WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/15/2013 The Weekend Afterglow

A great time was had over the weekend. Let’s start with the Pipeline to a Cure, the benefit to support Cystic Fibrosis.  We decided to auction off a date with Under the Dome’s John Elvis who came out to support.  We ended up raising $800.  Here’s some great photos from the night:

Toni Silvagni, our own surf hero here in Carolina Beach was honored on Saturday night, which means he didn’t get to go to the premiere party for The Perfect Summer that was shot here just a few months ago by Swirl Films.  But thank goodness they aired it multiple times over the weekend on the Up Network (TWC 283), so everyone got the chance to see it.  Have to give major kudos to Swirl for getting in some of the best establishing shots on our area.  Makes me wanna move there…oh wait…

1064036_10152992247495117_575935430_oSo, let’s flip back to Under the Dome real quick.  Episode 4 is tonight on CBS at 10pm.   As if living under the dome wasn’t already cruel enough, tonight Chester’s Mill is being hit with a meningitis outbreak, and to make matters worse the medical supplies are running low.

Don’t forget Live tweeting with the cast and producers at #UnderTheDome.   Or hang at the viewing party at Hell’s Kitchen downtown at 10pm.   The gang is shooting back in Currie, NC today.  They UTD4only have two more weeks of production before the cast heads to where ever they will go.  Still waiting for official word for a season two.  If that does indeed happen, we won’t have to miss the gang for too long.  The cast had another rambling weekend. Colin and Mackenzie joined Nick, Aisha, Rachelle, Dean, Jolene, John, Alex for dinner than all those over the age of 21 enjoyed the rest of the night downtown.

Finishing with some quickies, Michael Phelps was back in Wrightsville Beach over the weekend at The Yacht Club. Tomorrow, Eastbound and Down is shooting Union Missionary Baptist Church,  and Maides Park.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/11/2013 Another movie coming to town, See the Dome hitting Chestnut St!

Gotta give some kudos to Star News’ Cassie Foss!  She has uncovered some more great filmmaking coming up in the area.  Winston-Salem based, Inspirata Films is producing But Now I See which is about the life of John Newton, whose conversion from slave trader to  pastor helped him write the famous song, “Amazing Grace.”  They will be  shooting in our area the first week of August.  Bald Head Island and  Oak Island will be standing in for Plantain Island and Fort Macon near  Atlantic Beach will be transformed into the Kittim fort, the center for  slave trade. WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/10/2013

Good Morning!  The numbers are in and Under the Dome is STILL #1 baby!  The numbers dipped slightly by 7% but still held a large enough audience to crush the competition with 10.6 million viewers.  They were not only #1 in their time slot, but #1 for the night! Which I will definitely place money on a season two. We should find out this week if that is true.

The folks under the dome will be shooting at Screen Gems today.  I wanted to give a huge thank you to Wayne Henderson and Troy Heinritz, two great guys who produce the “Under the Dome Radio Podcast.” I recently spent some time with them discussing the show, revealing a few locations and hyping up our NC film incentives along with our crew.  Take a listen when you can.

Also, guess who popped in the studio yesterday?  Cutie pie, John Elvis, who plays the character Ben!  We had a great time talking about life under the dome, his relationships with the cast and for the girls who have a crush on him, whether he is single or taken!   Check out his entire interview now!

As soon as Sleepy Hollow begins productions, Christmas in Conway is not far behind!  Production begins for the Hallmark Movie around August 5th.  They don’t have the Extras Casting director finalized as of yet, but I will let you know!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/08/2013 – It’s Dome Day once again!

It’s Dome Day once again, so either watch Under the Dome at 10pm tonight or set your DVRs!  And you know where to go for the viewing party.  Hell’s Kitchen is the place to be.  Some of the stars show up for the weekly event, you never know who is going to be there.  If you are a fan of John Elvis who plays the character Ben, he’s a regular, so stop on by and say hello!  Tonight is his big scene showing off his mad skating skills.  What were the stars up to this weekend? Rachelle LeFevre spent some time in Charleston over the weekend at the Market Pavilion Hotel and was especially entranced with their down home,  southern food.   Looks like Mackenzie Lintz went back to her homestate of MidnightRamblersGeorgia to hang with some of her besties.  Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong  and Alex Koch aka the Midnight Ramblers as they call themselves, rambled all over Wilmington.  Nicholas said they were at the beach, the pool, they barbequed, even had a dinner party set to Sinatra.  Here’s a pic they tweeted over the weekend.

Only a few days left to win a map of Chester’s Mill & a signed copy of #UnderTheDome by Stephen King! Enter now!

Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover fame, was hanging with some local friends at Topsail Beach over the weekend.  Did you see him?  I wonder if he is as ADD in real life as he is on the show.  No matter, he is sooo adorable!

Eastbound and Down is  shooting on Tabor Lane just off N Kerr Ave today.  There’s a casting call for Wednesday’s shoot from NCasting: EASTBOUND & DOWN: “This will work Wednesday.  I need 5 Mexican males ages 18 and up. Please spread the word!!! Have them email me a CURRENT photograph with the following information – NAME, AGE, HEIGHT/WEIGHT,
PHONE # ebdextras@gmail.com

Excitement is filling the air as we gear up for Sleepy Hollow.  They begin production in two weeks. As far as casting goes for the Fox show, I do know they will be looking for Revolutionary War re-actors really soon. I will keep you posted or you can check for more details at Revo Casting Calls on Facebook.”

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/05/2013

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Where were the stars celebrating? Well, wherever Eastbound and Down cast members celebrated, they got an extended weekend.  They won’t be shooting until Monday on Fremont St.  The Under the Dome folks are shooting in Burgaw today.  Rachelle LeFevre spent her time in Wrightsville Beach.  She was looking for someone with a boat.  Hopefully she found someone!  Other cast members also had a great time on the 4th.

dean norris ‏@deanjnorris “Grilling meat. Wrightsville Beach. A shit ton of explosives. Yeah, this ain’t CA we will be blowing shit up!! I love America. Happy 4th”
.
Jolene Purdy@jojopurdy “Party crashing on the 4th with the ramblers @1NicholasStrong #alexkoch

John Elvis (who plays Ben) was also out with the crazy kids! They spent their time pretty much all over Wilmington! There’s still a lot of questions about how the dome works.  So, here’s what we know so far.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/03/2013 – Short and Sweet

A slow day, thank goodness!  Sorry, was that selfish?  I swear I need an intern!

232323232%7Ffp43799)nu=4 );79)233)WSNRCG=36 3 3(48;324nu0mrjThe big news is, of course, the ratings for Monday night’s Under the Dome.  Episode 2 pulled in 11.8 million viewers after all was said and done, this time being #1 in its time slot!  A call for Season two can’t be far away.  Locations today will be Chestnut St. and the 6th St. Bridge.

Expect some intermittent road closures during the Chestnut St. shoot between 17th and 19th as well as 18th St. between Princess and Grace.

Also intermittent road closures for the bridge shot on Campbell between 5th and 7th, Redcross between 5th and 7th and on 6th between Campbell and Walnut

Once they flip their cameras, on Brunswick between 5th and 7th, Bladen between 5th and 7th and on 6th between Brunswick and Harnett.

WF_ad-donateAfter the airing of Episode 2, the fabulous Rachelle LeFevre tweeted, “4 Arizona’s lost firefighters & due 2 theme of tonight’s Under The Dome I’m donating 2 Wildland Firefighter Foundation.”  I hope she sparked a good fire in people’s hearts to do the same.

Eastbound and Down heads back to the Cameron Arts Museum today.

And the overnight numbers are in! UNDER THE DOME: Episode 2:

232323232%7Ffp43799)nu=4 );79)233)WSNRCG=36 3 3(48;324nu0mrj

Under the Dome had monster numbers last week in which it became CBS’s highest rated summer premiere  since 2005.  Under the Dome was also the highest rated program among adults 18-49 and with with Total Viewers for the week of June 24-30.  Will we see a season two? It’s all about the numbers.  Let’s see how Under the Dome fared last night!

Originally, the overnight numbers revealed 11.5 million viewers, a 2.8 rating with Adults 18-49.  beating the score of MISTRESSES and SIBERA combined.” Under the Dome was adjusted up a tenth this afternoon among adults 18-49 versus Monday’s preliminary ratings.   Under the Dome  now at a 2.9 rating w/ 11.81 million viewers.

I’ll keep you posted if any other adjustments come in.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/01/2013 – Exciting things at EUE/Screen Gems. More confirmations about Reese Witherspoon Flick.

If you are a Reese Witherspoon fan, there were MAJOR RUMORS SWIRLING over the weekend.  A few weeks back, I told you the folks were scouting the area for the film Three Little Words starring that cutie pie Reese.  Well, word on the lot is not only were production heads approached for potential hires, but I was told a few, already accepted positions.  SA-WEET!

Hoping the rumors are indeed true because it sounds like a great story, sweet and tearful.  The logline reads, “A volunteer comes to the aid of a teenage girl who has been lost within a state’s child-welfare system for almost a decade.”  Reese will star along with Amanda Seyfried.  But my personal favorite part is one of the producers is the FABULOUS Jami Gertz!  LOVE HER!  Hello Lost Boys flashback! Got some great actresses in it combined with a sob story.  I’m ready, Kleenex in hand!  Interesting to note, this flick was offered for pre-sales at Cannes this year.  With all that being said, I am still listing this as RUMOR, at least for now!

Screen GemsEUE/Screen Gems is gonna get busy a buildin’  Well, they hope to, but I hear it is very promising.  We haven’t seen a back lot since 2001’s Black Knight starring Martin Lawrence.  Now over a decade later, we might just see it again.  As Sleepy Hollow gets into gear, they are loving the treeline on the vacant space, and the location is ideal for such a headless horseman’s tale.  Hopefully if all goes well, we will see that once again.  And I mean everyone!   Screen Gems is also (fingers crossed) going to allow tours once again.  They have had phone calls pouring in from TV/Movie fans wanting to catch a glimpse of the sets.  Out of the 10 sound stages Screen Gems has to offer, Eastbound and Down has stage 6, Under the Dome has stages 7 and 8, and now with Sleepy Hollow coming next month, they will take over a stage or two and then secure the back lot.  I dunno about you, but even I want to go on the tour!  EUE/Screen Gems is hoping for an August start.  I will let you know when it is official.ncfilm

The folks from the NC Film office as well as the Wilmington Film Commission were in LA last week for the AFCI Locations Trade Show, they said they continue to see lots of interest in North Carolina.  A press release should be out within the next day or two.

Ready for Episode two for Under the Dome?  Don’t forget 232323232%7Ffp437(6)nu=4 );79)233)WSNRCG=36 3 3(4 ;324nu0mrjHell’s Kitchen is where it’s at -the official viewing headquarters for Under the Dome tonight @10pm.  And again some LIVE tweeting from the cast and fans!  #UnderTheDome.  Over the weekend, we got some final numbers for the ratings of #UndertheDome and their ratings rose again thanks to DVR! After they pulled the DVR records, the CBS series rose from 13.5 to 16.69 million viewers!!  I will be waiting anxiously on Tuesday for Episode 2′s numbers!  I will post them as soon as I find out!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 06/24/2013 It’s Dome Day!

IT’S HERE!  The television event we have all been waiting for!!  Under The Dome premieres on CBS at 10pm TONIGHT!  If you go to bed early, set your DVRs!!  I did get a chance to see the pilot Thursday night but you can bet your sweet A- I am watching it again!  FYI – if you got kids 14 and younger, you might have to shut their eyes in the first 5 min.  Just sayin’!

Today is also OFFICIALLY by proclamation from our Mayor Billy Saffo, DOME DAY! He made the declaration last Thursday at the red carpet premiere.  So, Happy Dome Day everyone!

I had a VERY busy weekend putting together all those fabulous Dome Day interviews!  We have more than a dozen of them, so check them out.  My favorites has to be Brian K Vaughan and Jack Bender‘s because they give real testimonials of just how great our crew base is, why the tax incentives need to stay and the locations are perfect for their needs. Oh, and did I mention the Wilmywood blog is getting quite popular, even with the writers and producers 🙂  Check it out:

SEE ALL THE INTERVIEWS NOW!  The Under the Dome folks will be shooting in Burgaw on Right St and Fremont St. You will see the beautiful boys today:  Mike Vogel, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford and Dean Norris.

There is a HUGE viewing party at Hell’s Kitchen (118 Princess St , Downtown Wilmington) tonight and every Monday night at 10pm.

Congrats to our Militia Man, Giancarlo Esposito.  The brilliant actor who plays Major Tom Neville on NBC’s Revolution is getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  Yay!  He of course is also known for his role as Gus on  series Breaking Bad.

UTDPremiere062013_0362

June 20, 2013 – Wilmington Mayor Billy Saffo hands Stephen King a key to the city during the Under The Dome Red Carpet Premiere

The red carpet came alive last night as about 90 % of the cast came out and celebrated with the locals at the Under The Dome Red Carpet Premiere.  We have tons of video footage and photos.  As soon as I can put it all together I will be releasing it piece by piece starting today.  A HUGE thank you to C-G Productions (CG’s Website,   Twitter and Facebook) and David Pasqua for shooting the event!  They were amazing!  Check out all the photos from the event:

Our handsome Mayor Billy Saffo greeted the crowd and read the proclamation, honored Stephen King with a key to the city, then  declared June 24th Dome Day!  The Under the Dome folks are filming at Waterford in Leland, then move to stage for the rest of the night.

MsPennyDirectorToday is the last day on Tammy 😦  I will miss that cast big time!  But I have a feeling Miss Penny (Susan Sarandon’s angel) will miss Wilmington even more.  For their last hoorah, they will be on Blue Clay Road (between N. Kerr & N. College Rd.) and also 2610 N. 23rd Street.  Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon and the gang will be on set.  And finally, Mullet Alert: Eastbound and Down will be shooting on 21st and Chestnut today.
