WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/11/2013 Another movie coming to town, See the Dome hitting Chestnut St!

Gotta give some kudos to Star News’ Cassie Foss!  She has uncovered some more great filmmaking coming up in the area.  Winston-Salem based, Inspirata Films is producing But Now I See which is about the life of John Newton, whose conversion from slave trader to  pastor helped him write the famous song, “Amazing Grace.”  They will be  shooting in our area the first week of August.  Bald Head Island and  Oak Island will be standing in for Plantain Island and Fort Macon near  Atlantic Beach will be transformed into the Kittim fort, the center for  slave trade. The film stars newcomers, Erik Nelson and Edison Skinner.   John Jackman is directing.  They are expecting a February release on  DVD.   Read Cassie’s complete story.

ChestnutStDomeUnder the Dome is super busy today with two crews running.  They will be filming on Brookwood Ave off Market St. as well as on the lot and possibly in Currie, NC.   And have you seen Chestnut Street recently?  It has been hit by the dome!  Check it out!  How cool is that!

Eastbound and Down is shooting on Masonboro Road.  There’s a big scene today with over 100 extras!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/10/2013

Good Morning!  The numbers are in and Under the Dome is STILL #1 baby!  The numbers dipped slightly by 7% but still held a large enough audience to crush the competition with 10.6 million viewers.  They were not only #1 in their time slot, but #1 for the night! Which I will definitely place money on a season two. We should find out this week if that is true.

The folks under the dome will be shooting at Screen Gems today.  I wanted to give a huge thank you to Wayne Henderson and Troy Heinritz, two great guys who produce the “Under the Dome Radio Podcast.” I recently spent some time with them discussing the show, revealing a few locations and hyping up our NC film incentives along with our crew.  Take a listen when you can.

Also, guess who popped in the studio yesterday?  Cutie pie, John Elvis, who plays the character Ben!  We had a great time talking about life under the dome, his relationships with the cast and for the girls who have a crush on him, whether he is single or taken!   Check out his entire interview now!

As soon as Sleepy Hollow begins productions, Christmas in Conway is not far behind!  Production begins for the Hallmark Movie around August 5th.  They don’t have the Extras Casting director finalized as of yet, but I will let you know!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/09/2013

Good Morning!  Another great episode for Under the Dome.  Actually, I think it was the best one yet!  I will be posting the overnight numbers for Episode 3 after 11am, so hang on.  These numbers are likely to determine if indeed there will be a season two.  Which means, according to my sources, the cast will leave us for only 6-8 weeks before they would return to Wilmington.  John Elvis who plays Ben, the skateboarding life loving friend to Joe will be in the Sunny  studio today.  I will air it tomorrow morning on What’s Up in Wilmywood at 7:30am and 8:30am on Sunny 104.5.

Also the Under the Dome Radio guys and I chat on today’s podcast talking about Under the Dome, Wilmywood and the film community.  They will post that later today.

Today the folks will be in Southport they will be shooting on  Howe St.,  Lord St.,  and E Bay St.   I would finally like to welcome Mare Winningham (Agatha) and Natalie Zea (Maxine) to the cast!  Better late than never!  Maybe you will see them in Southport today.  The cast just keeps getting better!

PerfectSummerSydney Penny will be on  the show “Home and Family” today on the Hallmark Channel chatting about The Perfect Summer that was shot here just a few months ago.  The movie airs this Saturday night on the Up Network which is on Time Warner Cable channel 283 at 7pm ans 11pm

No big news for Eastbound and Down as they are super closed mouthed about EVERYTHING!  But I can say they are shooting at Trask Lake all day today.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/08/2013 – It’s Dome Day once again!

It’s Dome Day once again, so either watch Under the Dome at 10pm tonight or set your DVRs!  And you know where to go for the viewing party.  Hell’s Kitchen is the place to be.  Some of the stars show up for the weekly event, you never know who is going to be there.  If you are a fan of John Elvis who plays the character Ben, he’s a regular, so stop on by and say hello!  Tonight is his big scene showing off his mad skating skills.  What were the stars up to this weekend? Rachelle LeFevre spent some time in Charleston over the weekend at the Market Pavilion Hotel and was especially entranced with their down home,  southern food.   Looks like Mackenzie Lintz went back to her homestate of MidnightRamblersGeorgia to hang with some of her besties.  Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong  and Alex Koch aka the Midnight Ramblers as they call themselves, rambled all over Wilmington.  Nicholas said they were at the beach, the pool, they barbequed, even had a dinner party set to Sinatra.  Here’s a pic they tweeted over the weekend.

Only a few days left to win a map of Chester’s Mill & a signed copy of #UnderTheDome by Stephen King! Enter now!

Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover fame, was hanging with some local friends at Topsail Beach over the weekend.  Did you see him?  I wonder if he is as ADD in real life as he is on the show.  No matter, he is sooo adorable!

Eastbound and Down is  shooting on Tabor Lane just off N Kerr Ave today.  There’s a casting call for Wednesday’s shoot from NCasting: EASTBOUND & DOWN: “This will work Wednesday.  I need 5 Mexican males ages 18 and up. Please spread the word!!! Have them email me a CURRENT photograph with the following information – NAME, AGE, HEIGHT/WEIGHT,
PHONE # ebdextras@gmail.com

Excitement is filling the air as we gear up for Sleepy Hollow.  They begin production in two weeks. As far as casting goes for the Fox show, I do know they will be looking for Revolutionary War re-actors really soon. I will keep you posted or you can check for more details at Revo Casting Calls on Facebook.”

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/05/2013

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Where were the stars celebrating? Well, wherever Eastbound and Down cast members celebrated, they got an extended weekend.  They won’t be shooting until Monday on Fremont St.  The Under the Dome folks are shooting in Burgaw today.  Rachelle LeFevre spent her time in Wrightsville Beach.  She was looking for someone with a boat.  Hopefully she found someone!  Other cast members also had a great time on the 4th.

dean norris ‏@deanjnorris “Grilling meat. Wrightsville Beach. A shit ton of explosives. Yeah, this ain’t CA we will be blowing shit up!! I love America. Happy 4th”
.
Jolene Purdy@jojopurdy “Party crashing on the 4th with the ramblers @1NicholasStrong #alexkoch
.
John Elvis (who plays Ben) was also out with the crazy kids! They spent their time pretty much all over Wilmington! There’s still a lot of questions about how the dome works.  So, here’s what we know so far.

Under the Dome had monster numbers last week in which it became CBS’s highest rated summer premiere  since 2005.  Under the Dome was also the highest rated program among adults 18-49 and with with Total Viewers for the week of June 24-30.  Will we see a season two? It’s all about the numbers.  Let’s see how Under the Dome fared last night!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/02/2013 – Christmas comes early in Wilmywood!

Hallmark Movie Channel

Another movie coming to Wilmington would be like Christmas coming early, right?  Well, according to my sources, it is.  And they have the offices to prove it. The Hallmark Movie, Christmas in Conway has set up shop at the 1200 building on 23rd St.  They’ve been scouting around the area including downtown and its surrounding neighborhoods.  Brent Shields is Executive Producer, John Kent Harrison is directing, Ronnie Yeskel and Sharon Howard-Field are doing principal castingI will keep you posted!

Well, yesterday I found out tours for Screen Gems won’t happen as soon as August, in fact it is still TBD at the moment, BUT there are BIG PLANS FOR THE BACKLOT – and it’s going to be HUGE!  Looks like 17+ buildings going up recreating colonial times for Sleep Hollow!  This will Screen Gemsbe the biggest set we have had yet on the back lot at Screen Gems!  And you know what that means?  It means money in our vendor’s pockets!  Paint stores, lumber, hardware, you name it!  Keep the Wilmington economy going, Sleepy Hollow!!  Production begins at the end of the month.

WECT picked up on this fun story!  27 year old Rachel Spalding will be one of 16 cast members on a new reality show called Summer Camp on USA Network.  They will compete for a chance to win $250,000.  The show premieres Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m

While, I am waiting rather impatiently for Episode 2’s numbers, the encore of the pilot for Under the Dome grabbed 5.12 million viewers giving it the most viewers in its time slot and 3rd place overall for Sunday night!  I know Under the Dome’s final ratings count of 16.6million views last week is going to be hard to beat, but as long as the numbers are still double digits, we should indeed see a second season announcement.  :::::biting fingernails:::::  The Under the Dome folks are shooting at the farm again in Currie, NC.  Thanks for the pic, Sandie!
