he’s the only one that interacts with every other character. They have their own things, the groupings and people that interact, but Big Jim interacts with all of them and he interacts differently with all of them because he has a different personality …

Your next Mullet Alert for Eastbound and Down will be at Carolina Farmin’ on Market St.

Planter’s Peanuts is filming their national spot today at Port City Church, 250 Vision Dr., they will move to the Convention Center tomorrow.

Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates get to have all the fun today because fires will be a blazin’ on the set of Tammy.  The scene takes place on McRae between Brunswick and Bess and it includes a car pulling up beside a parked RV and as the three characters exchange dialogue, one of them pours gasoline on the car then throws a lit bottle of gasoline at the car – car explodes into flames.  haha!  Awesome.  No worries, the set is being closely monitored by the Wilmington Fire Department at all times).  There will also be a driving scene on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.  Heads up, sadly, Tammy’s stint in Wilmywood ends this Friday!  I will be a sad day indeed!

BIG CBS LOVE takes viewers ‘under the dome’ in India on June 28, 2013

BIG CBS LOVE takes viewers ‘under the dome’ in India on June 28, 2013

This just in from Mumbai: BIG CBS LOVE, India’s number one English GEC amongst elite urban Indian audiences, is all set to participate in a global television event with the launch of a brand-new show, ‘Under The Dome’. The 13-episode series, based on author Stephen King’s best-selling novel of the same name, will launch simultaneously in several countries within the week. Featuring some of the biggest names in entertainment like Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Colin Ford and Brit Robertson among others the show has been produced by CBS Television Studios in association with popular Hollywood director Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. ‘Under The Dome’ will premier in India, exclusively on BIG CBS LOVE starting 28th June, 2013, every Friday at 10pm.

A serialized drama packed with thrill and excitement, Under The Dome is the story of a small town that is suddenly and unexplainably sealed off from the rest of the world as an enormous transparent dome descends on it. In the tale that ensues, the town’s inhabitants face issues like surviving in the post-apocalyptic condition in the town while trying to understand what the dome is, how it got there and how long it would take to go away. The show brings together four of the biggest names in international entertainment including not only novel’s author Stephen King but also executive producers Neal Baer and Brian K Vaughan who have previously worked on shows like Lost, ER and Law and Order: SVU, and director of the pilot episode Niels Arden Oplev who has also directed the original Swedish adaptation of the critically acclaimed movie Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. In India, Under the Dome will be promoted extensively using on-ground activations, digital innovations, print media and OOH bringing into play the media muscle of Reliance Broadcast Network and external media.

Mr. Anand Chakravarthy, Business Head – BIG CBS Network, said “‘Under The Dome’ is undoubtedly the biggest global television event this year and we are excited to be airing the show on BIG CBS LOVE concurrent to its US telecast. Based on the un-put-downable book by Stephen King, ‘Under The Dome’ on television has the makings of a blockbuster television show. There is already great anticipation for the show around the world and across social media platforms everYwhere. Another world class television show from CBS that will give audiences in India an exclusive and amazing entertainment treat. “

So I would like to personally thank Angie at CBS up in New York.  Not only is she making this incredible Under the Dome Red Carpet Premiere happen in Wilmington, but she also lined up interviews with the film commission here in Wilmington, in Southport and beyond to do stories with all the news outlets coming out for this event.  The interviews will involve the economic impact of filming in this area.  THIS IS HUGE!  This is exactly what those politicians that are against the film incentives need to hear, and those who live in those counties these representatives live in!  News crews are coming in from all over the region: Greenville, Greensboro, Raleigh, Myrtle Beach, Charlotte and they will be representing the bigger markets with their reporting reaching into Georgia, Florida, Maryland and beyond.

The Under the Dome  Red Carpet event is just two days away, the Worldwide television premiere in just 6!  And the closer we get, the more we uncover about the actors and their characters they play.  Mike Vogel talks about his anti-hero turned hero character “Barbie” in this Huffington Post article which came out yesterday. Here’s an excerpt.

“Barbie is a great guy. I love him. He’s a former Special Forces operator. He’s gotten out of the military and since then, he’s done a bunch of odd jobs, trying to find his spot and where he fits in.

He finds himself basically collecting debts for a bookie and nine times out of 10, it’s a nonviolent ordeal. He’s not a heavy that’s going around thumping on people, breaking kneecaps, [saying,] “Pay up. Pay up.” Normally, everyone’s willing. But he finds himself in some situations where he has to defend himself, which is sort of the catalyst which brings him into this town and he happens to find himself here when this event happens.

So he finds himself stuck in a position of having had to defend himself after a rather nefarious deed and stuck in a small town where word travels fast and everyone knows everyone. There’s a lot of stuff swirling in the first couple episodes, and what I like about the show is, judging by the opening of the show, someone might say, “Oh, Barbie, bad guy — Big Jim [played by Dean Norris], good guy.” But that’s not at all the case. And I enjoy that it takes time for everything to unravel here and that everything that you see is not what you’re getting.”

Barbie’s love interest Julia aka Rachelle LeFevre was on Craig Ferguson last night.  Here’s a link to last night’s interview.  Great interview!  But I have to say one of my favorite parts was when they showed a clip from the pilot, and who was there in the scene with Rachelle LeFevre and Mike Vogel?  Our local boy, Mike Rosander!  Woo Hoo!  Great job Mike!  The Domies will be back on Chestnut St today, then they will head back to the lot.

If any of the past shows speak of  Stephen King’s future, music will play a big role in this Summer series.  If you remember the soundtrack to Maximum Overdrive that was shot here in 1986, it was doused in AC/DC’.  “Who Made Who” is the official soundtrack (minus Roger Miller’s ‘King of the Road’), a film that has since become a cult classic .  He’s quite a fan of  rock and Americana.  I found an article that listed King’s Ultimate playlist from 2009.  So, of course it makes perfect sense that we have, Under the Dome Radio.

And finally, speaking of audio, there is much buzz about this!  Originally the UTD pilot contained sound bytes from President Obama in an Emergency Address to the nation about the situation with Chester’s Mill, but they decided to cut it.  Why? The audio they used came from remarks the President made in a speech about Hurricane Sandy.  According to the statement issued by CBS: “The scene cleared broadcast standards, but both Amblin TV and CBS had concerns about using actual audio in this specific fictional context.”  I agree. It’s a sensitive issue, and just like the did with Mike & Molly during the tornado tragedy, they did the right thing.

Your next Mullet sighting will be on Market Street.  Danny McBride and the crew of Eastbound and Down are shooting at Neuwirth  Auto Center all day today.  Here’s a clip from last week w/ TMZ asking Danny about his corn rows of the past.

This will be the last day for Tammy at the GORGEOUS house on Cabbage Inlet during the big 4th of July Bash.  On set today is Sandra Oh, Susan Sarandon, Melissa McCarthy

World, meet Chester’s Mill.

Chester’s Mill, meet World.

This is the first installment of my new blog. Why am I doing this? Because there are two things you need to know before you are really living:

1) Me. Joe McAlister.

2) The thriving, vibrant metropolis that is my hometown.

JK. I’m actually doing this because I’m bored. Because I live in Chester’s Mill, where 25 people stood around last weekend watching some dudes cut up the dead oak tree in Mrs. Moore’s yard. Because the highlight of everyone’s summer is climbing up to the top of the water tower, and then being ordered down by somebody’s dad.
