Jack Bender’s Art Show w/ Under the Dome Cast

We’ve talked about it all week, and IMPO it was better than expected.  And that’s saying a lot. Robbie McKeithan did a PHENOMENAL job putting it all together! A beautiful art show last night at The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery (200 Hanover St.) in downtown Wilmington. EP/Director/Artist Jack Bender just needs a simple title.  Creative.  Whether its imagining for film or canvas, he is a brilliant man.  A great crowd  assembled and mingled throughout the evening – a lot of NC Film crew members and many of the cast members of Under the Dome:   Mackenzie Lintz, Colin Ford, Alex Koch, John Elvis, Nicholas Strong as well as  newcomers Karla Chrome and Grace Victoria Cox paid a visit as well.  Here’s some fun photos from the event!

HUMP DAAAYYY!!!  Good Morning Wilmywood!

UTD4Under the Dome is back on the sound stages today.  Shooting multiple scenes means the stars are a buzz at Screen Gems.  Our new Domies Eddie Cahill and Karla Crome join our original Chester’s Mill gang on set including Mike Vogel,  Aisha Hinds, Rachelle LeFevre, Alex Koch, Dean Norris, Britt Robertson...well pretty much all of our favorites!  WELCOME BACK!

Our new members Sherry Stringfield and Grace Victoria Cox will be heading to Wilmywood super soon.   Welcome to the Chester’s Mill Family!

ABC’s Secrets and Lies is back in Porters Neck again today, look forward to more hotness, Ryan Phillippe is back on set.  And speaking of which, the social butterfly that is producer Aaron Kaplan is back to tweeting shots from set…

Bill-Cosby1Bill Cosby‘s “Far From Finished Tour” at Odell Williamson Auditorium is sold out for the 7pm show, BUT are now on sale for a 3:30pm matinee on April 6th! Tickets prices $67 & $77 (Plus applicable service fees and NC sales tax) GET TICKETS NOW.  Still to this day, his comedy show Himself is my all time favorite.   And I think so many who grew up in the 80s look to The Cosby Show for a little parenting school.  So brilliant!

sarahjones2More articles are coming out about camera assistant, Sarah Jones.  The Hollywood Reporter wrote a few articles, but a warning, some are absolutely heartbreaking.

1) Producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan also found a way to help the Academy acknowledge Sarah Jones, the camera operator whose death has raised the issue of set safety, in the broadcast, which was greeted with an uptick in ratings. READ NOW

2) The parents of the young camera assistant killed in the train accident on the Georgia set of “Midnight Rider,” as well as an injured hairstylist who survived it, reveal harrowing and graphic new details. “I saw my life, my kids, my family, all of it before me,” says the hairstylist. “I was sure I was going to die.” READ NOW

3) Exclusive Interview With Parents of ‘Midnight Rider’ Victim Sarah Jones: Elizabeth, tells THR, “A dollar mark cannot be put on stealing a shot at the risk of someone’s life.” READ NOW

SarahSlate2The folks at pledgetosarah.org are asking you to Take the Pledge! This is not about crews, or cast, or production, or us, or them,” it states.  “It’s about everyone on a production. Be safe and be aware. No exceptions. Safety is the responsibility we accept every time we step on a set and it only works if we all have each other’s backs – because no one wants to have to explain to a friend’s loved one why they didn’t speak up.”  TAKE THE PLEDGE NOW

Tuesday.  Man, Tuesdays officially make me crazy, now.  Thanks Under the Dome!  I always begin writing this blog at the buttcrack of dawn and then it never seems to be complete because Tuesdays are ratings day.  I sit here all antcy in my pantcy waiting for 11am EST to come!  Argh!  Well, such is life.  But we did get this in at six this morning.  Remember we had the pilot numbers at like 16.7 million.  Well they adjusted up!  AGAIN! Check out what CBS sent us this morning:

Another great episode last night the UTD folks we tweeting like mad.  I would like to especially point out that pig can now fly.  Yep, Alex Koch(Junior), who refuses to have a twitter account, is officially a half twit!  Jolene Purdy(Dodee) convinced him to LIVE tweet with her!  That woman has super powers!  I love her so much!!

UTD Script

Oh, and look what I got my hands on!  How would you like to own a piece of Under the Dome?  It could be your coming this September because we are gonna auction this beautiful autographed script during the Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon to benefit the new hospitality house.  More details to come!

WECT leaked the news yesterday.  Mary-Louise Parker will be our next star to head into Wilmywood  as Hallmark gets ready to roll for the TV movie, Christmas in Conway.  Production Begins August 5th.  We have some great local crew working on this one, including Emmy Young who was named as the Extras Casting Director last week.  Oh and FYI, Mary-Louise Parker will be on Kelly & Michael this morning.

peter jurasikOut on DVD today is 42.  You can see our very own amazing, Peter Jurasik.  I asked Peter when the movie was released what it was like to play such a controversial role, a racist in the movie 42.

“There is nothing more difficult in the process of playing a racist than playing anything else that you might have to play but have not experienced firsthand… like playing a homeless person or a less ( or more ) educated person than you — or in more extreme examples, playing a murderer, a pedophile, a abuser ( of drugs, alcohol, women ) or a terrorist. — I have tried to control people in my life, I have humiliated or belittled people in my life ( not proud of it, but true ). The actor takes the truth of his own experiences that intersect or cross with the experiences of the role as written… and if you can ‘ mix ‘ the two careful, you come up with a third entity called the character. A character who looks and sounds like you — whose emotions are fueled by your own experiences but speaks and acts like the person the author created when it was written. — Voila, I’m a racist.”

Very well said, Peter. You are a blessing to everyone in this community!

Looks like Eastbound and Down is taking over the fun parts of Oleander Drive.  The cast and crew heads over to Jellybeans today.  There will be over 100 extras in the skating rink.  With seven of the cast members, it looks to be a really fun day.

The Conjuring was shot here last year and it has finally arrived!  The reviews have been coming in for weeks now and the consensus is: THIS MOVIE IS GREAT AND WILL SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF YOU!  Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.  It’s based on the true story, so that always helps the fear factor.  I can’t wait!  It opens this Friday!  A lot of local actors landed some roles in this flick, so it gives us even more of a reason to see it.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Where were the stars celebrating? Well, wherever Eastbound and Down cast members celebrated, they got an extended weekend.  They won’t be shooting until Monday on Fremont St.  The Under the Dome folks are shooting in Burgaw today.  Rachelle LeFevre spent her time in Wrightsville Beach.  She was looking for someone with a boat.  Hopefully she found someone!  Other cast members also had a great time on the 4th.

dean norris ‏@deanjnorris “Grilling meat. Wrightsville Beach. A shit ton of explosives. Yeah, this ain’t CA we will be blowing shit up!! I love America. Happy 4th”
Jolene Purdy@jojopurdy “Party crashing on the 4th with the ramblers @1NicholasStrong #alexkoch
John Elvis (who plays Ben) was also out with the crazy kids! They spent their time pretty much all over Wilmington! There’s still a lot of questions about how the dome works.  So, here’s what we know so far.

Hoping to find out more, Monday night at 10pm!
