FX Pilot Coming to Wilmywood!

FX is bringing “How and Why” to North Carolina this Spring.  My sources have confirmed that they have indeed been sniffing around Wilmington, and now Screen Gems has confirmed they will make Wilmywood their home!  Look for Michael Cera and John Hawkes around town in the next few months!  They have been signed to star in this comedy pilot which is coming from Charlie Kaufman.  How and Why tells the story of a man who can explain how and why a nuclear reactor works but is otherwise clueless about life.

BREAKING: ABC Big Dogs Have Arrived.

Well some GREAT news this morning.  As the Under the Dome office staff trickles in for their first week back, guess who else might be moving in sometime this week?  I heard that the Secrets & Lies big dogs are already in Wilmywood and they are possibly opening up offices as soon as this week.  Looks like they will be calling Screen Gems their home for the next few months. We do have a start up date for the ABC pilot and they begin production on February 21st! Woo Hoo!

I also heard that Barbara D’Alessandro will be involved, which makes me very happy because South Carolina had her hostage with Army Wives over the last few years. Welcome back, Barbara!  David Hartley, I believe just might be working on this Aussie turned American crime drama as well.  Nothing confirmed as of yet.  No word on their casting choices yet, and who gets the casting gig, but we should find out soon enough!  Let’s get this ball rolling!

ABC has given a straight-to-series order for the show and has given the green light to a 10-episode adaptation of the upcoming Australian series.  No word yet if they will continue production here after the pilot.  As soon as I know, you will know!

ABOUT SECRETS & LIES:  A crime mystery drama, about a family man Ben Garner who has his world turned upside down when he discovers the dead body of a neighbor’s child and becomes the prime suspect in the boy’s murder. He has no choice but to try to find the real killer as his marriage, his kids, his reputation and his sanity are all at stake.

A Sleepy Hollow Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the lot,
creatures still stirring, til every scene was shot.
The horsemen galloped to the cemetery with care,
in hopes that Ichobod Crane soon would be there.

The film crew wished they were all snug in their beds,
while visions of a day off danced in their heads.
And Alexis in her ‘kerchief, and Darwin in his cap,
just knew this Christmas, there’d be no long winter’s nap.

On the roof of Stage 10, the crew heard such a clatter,
Jefferson yelled out, “Hey, fly out that ladder!”
Away to the window for a set dec redo,
Sullivan opened the shutter, “Hey look, it’s unit two.”

The moon was up, the cast and crew ready,
“Let’s do this!” exclaimed DP John Leonetti.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but Headless himself and an ax quite near.

The shot was well done, on to wardrobe real quick,
Geneveive gets them to Screen Gems in a fast lick!
More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came,
Ken Olin whistled and shouted and called them by name:

“Now Mison! Now Beharie!
Now, Gonzalez and Cho!
On, Winter! On, Greenwood!
On, Stenberg and Jones!
To the top of the set!
To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!”

As dry leaves that before Greens made fly,
“Too much crunching noise, Rebecca” said Michael, the sound guy.
So off to North 3rd St, all of them flew,
with trucks full of gear, Cinema Catering too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
it was Beavis’ effects that went BOOM and POOF!
As Iscove and Blake turned scripts out and around,
down Princess Street Tom Mison came with a bound.

He was dressed perfectly vintage, from head to toe,
and hair and make up, nailed it, ready to go!
The bundled up crew was so cold in the night,
“Action” was called, yep they got it right!

The crew, they slaved, but were all still merry,
their cheeks were like roses, their noses like cherries!
Sixteen hours in, almost done for the day,
but was the finale done?  Nope, just part way!

Back at the office, they had paperwork miles long,
Lisa and Hope made sure nothing was wrong.
Josh and Stacee had so much to do,
Karen and Shannon’s list grew and grew.

Hartley worked hard like a jolly old elf,
“Gotta stay on budget,” he sternly said to himself.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
soon gave FOX word they had nothing to dread.

Sleepy Hollow fans eager, ready for more,
waiting for January is too much to endure.
So they watched again, oh yes, they replayed,
the 13th and 20th their next special days.

“Cast and crew, we love you!” We exclaimed, we yelled.
“You deserve more kudos then we can possibly tell!”
So, with that being said, before we turn off the lights,

“Happy Christmas from Wilmywood, and to all a good night!”

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 10/30/2013 – NC is Top 10 Film Location Worldwide, 13 Scary Wilmywood Flicks

cropped-screen-gems.jpgMore awareness for NC Film came out last week with North Carolina making the top ten list of filming locations WORLDWIDE in an article written by Thanks to WECT to finding this gem of a list.  We came in at #9, just ahead of the UK.  In the article, they wrote:

North Carolina’s 25-percent refundable tax credit program recently remained safe from a far-reaching rewrite of the current tax code. As the program stands, the state continues to attract popular television productions, like “Revolution,” “Under the Dome” and “Homeland,” and feature films like Iron Man 3, We’re the Millers, and Safe Haven. Filmmakers can find a variety of studio options in North Carolina to suit most production needs. The Wilmington-based EUE/Screen Gems is one of the country’s largest studio complexes with 10 stages, while Charlotte, Asheville, Raleigh and areas surrounding Greensboro and Winston-Salem also offer soundstage options for visiting filmmakers.

California took the #1 spot, followed by Canada and Georgia.  SEE THE FULL ARTICLE NOW

The Squeeze is back filming downtown today at the 1800 block of Nun St as well as the alleyway between Ann and Nun.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 08/06/2013 Journey 3, Loomis Fargo, River Guard and More

100MEDIA_IMAG0228Happy Tuesday!  As many of you know, I have been busy working on the movie River Guard, doing some extras casting.  I can definitely say I am no Kim, Vanessa, Marty, Susan, Missy or Emmy, but I am enjoying it.  It’s “an edgy father-son redemption story wrapped around a bizarre murder trial in the South.”  So, while I am working on this court drama, I wanted to share with you who is having a lil fun in Wilmywood! The cast includes Eric Ladin(Boardwalk Empire), Peter Jason(Deadwood), Brett Cullen(Dark Knight Rises), Jeff Kober(Sons of Anarchy) and JD Evermore(Rectified).  The court scene begins today and will continue through the week. And please let me add a HUGE thank you to all the background actors who have helped this film immensely!  You so rock!

hallmark_movie_channelChristmas in Conway – Driving scenes are being shot today with the normal flow of traffic – you may get a chance to spot them on Oleander Dr., Dawson St., 17th St. and 16th St.  If you do spot them, please respect them and the work they are doing!

Sleepy Hollow is back on the dream stage today (EUE/Screen Gems Stage 10).  And don’t forget to VOTE for Wilmington to have that early screening of the premiere episode!  We need about 100 votes today to stay in the running!

Eastbound and Down folks are back at Kenny’s house in Porter’s Neck, then they will also be back on stage later today as well.

More details are coming out about Loomis Fargo.  We know Dumb and Dumber 2 will indeed go into production with Jim Carrey in Atlanta soon, so Jim is unavailable this fall.  My sources are telling me Loomis Fargo is now looking at a March start up date which will coincide with Under the Dome‘s return!  I’m gonna log this as a rumor for now.

under-the-dome-cbsSpeaking of which, how did you enjoy last night’s episode?  No spoilers!  I fell asleep at 9:30pm LOL – I DVRd it, so I cannot wait to see it when I head home this afternoon.  Watched it or not, I will be sharing with you the ratings.  This time around should be very interesting with the CBS blackouts!

Is Journey 3  still coming to Wilmywood?  My sources say yes and that some department heads have already read the script.  I was told they are waiting for Josh Hutchinson and Dwayne Johnson’s schedules to mesh, looks like a 2014 start date for them as well!  Again, logging it as a rumor.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me:  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!
