A Sleepy Hollow Christmas

LISTEN NOW VIA PODCAST

TO THE CAST AND CREW OF SLEEPY HOLLOW:

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the lot,
creatures still stirring, til every scene was shot.
The horsemen galloped to the cemetery with care,
in hopes that Ichobod Crane soon would be there.

The film crew wished they were all snug in their beds,
while visions of a day off danced in their heads.
And Alexis in her ‘kerchief, and Darwin in his cap,
just knew this Christmas, there’d be no long winter’s nap.

On the roof of Stage 10, the crew heard such a clatter,
Jefferson yelled out, “Hey, fly out that ladder!”
Away to the window for a set dec redo,
Sullivan opened the shutter, “Hey look, it’s unit two.”

The moon was up, the cast and crew ready,
“Let’s do this!” exclaimed DP John Leonetti.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but Headless himself and an ax quite near.

The shot was well done, on to wardrobe real quick,
Geneveive gets them to Screen Gems in a fast lick!
More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came,
Ken Olin whistled and shouted and called them by name:

“Now Mison! Now Beharie!
Now, Gonzalez and Cho!
On, Winter! On, Greenwood!
On, Stenberg and Jones!
To the top of the set!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!”

As dry leaves that before Greens made fly,
“Too much crunching noise, Rebecca” said Michael, the sound guy.
So off to North 3rd St, all of them flew,
with trucks full of gear, Cinema Catering too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
it was Beavis’ effects that went BOOM and POOF!
As Iscove and Blake turned scripts out and around,
down Princess Street Tom Mison came with a bound.

He was dressed perfectly vintage, from head to toe,
and hair and make up, nailed it, ready to go!
The bundled up crew was so cold in the night,
“Action” was called, yep they got it right!

The crew, they slaved, but were all still merry,
their cheeks were like roses, their noses like cherries!
Sixteen hours in, almost done for the day,
but was the finale done?  Nope, just part way!

Back at the office, they had paperwork miles long,
Lisa and Hope made sure nothing was wrong.
Josh and Stacee had so much to do,
Karen and Shannon’s list grew and grew.

Hartley worked hard like a jolly old elf,
“Gotta stay on budget,” he sternly said to himself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
soon gave FOX word they had nothing to dread.

Sleepy Hollow fans eager, ready for more,
waiting for January is too much to endure.
So they watched again, oh yes, they replayed,
the 13th and 20th their next special days.

“Cast and crew, we love you!” We exclaimed, we yelled.
“You deserve more kudos then we can possibly tell!”
So, with that being said, before we turn off the lights,

“Happy Christmas from Wilmywood, and to all a good night!”

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 12/02/2013 OJ’s Road to Hollow, Sleepy Hollow, Vote PCAs

ROADTOHOLLOWHappy Monday!  After a nice long weekend, I can tell you I actually woke up at 4:15am this morning without feeling like death!  Yay, go me!  Let’s see what’s going on in Wilmywood.  After talkin’ about it for months, Orlando Jones created his episodic adventure during his travels from California to Wilmington, NC.  And he named this epic journey, The Road to Hollow.  It’s a ” shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not have a head.  Orlando Jones, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless (and occasionally the headless), the powerless, in a world of shippers who operate above the law.”  Check out episode 1 below.

Tonight, we will get a rerun of Episode 2, Blood Moon, originally aired on September 23rd where Ichabod and Abbie try to determine which witch is which.  We will have to wait until next Monday, December 9th for Episode 10, The Golem.  And as far as shooting goes, both units will be at Screen Gems today.  Heads up, they sleepy folks will be out and about the rest of the week.

Over the weekend, my friend Shaun and I took the liberty of answering a lot of questions that people have about the NC Film Incentives and film questions in general.

QUESTION: What’s the difference between North Carolina’s Film Incentives and Georgia’s?  ANSWER.

QUESTION:  Everyone is talking about a sunset when it comes to the film incentives.  What exactly is a “sunset?” ANSWER.

QUESTION: So why does North Carolina need film incentives anyway? ANSWER.

QUESTION:  What film incentives do the other states offer?  ANSWER.

QUESTION: Do the tax payers pay for police officers and fireman when used on a movie set?  ANSWER.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 11/13/2013 Amandla Stenberg, Sleepy Hollow, Tales from the Darkside, Dance-A-Lorus, Brothers Olson

Amandla+StenbergGood morning Wilmywood!  I am so pleased to tell you that later today, I have an interview with the fabulous Amandla Stenberg.  At the moment she is working on Sleepy Hollow, playing Macey, Captain Irving’s daughter.  Her debut episode will be November 25th.  This 15 year old is beautiful inside and out.  Not only is she a gifted actress but she believes in giving back.  She will talk to us about her being a youth advocate for the No Kid Hungry Campaign.

Sleepy Hollow’s final numbers came in and The Midnight Ride adjusted up a tenth – 2.6 rating, 7 share, with a little over 7 million viewers.   And speaking of fabulous shows with fabulous writers and producers, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are teaming with author Joe Hill to “resurrect” one of my favorite shows from the 1980s – Tales from the Darkside!  How EXCITED are you! According to Vulture.com:

“The CW has been looking to develop a new take on the syndicated series for a while now, and with Hill, Kurtzman and Orci on board, the network has ordered a script for the project. The CW is also poised to move quickly on the project: If it likes the script, the network could air the reboot as soon as this summer. Like the original George A. Romero-created series, the new Tales episodes will be 30 minutes long, episodes will be self-contained and every minute will be designed to scare the hell out of viewers. Mitch Galin, Heather Kadin and Jerry Golod will also serve as exec producers on the project, with Hill writing the script.”  READ COMPLETE ARTICLE NOW!

Oh and by the way, Joe Hill just happens to be the son of Stephen King. See the connection there?  The man who links our 2 hit shows together.  Now if they would shoot this in Wilmywood…

Dance-a-LorusIt’s here!  Day 1 of the 19th Cucalorus Film Festival, and as tradition goes it all kicks off with a dance/film samba, rhombus, cha-cha-cha! Filmmakers and choreographers unite to bring you Dance-A-Lorus, a one-of-a-kind event. Tonight, 7:00 PM at Thalian Hall’s Main Stage.  Then at 8pm, the Bellamy Mansion holds the opening night kickoff party.

Meanwhile, state legislators have film incentives on the list to talk about today as they explore ways to make up for $600,000,000 of lost revenue.

State Rep. for Columbus, Robeson, and parts of Bladen Counties, Ken Waddell,  is on the Revenue Law Study Committee and when it comes to film incentives he said he would like to see state lawmakers increase them, since the film industry affects almost every county in our region. Amen brother!  Let’s hope all ears are open today!
“A part of Revolution was filmed in Chadbourn. There’s been some other filming going on in Whiteville and in other places. Filming is really important. It provides a lot of jobs to a lot of people. That helps small businesses pass the bucks around,” said Waddell.  READ THE STORY FROM WECT

CUCALORUSA CUCALORUS MUST SEE: Broadcast – A Man and his Dream is the story of Ralph Epperson growing up in the 1920s and 30s the son of tobacco farmers in the hills of Southwestern Virginia/Northwestern North Carolina and daring to dream of a different life. As a boy he discovered radio and from then on was led by a desire to understand how to transmit sound through the airwaves. This love of technology was coupled with a passion for the broadcast2music native to his growing up, “it was then called old time and now we call it bluegrass,” along with a strong faith in God and community. In 1948 Ralph realized his dream with the opening of his first station, WPAQ 740 AM, Mt. Airy, NC, “the voice of the Blue Ridge” but his dream didn’t stop there. Most of his family followed him out of the tobacco fields and into radio. broadcastToday more than 150 radio stations around the nation owe their beginnings to Ralph Epperson and his dream as well as countless musicians who continued their music and passed along the tradition that still exists today of Blue Ridge style string music. In 2005 Director, Jordan Nance, dared to dream that despite his physical limitations from severe cerebral palsy he could make a film about Ralph and WPAQ. Now in 2013 Jordan’s dream is a reality.

The screening will be on Sunday, Nov 17 at 10:45AM in the studio theatre at Thalian Hall. There will be live bluegrass for those who come a little early and enjoy Jones Smith & Co.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 11/04/2013 Nicholas Sparks, Bolden! shoots today, Zach Galifianakis, Sleepy Hollow and more!

201110-the-best-of-meI have been blogging about this movie for months and finally there are more details coming out about Nicholas Sparks’ The Best of Me, the latest flick that is coming to Wilmywood!  Michelle Monaghan will star taking on the role of “Amanda Collier” and once was what a rumor is now a fact,  Michael Hoffman will direct the film.  The flick will follow a pair of former high school sweethearts who reunite after many years when they both return to their small North Carolina hometown. The novel was released Michelle_Monaghanback in March.  Nicholas Sparks is producing along with Ryan Kavanaugh and the much loved Denise Di NoviTheresa Park is co-producing. J. Mills Goodloe and Will Fetters penned the script.  They are planning a release date of October 17, 2014. While they are not giving a date on when offices will open, I am thinking it will have to be between now and late January.  Pure speculation however, but it will take about 5 weeks of prep and about 30 days of production.  They will need the crew base.  The Squeeze wraps this week, Sleepy Hollow in mid-December, so that will open some 200 crew members ready to move to the next project.  But with Under the Dome returning –  office staff in January and crew in February, they better get going on this project.

Bolden! begins their test shoots today at Screen Gems.  Yes, the movie that was shot here nearly 6 years ago.  They are back in action!  Still no word on who will replace Anthony Mackie as the lead role of Bolden however.  They are hoping to begin full production in March or April of 2014.

RumorslogoMore Rumors are swirling about Wilkesboro, NC native Zach Galifianakis replacing Jim Carrey in Jared Hess’s comedy Loomis Fargo with Owen Wilson as his sidekick.  The last time that Galifianakis and Wilson worked together was on another NC shot movie, You Are Here, in Winston-Salem and the surrounding areas.

The action/comedy is based on true events that happened in Charlotte, and the two will play inexperienced criminals who rob a bank – leaving a trail of evidence behind.  With that being said, we don’t know if they will be shooting in Wilmington as originally planned, or will share the love throughout the state.  They are looking at a start up date tentatively in March 2014.

And speaking of start-up dates.  New rumors from the Lot are swirling about Sleepy Hollow Season Two production returning as soon as February. And possibly before Under the Dome (which comes out on DVD/Blu Ray tomorrow) begins.  This is strictly rumor, but it was something that I have heard from multiple sources.

FINALLY!  Sleepy Hollow returns tonight!  After the longest hiatus we can now sit on the edge of our seats again ready for Ichabod and Abbie and good old Headless to cross our screen!  Here’s a preview for tonight’s episode!

Or if you just can’t wait and missed yesterday’s blog, watch the first 8 minutes, an extended scene from tonight’s episode.  WATCH NOW!

DavidFontenoMore casting news has come in.  David Fonteno has joined the Sleepy crew.  The actor, who played Judge Robert Parks in The Good Wife, is becoming more devout and will return to the small screen as a Catholic priest named Reverend Boland. It seems as though this reverent man has been somewhat of a role model to Captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) for a long time. The Reverend will make his debut on episode 9 (airing November 25th) as well as our beloved Rue, Amandla  Stenberg.

Some more great news for the ratings for the premiere episode.  Sleepy Hollow soared 108% to 26.4M viewers across Live, DVR, VOD & streaming on Hulu & Fox.com. (SOURCE)

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 10/22/2013 Another movie coming to Wilmywood?

Rumorslogo

RUMORS FROM THE LOT!

Happy Tuesday!  Let’s kick it off with “Rumors from the Lot.”  Another movie could be coming to Wilmywood.  It’s an independent flick with a big heart. It’s called Fragile, a true story about high school football team embracing a mentally challenged boy, and could be in production before the holidays.   It’s a small project (under $5 million) and from what I understand is funded by folks in NC.  I think it will be a project that everyone will want to be a part of. So to sum it up, the movie is a fact, whether it comes here is still bookmarked as rumor, at least for now.  I will keep you posted.

mtvMTV is casting a new show!  Do you live in a real-life Modern Family?

The Sleepy folks head to The Graystone Inn, on S. 3rd St.  this evening.  There will be one of the horses at this location, but I cannot tell you if it will be Zach.  That’s Headless’s horse.  Also, it looks like we will see James Frain on set today. Another reported location for the day is the Cape Fear Club on Chestnut.

Well Wishes, a little film out of Raleigh, will be taking up space on the 100 block of Water St. until Noon today.  The characters will be spreading the wealth by filling parking meters.
