THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 07/08/2014 Another feature film for NC?, Aaron Syrett resigns, Secrets & Lies and more.

JohnElvisIt’s was Episode 2 for Under The Dome, Season 2 last night on CBS and one of our favorite Domies, John Elvis who plays Ben was back in town to watch the action packed show with our beloved local Chester’s Millers downtown Wilmington at Hell’s Kitchen during the Barrettviewing party. Actor Barrett Carnahan took the night off from Sleepy Hollow to show support and have a little fun with friends while in town. A good time was had by all. John will be leaving midweek.  We will miss ya buddy! Thanks to Mary Jo Jackson for the pics!

We’ll see how Under the Dome did rating-wise later today.   Our Domies are in Currie today while Sleepy Hollow is at Hoggard High School and then Forest Hills.  The Longest Ride is at Atlantic Auto and CFCC.

Timothy BusfieldNow if you remember Tim Busfield is playing Benjamin Franklin is season 2 of Sleepy Hollow.  Well, it looks like ABC’s Secrets & Lies is borrowing him.  As a director.  Look for Secrets & Lies to begin production in about two weeks.

ABC’s Secret & Lies is still accepting crew resumes.  Send your resumes with position in the subject line to: secretsandliesoffice@gmail.com

Sleepy Hollow is returning to the San Diego Comic Con coming up on Friday, July 25th GET DETAILS NOW!

Although we’ve already seen this on Netflix, North Carolina shot Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa .5 is officially out on DVD and Blu-Ray today.

NCFILM OFFICECORRECTION: Director the NC Film Office Aaron Syrett did not resign.  Due to a reduction in workforce, Aaron will no longer be at the North Carolina Film office as of July 31st.   He did not leave in the middle of the battle.  This is so sad.  Aaron’s been helping keep things alive over the past 7 years.  We wish him well.  Looks like Production Services Executive Guy Gaster is filling in Aaron’s position.  We don’t know if this is permanent or temporary. More details will be released in the coming days.

RumorslogoThe feature film currently titled, One & Two is currently is said to begin setting up shop later this month in North Carolina.  It’s about two siblings living in a remote area who have supernatural powers but they are and have been stifled by their overbearing father.  Producing in Kim Sherman.  Andrew Droz Palermo is the director.  Not too many other details about this one.  Where in North Carolina is still unknown.  Let’s log this one still as a rumor.  No one has said boo about this one…yet at least.

A lot of people have asked me about the Civil War based pilot coming from Disney.  I am still being told, they are waiting until a decision is made on the film incentives before they decide on North Carolina or Virginia.  Hate to say it, but my gut tells me they are going north for this one.  (please let me be wrong).

secretsLiesYay!  The first production day of the season!  ABC’s Secrets & Lies kicks it off in Porter’s Neck.  Wanna know some more secrets?  How about how Producer Aaron Kaplan feels about Wilmington and why he chose to bring it here.  Hunter Ingram of the Star News snagged this fabulous quote:

aaronkaplan“When we were trying to decide where to shoot this, one of the most important things for us was that we had to pick an American city that felt very safe, very bucolic and a place that would be rattled by something like the murder of a child,” Kaplan said.

Aaron says more and he wasn’t the only one that agreed.  Find out who cited our excellent film incentives and crew base to seal the deal. READ MORE NOW

charlesduttonThis came out yesterday afternoon!  Australian actress Indiana Evans, has signed on the dotted line as well as three other actors for Secrets & Lies.  Deadline reports that Evans will play Natalie, Ben and Christy’s teenage daughter.  But I am most excited about Charles Dutton!  He will play one of the neighbors, Kevin Williams.  Also added to the list are Steven Brand (Magic City) as Dr. Joseph Turner, another neighbor, and Kate Ashfield (Shaun of the Dead).  READ MORE NOW.

Johnny Knoxville is REALLY looking forward to you grabbing a copy. “We had so much hilarious footage that we had to cut for various reasons, so I’m psyched that people are going to get to see everything, especially when it’s unrated and on Blu-ray. Woohoo!! Plus I think fans will get a kick out of seeing how we pulled off some of the pranks in the behind-the-scenes footage. As Irving would say, ‘The show’s not over until I hogwrench the fat lady’s spatooly.'”

Blu-Ray Combo Pack will come with an Unrated Cut with more footage, along with the regular theatrical version. The set also features over an hour of behind-the-scenes content, deleted scenes and alternate reactions from real people.  If you get the single-disc DVD there are NO special features.

Steve_ProutyYesterday, we watched the Oscar Nominees roll in and two North Carolina got recognized. We expected Iron Man 3 to get a nom, and it did for Visual Effects. But our jaws dropped when we saw the next one. After all, when do you ever see a comedy EVER get a nomination at the Oscars? It’s a rare occurrence. But hey, we’ll take it! So HUGE congratulations to Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa! The Hair and Makeup department got the nomination! Very well deserved! Johnny Knoxville looked amazing! Makeup artist Steve Prouty said in a statement:

“I’m very proud of having been a part of this film,” Prouty said. “We worked very hard each day to help bring Irving Zisman to life and are eternally grateful to have worked with someone like Johnny Knoxville. He is a true talent.”

AngieNow let’s head to Charlotte, NC for a spell.  Actress Angie Harmon ( Law & Order, Rizzoli & Isles)  was appointed to the Studio Charlotte board. She gave her plea to Charlotte City Council members yesterday to approve Studio Charlotte. The developer has until the spring to convince city leaders to OK the plan to remake the Eastland Mall site.   READ STORY NOW

Also on the Charlotte front, in the latest issue of Production Weekly, they report Charlotte will get the feature film, The Sharp Files later this year.  This suspenseful flick is about a professional psychiatrist, Laura Sharp, who struggles with her own mental state after the death of her husband and two children. She must work to find out what is real as she deals with four mysterious and dangerous patients.  M.J. Alhabeeb Jr. will direct.
