THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 12/17/2013 – NC Film Critic’s Choice Nominees, Sleepy Hollow Misnomer, PCA’s and more.

sleepy-hollow1

Goooood Mornin’ Wilmywood!  Let’s kick off the blog this morning with a Sleepy Hollow concern from one of the entertainment bloggers out there in the world.  HW Hill was a little confused about Sleepy Hollow missing an episode, saying, “I guess it didn’t get a full episode order, or it was just meant to be that short.”

No worries, HWHills!  I got your back.  My sources over at Fox set the record straight.

“Fox decided to air them differently.  The Season One order is 13.  It’s always been 13 and they are shooting 13.  We just decided to combine episode 12 and 13 into a 2-hour finale.  In fact, the finale is gonna be epic.  It’s gonna be huge.”

Episode 11 will air January 13th, 2014, 9pm EST and the big finale (Episode 12/13 combo) will air Monday, January 20th beginning at 8pm EST on Fox!

Susan Sarandon will be on The View today.  Wonder if she will bring up Tammy.  Maybe!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 12/10/2013 Sleepy Hollow Film Crew plays Secret Santa for Wilmington Families and more!

SG10Major rumors are swirling about the NC Film Crew. Apparently, they deserve kudos and candy canes.  The  locations department of Sleepy Hollow decided to give back this year to complete strangers.  They took donations from the hundreds of crew members working on Sleepy Hollow, every department, and together they raised $1000!  They headed to Toys R Us and played Secret Santa,  secretly paying off 18 layaway plans at the toy store.  I called the production office for confirmation. As an added bonus, the store manager informed one of the crew members that Toys R Us is also going to make a matching donation to Toys For Tots! Now if that doesn’t inspire you to pay it forward, dunno what will!

The ratings for last night’s episode of Sleepy Hollow will come out later today – I will give you the full report in a separate blog on how The Golem performed.  The Sleepyheads are running two units, both filming on the lot today.

UTD_DVDCutie Pie, Hunter, with Wilm on Film, released the Under the Dome dates.  Looks like they will open offices on January and production will begin in March. And for the record, give some kudos to Hunter.  He is a lot like me, underpaid, an army of one and collecting a lot of great production news. Ha! You go boy!

Wilmington Regional Film Commission_1Reminder:  I know I’ve talked about this a lot, but it has been a while.  If you got a really cool or interesting property, and think it would be a great location for film, contact the Wilmington Film Commission at (910) 343-3456 or commish@wilmingtonfilm.com. Properties can be anything from a large lot, warehouse, barn to a farm, restaurant, shop, or simply your house.

Top a the mornin to ya!!  Happy Tuesday! Yesterday, I posted Orlando Jones’ epic journey, Episode 1 of The Road to Hollow.  His trek continues from California to Wilmington, NC with Episode 2.  Check it out!

WECT put out this story yesterday.  A sober look at what would happen to New Hanover County if the film incentives faded with the sunset:  New Hanover County could lose more than $10 million annually in tax revenue if the state’s film incentives aren’t renewed.  That’s according to Robert Handfield, an economist at NC State University. This includes $3.7 million in sales tax revenue, $2 million in direct sales tax revenue from film-industry workers, and $200,000 in room occupancy tax.

Handfield added, “The implications of the loss of the industry on local tax revenue will be substantial, and will drive further gaps in state and local tax revenues, increased unemployment, and the loss of an industry in North Carolina that is healthy and growing nationwide.”  READ THE ENTIRE STORY

SLEEPY HOLLOW RATINGS: Did The Midnight Ride win the race?

SH_Headless

“Now THAT is the #SleepyHollow episode I have been waiting for!” ~Den of Geek

Took the words right out of my mouth!  What a midnight ride indeed, best episode to date!  But let’s see who was watching.  The overnight numbers are in.  Last week, The Sin Eater gave Sleepy Hollow a 2.5/6 rating with 7.08M viewers.  A  season low, but we expected that with the VERY LONG baseball hiatus.  This week Episode 7, The Midnight Ride took  7 million viewers on a journey maintaining last week’s audience garnering a 2.5 rating.  This episode managed to put Sleepy Hollow back to #1 in its time slot with A18-49.  Plus, this is an episode that has serious buzz, so I am thinking major DVR and +3 LIVE numbers will be beautiful! We still need to see if SH will adjust up or down later in the day. I will be updating this blog as more details come in.

“The Midnight Ride was great fun, simultaneously batshit crazy and somehow coherent, with the usual mishmash of historical fan fiction, gruesome horror, and witty repartee mixed into a cocktail that should be overpowering and trite, and yet isn’t” ~ Zack Handlen, A.V. Club

What do the experts say?

Gaude Paez Morose “Choptastic!! #SleepyHollow held steady with last week’s 2.5 rtg and 7 mil viewers!”
.
.
Joe Adalian ‏“SLEEPY HOLLOW steady at a 2.5 A18-49. In a related note/editorial comment, last night’s episode was pretty much perfect.”
