Dear Governor McCrory:
My name is Dale Williams and I am a twenty-five year employee of the North Carolina film and television industry. I am currently employed as a Production Manager on a major network television series in the Wilmington region.
Today, there are seven productions in the Wilmington area: two television series, one television pilot, and four feature films. Additionally, other projects are shooting in the Charlotte region while more are scouting locations in other parts of the State as well. The film and television industry in North Carolina is doing well. However, with the film incentive set to expire in eight months, all of these current clients will not consider additional business in our State beyond December 31. As you might imagine, this is of great concern to approximately four thousand residents of our State who are full time workers in this industry.
On behalf of the film workers in the Wilmington region, I am respectfully requesting an opportunity for the workers to meet with you in Wilmington or Raleigh to discuss their future in our State. I look forward to your response.
Unit Production Manager
Dale, you are so loved in this town! Thank you for leading the way! Also, I posted an article earlier this morning from a station owner in Greensboro who attended the rally.
“I was totally amazed at the outpouring of community support at the Wilmington Film Rally. I have covered rallies for over 20 years and never seen the togetherness of the film workers and the local government leaders at any event.” READ MORE NOW
