THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 06/09/2015 Dome Days, The Squeeze, Vacationland

Did you see something special in the News and Observer? There is a full page ad (above) provided by the Wilmington Regional Film Commission and Screen Gems. Thanks for this Robbie. “FILM” is spelled out with the names of all the businesses that are part of the Small Business for Film coalition, and the message says:

Small businesses understand the importance of the NC film industry. Film production supports hotels and restaurants, print shops and paint stores, antique dealers and clothing boutiques, equipment rental companies and lumberyards, florists, locksmiths and everything in-between. Legislators, your vote makes a difference. Support small business. Vote Film.

With that being said, while Dirty Dancing is not filming and is holding up $4 million of the grant, I am hearing that the show Vacationland  who very much wanted to stay here has settled on Georgia. I am being told that our NCFilm crew’s getting calls to work on the show. The pilot was filmed here late last year.

Meanwhile the News & Observer’s Spencer Parts hung with us during day one of Dome EddieCahillDays. Check out his article, “CBS drama films third season as NC film industry struggles to compete

In the article Under the Dome cast member Eddie Cahill said he thinks the town (Wilmington) is especially supportive of film. “It feels personal here,” he said. Yeah, Eddie gets it. Nail. Head. Nuff said.

Today is day two of Dome days. I will be heading back to EUE/Screen Gems Studios later this morning to interview some more of the cast. They are currently on Day 7 of Episode 8. And guess who I ran into? The fabulous Eriq LaSalle! Yep he’s back and is ready to direct episode 9 then guest star on a  few episodes too! He will play the ruthless Hektor Martin, the CEO of the energy company run by Barbie’s father played by Brett Cullen. So plan on seein’ Eriq around town for the next couple of months!

The Wilmywood shot, The Squeeze, is out on DVD today! The golf caper stars Christopher McDonald, Jeremy Sumpter, Jillian Murray and Michael Nouri, along with some of our local actors including Michael Rosander, David Andrews, and Logan Siu to name a few.

The Squeeze is a true story about a young man from a small southern town who gets caught in between two notorious gamblers, until the stakes become a matter of life or death. GET IT NOW!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 03/24/2014 Max Steel, Under the Dome, Red Zone

Hey Hey and Happy Monday Wilmywood!  Hope you had a great weekend!  I was great to see so many of you at Jack Bender‘s Art Show. SEE PHOTOS NOW

So last week, I hinted at some really cool construction going on for MAX STEEL.  Well, my sources are telling me Ideal Cement is gonna be the Max Steel Headquarters.  It feels like TMNT all over again! And it looks like director Stewart Hendler is confirming the location.

I chatted via twitter with Ana Villafane over the weekend and she is pumped about playing Sydney.  Ben Winchell, who will be playing Max McGrath is gonna have one hell of a wardrobe, one piece in particular.

MAXSTEEL_CASTWriter Christopher Yost was doin’ a little bragging last week, saying “Know what else is ridiculously awesome? The suit for the Max Steel movie.”  Okay, seriously, I am starting to geek out about this flick.  Ahhhh! Let’s go into production already!

Under the Dome is headed to Southport today for a little church scene.   A lot of cast member on set today including Dean Norris, Mike Vogel, Rachelle LeFevre, and Eddie Cahill to name a few.

AshleyMarchingBandAnd now we always walk about Film=Jobs, but more importantly we need to discuss what film does for a community.  There are a ton of stories that you never hear, so I am gonna make sure to bring them all to light!

Jenny called The Sunny Morning Show on Sunny 104.5, and she told her story of how a television production (RED ZONE) has helped the Ashley High School Marching Band. READ STORY NOW

RED ZONE is back at Ashley High School today.  I am so glad for the sake of the cast and crew today is not an overnight shoot!  Good Gravy!

Be safe and be aware. No exceptions. THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 02/06/2014 – GOOD LAWD! Max Steel, Secrets Lies, Under the Dome, Steven Fiore and more!

Wow!  Such an amazing week for BREAKING casting news. Yep, last week was the quiet before the storm.  I have blogged all damn day and night monitoring all the media outlets and doing some major snooping around with my own sources.  So, basically, I haven’t slept in days!  I have GOT to hire some staff!  Okay, so, let’s review what we have so far and put it together in one blog. Damn, I need a nap!

SecretsLies_CastABC’s SECRETS AND LIES  – Ryan Phillippe signed the dotted line yesterday and now he is a done deal.  Just after that announcement came one that made us go Hmmmm.  Natalie Martinez is playing leap frog with the networks. Martinez will play the character Jess, the child’s devastated mother.  Secrets & Lies centers on a house painter and family man (Phillippe) who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a young boy when he finds the body while out on a morning run. He must find the real murderer to clear his name and save his marriage, his reputation and any chance of having a normal family life again. If you remember EP Neal Baer said earlier last month, that two of our favorite characters on Under the Dome won’t live to see episode two. Now with that being said, if Natalie is joining the cast of ABC’s Secrets & Lies, could “Linda” be the one of the two that won’t live to see another episode?? Hmmmmm….  WAITING ON CASTING CHOICES FOR  16-year-old Natalie, 12-year-old Abby, Ben’s wife, Christy.

UTD_CASTCBS’S UNDER THE DOME SEASON 2 – The 18-year-old newbie actress Grace Victoria Cox  will recur as the mysterious and beautiful Melanie, who catches the eye of Joe (Colin Ford). Eddie Cahill CSI: New York has been cast as Big Jim’s brother in law, Sam, who is the “crazy drunk” who lives in the woods!   Also, Karla Crome (Misfits) joins the enclosed gang!  Crome will play Rebecca, the beautiful school teacher who we’ve been talking about.

MAXSTEEL_CASTMATTEL’S MAX STEEL – Open Road will release domestically in 2015. Atlanta boy, Ben Winchell will take on the lead role of Max McGrath.  He’s best known for his roles in Lifetime’s Pregnancy Pact, as well as Dixon in season 3 of A.N.T. Farm (Disney) and Eric in season 2 of Necessary Roughness (TNT). Ana Villafane will play Max’s love interest, Sydney Gardner.  She’s an up-and-coming Latina actress and singer from Miami, Florida.  Villafane is best known for her starring role in Anchor Bay’s 2012 release Hiding playing a protected witness relocated from New York City to Montana.  Also, in this flick was Jeremy Sumpter who we just had here working on The Squeeze.

Max-SteelVariety’s Dave McNary wrote an article yesterday morning on the unveiling of Max Steel which will happen tomorrow in Europe.  He opens with:

So get ready for Max Steel which will make an appearance at the EFM (European Film Market) and Mattel and Dolphin Films will unveil more details about the live-action adaptation.  So, that means we can look forward to more details this week!
