WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 09/10/2013

Last night we went Under the Dome didn’t air until 10:30pm last night due to the overrun of the US open.  It earned a 2.1  adults 18-49 rating, down from last week’s 2.7 adults 18-49 rating, but TVbythenimbers.com expects this number to change significantly in the finals later todayIn case you missed it, I added an additional blog with the locations used for Under the Dome if you geek out about those things 🙂

sleepyWith 6 days to go until our biggest Monday night here in Wilmington where Under the Dome ends and Sleepy Hollow begins, Orlando Jones gave a personal insight of what he is most excited for you to see while he attended the advance screening of Sleepy Hollow in LA at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery over the weekend.

“There’s one shot, and it’s not even a gory shot, where Headless chops off somebody’s head, and I like the fact that you don’t expect it.  And it’s not even like a big special effect or anything, it just makes me chuckle every time I see it.” ~Orlando Jones

SunnyRadiothon2013I will have more details coming about the auction that begins this week for some great auction items from some of our favorite productions that shot right here in Wilmington including autographed items from: Tammy, The Conjuring, Under the Dome, Sleepy Hollow, Arthur Newman and even a Screen Gems Experience.  The auction benefits this year’s Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon.

Roughly half of your donation will go directly to filmmakers. Each year Cucalorus provides artists with over $35,000 in direct financial support (that’s more than half of all ticket sales!). The remainder of the funding will be used to rent the equipment we need to show movies! It’s really that basic. We hope you’ll help us in our mission to bring people together to celebrate, discover and create independent films. VISIT CUCALORUS KICKSTARTER PAGE

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 08/30/2013

Another Dome Day is coming. Here’s the preview as we gear up for Monday night:

Christmas in Conway is filming at NHRMC today as one of the characters is treated for injury. Afterwards they head to Greenfield Lake Park at the main playground area.

Sleepy Hollow is back at the Brooklyn Arts Center on N. 4th St. The location was transformed into an abandoned church which is not hard to do. Our heroes will find a clue, but of course some bad guys show up to start the party making some noise. So, if you are close by, you will probably hear some fake gunfire coming from inside the building.

Swirl’s The Dempsey Sisters is shooting off Gordon Rd today.

Sarah Crandall reports that Wilmington recently made a BuzzFeed article’s list of 41 Things You Might Not Know About “One Tree Hill,” highlighting certain parts of Wilmington.

The Cucalorus Film Festival has announced its early selections for 2013.  Here’s the list!

Finally congrats to our Safe Haven man Josh Duhamel as Fergie’s little pea is out of the pod — The Black Eyed Peas singer has given birth to a baby boy named Axl Jack Duhamel.

About Arthur Newman (Summary written by Becky Johnston) – The movie follows Wallace Avery who really hates his job and his ex-wife and son hate him.  He’s blown his one shot at living his dream. Not wanting to face all this, he stages his own death and buys himself a new identity as Arthur Newman.

However, Arthur’s road trip towards anew life is interrupted by the arrival of the beautiful but fragile Mike, who is also trying to leave her past behind. Drawn to one another, these two damaged souls begin to connect as they break into empty homes and take on the identities of the absent owners: elderly newlyweds, a high-roller and his Russian lady, among others. Through this process, Arthur and Mike discover that what they love most about each other are the identities they left at home, and their real journey, that of healing, begins.

Good luck!  I will be giving away the first pair of movie tickets tomorrow morning at 8:30am during the LIVE “What Up In Wilmywood” segment on Sunny 104.5!  910-790-1045
