Let the testing begin! We’ve got a few choice actors and actresses fighting for two top notch roles in the upcoming flick, Max Steel, soon to be shot here in Wilmywood. Of course, the top spot is Max himself. And as for the female role, The Tracking Board reports it is currently listed as “undisclosed.”
Anyhow, from left to right, here are the contenders ladies and gentleman! Dylan Minnette (“Prisoners”, “Lost”), Ben Winchell (“Necessary Roughness”), and Noah Silver (“The Borgias”) are testing to play Max. For the undisclosed female role both Skyler Day (“Parenthood”, “Ironside”) and Skyler Samuels (“The Nine Lives of Chloe King”, “The Gates”) are in the running. Who do you think will be heading to Wilmywood?

An Indiegogo campaign had begun for the short film Times Like Dying. Lemme just say, they had me at Evan Vetter, who is in my personal top 5 favorite filmmakers in Wilmington. Of course he’s is teaming up with some other very loved filmmakers as well: Shon Blotzer, Anthony Reynolds and Parrish Stikeleather. You’re money will be very well spent with these guys involved. So, spot them a 5 or so. You will be glad you did! Times Like Dying is a 20-minute narrative short film set in the Post-Civil War South involving a man named Percy Dixon and his brothers who are stuck with no good options. They are facing the loss of their family farm and backed into a corner. They decide the only way to save their livelihood is to rob a bank. After the robbery, the Dixon clan become separated, but rendezvous at a small farm where they have a chance encounter with a lawman who has seen better days. Over the course of the night, the truth of their actions is discovered. Loyalties are tested. Hostages are taken. Surviving the night begins to outweigh saving the farm.
