More  details are circulating about Season 2 of Under the Dome.  Rumor has it, they will be telling the crew at the end of the month.  Now I am curious to know if they will indeed continue the Summer trend or bring it back sooner.  The show is so hot, I dunno if the fans can wait for 10 months for more!  But we will find out soon enough!  The crew will be in Forest Hills this morning, then they move to the sound stage at Screen Gems, then a short trek to the back lot in the woods.  In the meantime as The San Diego Comic Con gets underway, the Under the Dome Comic Con poster was revealed yesterday!  I sooo want one!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/17/2013- Under the Dome, Eastbound and Down and more.

Under the Dome is holding steady in the ratings game!  Monday night’s episode garnered a 2.7 with overnight numbers listed as 10.8 million viewers.  Later in the day the numbers adjusted up to 11.13M!  Yay!  The show is holding strong! Apparently it also has a hold of teenage hearts because the show was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for “Choice Summer TV Show.”  The summer sensation is going up against “Teen Wolf”, “Pretty Little Liars”, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and “The Fosters.”  The award show airs Sunday, August 11th LIVE on Fox.  Teens can VOTE once a day!

Have you seen Bruce Willis guest stars on Under the Dome?  For those who missed it or just wanna see 5 more times, here’s the clip from David Letterman on Monday night!

JohnElvis9John Elvis who plays the character Ben on Under the Dome got auctioned off over the weekend all for a good cause, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  $800 was raised for a dinner date which took place last night at the restaurant, “9” downtown.  John got a 2 for 1 special as Elizabeth Singletary and Annie West Graham both wanted him!  Love it!  Thanks for helping out John!  Thank you to 9’s owner, Matt Schuler, and CF Foundation’s Susan Wasserman for organizing this date!  And thank you to Christine Poppe White for taking the great pics!   They had a great time! Fan John on Facebook!

Under the Dome is back in Burgaw today shooting at the hospital.  They begin shooting the final episode on Friday!  Booo!  I miss them already!

I reported this yesterday, but a friend was like, “Sheila don’t start getting all TMZ on us.  Reporting drama where there’s none.  I mean who hasn’t fell wearing roller skates.” Yeah, he was right.  This is actually a non-story.  So, I took down the “This Just In” story and saved it as a side note for today.  If you haven’t heard (I can’t imagine you haven’t) Danny McBride fell while roller skating.  There done!  For extra precaution they took him to Cape Fear Hospital.   I wonder if he signed a bedpan for them or something?

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Tuesday.  Man, Tuesdays officially make me crazy, now.  Thanks Under the Dome!  I always begin writing this blog at the buttcrack of dawn and then it never seems to be complete because Tuesdays are ratings day.  I sit here all antcy in my pantcy waiting for 11am EST to come!  Argh!  Well, such is life.  But we did get this in at six this morning.  Remember we had the pilot numbers at like 16.7 million.  Well they adjusted up!  AGAIN! Check out what CBS sent us this morning:

Another great episode last night the UTD folks we tweeting like mad.  I would like to especially point out that pig can now fly.  Yep, Alex Koch(Junior), who refuses to have a twitter account, is officially a half twit!  Jolene Purdy(Dodee) convinced him to LIVE tweet with her!  That woman has super powers!  I love her so much!!

UTD Script

Oh, and look what I got my hands on!  How would you like to own a piece of Under the Dome?  It could be your coming this September because we are gonna auction this beautiful autographed script during the Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon to benefit the new hospitality house.  More details to come!

WECT leaked the news yesterday.  Mary-Louise Parker will be our next star to head into Wilmywood  as Hallmark gets ready to roll for the TV movie, Christmas in Conway.  Production Begins August 5th.  We have some great local crew working on this one, including Emmy Young who was named as the Extras Casting Director last week.  Oh and FYI, Mary-Louise Parker will be on Kelly & Michael this morning.

peter jurasikOut on DVD today is 42.  You can see our very own amazing, Peter Jurasik.  I asked Peter when the movie was released what it was like to play such a controversial role, a racist in the movie 42.

“There is nothing more difficult in the process of playing a racist than playing anything else that you might have to play but have not experienced firsthand… like playing a homeless person or a less ( or more ) educated person than you — or in more extreme examples, playing a murderer, a pedophile, a abuser ( of drugs, alcohol, women ) or a terrorist. — I have tried to control people in my life, I have humiliated or belittled people in my life ( not proud of it, but true ). The actor takes the truth of his own experiences that intersect or cross with the experiences of the role as written… and if you can ‘ mix ‘ the two careful, you come up with a third entity called the character. A character who looks and sounds like you — whose emotions are fueled by your own experiences but speaks and acts like the person the author created when it was written. — Voila, I’m a racist.”

Very well said, Peter. You are a blessing to everyone in this community!

Looks like Eastbound and Down is taking over the fun parts of Oleander Drive.  The cast and crew heads over to Jellybeans today.  There will be over 100 extras in the skating rink.  With seven of the cast members, it looks to be a really fun day.

The Conjuring was shot here last year and it has finally arrived!  The reviews have been coming in for weeks now and the consensus is: THIS MOVIE IS GREAT AND WILL SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF YOU!  Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.  It’s based on the true story, so that always helps the fear factor.  I can’t wait!  It opens this Friday!  A lot of local actors landed some roles in this flick, so it gives us even more of a reason to see it.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/15/2013 The Weekend Afterglow

A great time was had over the weekend. Let’s start with the Pipeline to a Cure, the benefit to support Cystic Fibrosis.  We decided to auction off a date with Under the Dome’s John Elvis who came out to support.  We ended up raising $800.  Here’s some great photos from the night:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Toni Silvagni, our own surf hero here in Carolina Beach was honored on Saturday night, which means he didn’t get to go to the premiere party for The Perfect Summer that was shot here just a few months ago by Swirl Films.  But thank goodness they aired it multiple times over the weekend on the Up Network (TWC 283), so everyone got the chance to see it.  Have to give major kudos to Swirl for getting in some of the best establishing shots on our area.  Makes me wanna move there…oh wait…

1064036_10152992247495117_575935430_oSo, let’s flip back to Under the Dome real quick.  Episode 4 is tonight on CBS at 10pm.   As if living under the dome wasn’t already cruel enough, tonight Chester’s Mill is being hit with a meningitis outbreak, and to make matters worse the medical supplies are running low.

Don’t forget Live tweeting with the cast and producers at #UnderTheDome.   Or hang at the viewing party at Hell’s Kitchen downtown at 10pm.   The gang is shooting back in Currie, NC today.  They UTD4only have two more weeks of production before the cast heads to where ever they will go.  Still waiting for official word for a season two.  If that does indeed happen, we won’t have to miss the gang for too long.  The cast had another rambling weekend. Colin and Mackenzie joined Nick, Aisha, Rachelle, Dean, Jolene, John, Alex for dinner than all those over the age of 21 enjoyed the rest of the night downtown.

Finishing with some quickies, Michael Phelps was back in Wrightsville Beach over the weekend at The Yacht Club. Tomorrow, Eastbound and Down is shooting Union Missionary Baptist Church,  and Maides Park.

THIS JUST IN: Production plans reflect $250 million in spending, 25,000 job opportunities

NC Film Industry Remains Strong, Mid-Year Figures Show

NCFILM OFFICE

Production plans reflect $250 million in spending, 25,000 job opportunities

RALEIGH, N.C. — Six months into 2013, the North Carolina Film Office reports a production tally of $250 million in direct in-state spending and 25,000 job opportunities for North Carolinians.

As of July 1, more than 35 productions had filed “intent to film” forms indicating that they have filmed or will film in the Tar Heel State. The resulting activity accounts for more than 4,300 production days spread across at least 30 counties. The job opportunities include more than 3,000 crew positions for the state’s highly skilled film professionals, 1,000 well-paying talent opportunities and 21,000 background talent positions.

“North Carolina continues to be a preferred location in the film industry,” said North Carolina Film Office Director Aaron Syrett. “Our talented crew base, vast array of locations and the state’s tax incentive -while not the largest in the nation, it’s certainly the smartest – provide filmmakers and industry leaders the right mix for bringing their productions here and showcasing them to viewers worldwide.”

Television series have chalked up a large number of production days, starting with the final first-season episodes of the hit NBC series Revolution. Next came the pilot for Sleepy Hollow, which FOX Broadcasting Company picked up; the series begins filming its entire first season later this month in North Carolina. Returning series BansheeEastbound & Down and the multi-award winner Homeland were joined by the CBS summer breakout series Under the Dome. In addition, several reality series have been shooting in the state.

In regard to films, the studio feature Tammy recently wrapped its production while the independent features Careful What You Wish ForThe RemainingAn Evergreen ChristmasThe World Made Straight and Grass Stains have all hired North Carolina film professionals and talent during their production.

Made-for-television movies including The Ultimate LifeThe Perfect Summer and Norman Rockwell’s Shuffleton’s Barbershop have also used North Carolina as their backdrop. In addition, national commercials for Fiat, PepsiCo, Planters Peanuts and NASCAR have been filmed in the state.

The mid-year figures are a strong follow-up to 2012’s record-breaking year-end totals, which showed more than $376 million in direct in-state spending over 4,100 production days. The activity created nearly 20,000 job opportunities, including more than 4,100 crew positions.

Over the past five years (and before 2013), productions have had a direct in-state spend of more than $1 billion. The state has seen a sharp increase in production since 2010, when lawmakers passed bi-partisan legislation that increased the refundable tax credit to 25 percent on all goods and services purchased from North Carolina vendors and for wages paid to those performing work in the state. Productions must spend at least $250,000 in the state to qualify for the tax credit, which is given back only after productions have completed their in-state spend and the North Carolina Department of Revenue has performed an audit.

The North Carolina Film Office is part of the state Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development within the Department of Commerce. Its primary responsibilities are to recruit productions to North Carolina by marketing the state’s assets, which include the film incentive, the crew base, established infrastructure and locations statewide. The NCFO also assists productions with securing permits and handling other logistics and works hand-in-hand with film commissions in the Wilmington, Research Triangle, Piedmont Triad, Charlotte and Western regions.
