Third times a charm for FOX’s ‘Shot Fired’ Extras Casting

It’s been musical casting for FOX’s Shots Fired, starring Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, and Stephen Moyer, is filming in Charlotte, NC. It started with Extras Casting Director Tona Dalquist. She decided to pass on the project a few weeks in. Then NCasting took over for another two weeks. And now it looks like Vanessa is stepping down as well. She will be helping the new Extras Casting Directors make a smooth transition and  Vanessa’s casting assistant Keema Mingo will remain on the show.

Marinella Hume Casting will be taking over from here. They are out of Atlanta, so If you worked on Sleepy Hollow after they moved to Georgia, you probably know who they are. Go to web site now:

Check on NCasting’s Facebook page for an upcoming open call for background actors in the Charlotte area soon.

FOX’s ‘Shots Fired’ gets new Extras Casting Director.

Tona Dahlquist of Tona B Dahlquist Casting who is the Extras Casting Director for Dirty Dancing as well as FOX’s Shots Fired (starring Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss and True Blood vet Stephen Moyer) posted yesterday that she was stepping down as ECD for the Fox show.

After serious thought and consideration, we have decided it is best for us, as well as production, for us not to continue on Shots Fired after Episode 1. We are letting everyone know Thursday will be our last day handling the extras. Don’t worry of feel bad, it was our choice. If we have you booked for Tuesday or Thursday, you remain booked and will receive your information from us as usual. Please know how very thankful we are to all of you for helping us out on this episode. You guys were FANTASTIC! We love you all and as always -stay tuned to the casting pages for our other casting needs. The series will continue filming until July in the Charlotte area. We wish it and all of the crew nothing but the best. The show will be a good show everyone. Please know my decision was personal and not based on any law passed or story line. Please continue to support the show if interested in filming. As I said, I wish nothing but the best for the show and all of the crew.

Well you know how many folks react to things, so it was a very smart on Tona’s part to add that her decision was personal and NOT based on any law passed or story line. She wants everyone to continue to support the show. – LOVE YOU Tona!

Well, 16 hours later, a new Extras Casting Director has been named – it’s yet another respected ECD we all know and love. Please congratulate Vanessa Neimeyer of NC Casting. She will be taking on the role effective immediately, so please refer to her Facebook page for all background acting opportunities in the Charlotte area.

I can tell you right now Vanessa will be looking for A LOT of teenagers for Thursday. So, if you are in the Charlotte, NC area, be on the lookout!

Extras Casting Director ready for ‘Dirty Dancing’ and FOX’s ‘Shots Fired’

A lot of people have been hounding me (in a loving way) about who is doing extras casting outside of Wilmington. Well, congrats to Tona Dahlquist of Tona B. Dahlquist Casting. She will be heading up not one, but two productions West of Wilmywood.

ABC’s 3 hour event, Dirty Dancing and FOX’s new series, Shots Fired.

Dirty Dancing is an adaption of the beloved 1987 hit romantic drama which was shot in part in North Carolina. Produced by Lionsgate Television in association with Allison Shearmur Production, the TV event—starring Abigail Breslin, Debra Messing, Colt Prattes, and Sarah Hyland  The production will take place in the state’s western region, including Jackson and Buncombe Counties among other locations next month.

SanaaLathanShots Fired is a series from 20th Century Fox Television and Imagine Television that will base out of Charlotte. This could be a great one as Brian Grazer is the producer behind it. It has gone by multiple names such as Indictment and the most recent Untitled Gina Prince-Bythewood Project. She is the writer/director on this project. The LP is Howard Griffith who has been here before. Sanaa Lathan is set to star as an expert investigator who digs into the cases, alongside a special prosecutor sent to the town by the Department of Justice, to seek justice before the divided town erupts.

Stay tuned to Tona’s Casting Page on Facebook for all the details! GO THERE NOW!

Congrats Tona! Well deserved!

More projects for North Carolina? Here’s the scoop!

Happy Monday my NC Film peeps. A few things of note today and you know how it goes…things change in the biz every 5 seconds. But, here’s what stands at the moment.

LoganLermanThis one, I am not too sure about. PW is putting a feature film in North Carolina. No city is listed. It’s a drama thriller titled Rothchild.  It’s about a young man who hatches a murderous plot to inherit his family’s wealth. The LP is Frank Hildebrand. The film stars the 24 year old little hottie Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson, Noah) who’s been here before for Stuck In Love.  Someone mentioned to me it’s a possible SAG-indie, but I cannot confirm it. That is all I know about the flick. No confirmations to go on as of yet. It’s PW, so ya know, not the most reliable source.

SanaaLathanA couple of weeks ago we thought FOX was bringing us 24:Legacy, but they opted for LA. However, it looks like we might be getting a FOX show after all. Fox is reportedly bringing us the series for Shots Fired.  Charlotte, NC is listed as the location. This could be a great one as Brian Grazer is the producer behind it. It’s been hard to search for as it has gone by multiple names such as Indictment and the most recent Untitled Gina Prince-Bythewood Project. She is the writer/director on this project. The LP is Howard Griffith who has been here before. Sanaa Lathan is set to star. The story revolves around the blend of racial tension and police brutality. It’s supposed to be up and running in late March. Again, no confirmations as of yet.

And finally heading South of the border, the ABC pilot that Barbara D’Alessandro is line producing, The Death of Eva Sophia Valdez, was first thought to be shooting in Charleston, SC. However, I can now tell you they are filming in Myrtle Beach – much closer to home for those NC peeps working on the show! They start up March 11.

We shall see if any of these shows get confirmation! As soon as I know, I will keep you posted!

In the meantime, here’s some other links of interest from the local media.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 01/28/2016 – Another actor for ‘Six’ / FOX pilot for NC?

British actor Dominic Adams

Mornin’ peeps! We have quite a bit of film news for ya this morning! First up let’s chat about our History Channel show, SIX!

About 2 weeks ago, we introduced you to Juan Pablo Raba, a Colombian film, TV series and telenovela actor. He is playing Ricky “Buddha” Ortiz, one of the veterans on SEAL Team Six.

So now let us introduce you to his nemesis! If you are a Devious Maids fan, you already know him as Tony Bishara. However, he’s got a new role.  British actor Dominic Adams will be playing the antagonist of our series, Michael.

Six follows a brotherhood of modern American warriors, Navy SEAL Team Six, whose 2014 mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with the terrorists.

Welcome to the Wilmywood film family Dominic!

ICYMI, the extras casting director was named for SIX yesterday.

CoeryHawkinsNow what else is in store for us? There is a nice buzz surrounding another show to pop up here in North Carolina. 24: Legacy, Fox’s pilot that reboots the 24 franchise with brand new characters. So, don’t expect Jack Bauer to make an entrance. And they have already signed the male lead. Straight Outta Compton‘s Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre) is up for the task of playing Bauer’s predecessor and military hero, Eric Carter.

This morning, Variety shed some more light on the cast. Miranda-OttoMiranda Otto will be taking the lead role. Variety wrote that she will be playing Rebecca Ingram. “the blazing smart former head of CTU. Now married to Senator John Donovan (who has not yet been cast), Rebecca is struggling with second thoughts about having left the counter-terrorism agency.

Now don’t get too excited Wilmington, I’ve heard that they have scouted the Charlotte area and are looking for big city locations. So, the Queen city will likely be their choice. Hopefully, we can get this info confirmed soon as production would begin in March (so I hear).  So far, there is a pilot order. Let’s hope for a Charlotte shoot with a full season pick up!

Finally, there is another indie flick that will be shooting just South of Asheville head up by some producers from across the pond. I, unfortunately, don’t have much info on that one.

Sleepy Hollow Crew Member lands role on Gotham

Congrats to Wilmington crew member, Genevieve Barker!  She has landed a role on the soon to be hit show Gotham which airs this fall on Fox. She plays a reporter that challenges the mayor of Gotham in Episode 4. Typecast again, but hey she does it so damn well!  In fact, you may have seen her as an anchor woman or live reporter on such shows as Iron Man 3, the season finale of Homeland and Eastbound and Down,  HBO’s Mary and Martha and of course Dawson’s Creek. [See IMDbGotham will air before Sleepy Hollow, both premiering September 22nd. Gotham has been deemed the most-anticipated new drama this fall.
genevieve~rhWhen speaking to Genevieve, she revealed that she shot the scenes last week in New York.  Ohhhh, so, that’s where she was!

“I am so excited to see Fox roll out two blockbusters airing back to back this fall on Monday nights, says Genevieve.  “Sleepy Hollow and Gotham all in one great night.”  Currently she is working on Sleepy Hollow.  “It’s an amazing place to work as we have tremendous crew, excellent writing and talent. Gotham is cutting edge as well. It’s not NY, it’s its own place, so to speak, and it tells the story behind how Batman came to be. Plus you see the back story of corruption and how the villains tried to take over the city.”

Look for Genevieve’s episode to air, October 13th on Fox.  Stop on by her Facebook page and give her some major kudos!

Fox Sets Premiere Date for Sleepy Hollow Season 2

SH_s2_CemeteryLast night at California’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Fox held a press evening including the stars of Sleepy Hollow, including multiple bodies sans heads.   They held a screening at the mausoleum (I mean, where else would you screen Sleepy Hollow?) and of course a panel discussion in which Fox announced the premiered date for season two!  FINALLY.  It will be Monday, September 22nd at 9/8c.

They are on their endless pursuit in which they are striving for an Emmy this season.  During the press day yesterday, Fox sent their the headless horsemen to press outlets all around Los Angeles. Like everywhere! Oh and there were cookies, lots of cookies.
