WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 09/19/2013 Need Stand-In TODAY and Sleepy Hollow

wife_assimOur fabulous local boys, the Olsen Brothers (and dad) from The Forgery and DV3 Productions has got an AMAZING film on their hands, “The Unknown Caller.”  I had the honor of checking out  a few scenes and per usual these guys blow it out of the water.  They can compete with any of the big dogs in Hollywood.  The film is complete but they have ONE pick up shot left and are looking for a Stand-In for today. It will only take 1-2 hours.  SO, if you are in the Wilmington area and have a look similar to this guys, they NEED you from 3-5pm today!

ASSIM: Middle eastern man, short hair, around 5’11. Medium build. Can be Latino dark instead of middle eastern dark.  MUST HAVE SIMILAR WARDROBE (as seen in photo) TO BRING TO SET.  Email: sheila_brothers@yahoo.com a full body shot and headshot along with weight, height and all contact info with ASSIM in subject line.

JFSleepy Hollow is shooting at the Brooklyn Arts Center today until about 11pm tonight.  And as Hunter of the Wilm on Film Blog reported yesterday, it looks like James Frain (True Blood/Grimm) is joining the cast and I don’t think he will make the mystery any smoother for Ichabod Crane.  James plays the character Rutledge, a nobleman in modern-day Sleepy Hollow who takes an interest in Crane, now posing as a visiting Oxford professor. Rutledge is also harboring a secret that could affect Crane.  And in cased you missed the Premiere episode of  Sleepy Hollow, it will run again this Friday night on Fox. 9pm

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 05/07/2013 – Tammy, Homeland 3, Port City Pop Con, CFIFF

Lots of little tidbits today!  Let’s start with where the stars will be today.  The fabulous folks Under the Dome are back on the lot today.  The Perfect Summer will be in Carolina Beach today.  FYI they are looking for EXPERIENCED surfers for their upcoming beach scenes being filmed in Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach.  Please submit a current photograph, age, contact information & wardrobe sizes to: perfectsummerextras@gmail.com with the subject SURFER.

Tammy is already under way this morning along Nun St.  Allison Janney makes her way to set today. Folks who were involved in yesterday’s shoot at Two Fat Ladies gave glowing reports about their experience on set.  Kristin shares about her husband’s time on set.   “He had a blast filming today and Friday.  He said Melissa McCarthy was so nice and hilarious. He sometimes found it hard to keep a straight face while filming.  She thanked everyone at the end if the day. Class act!”

"Crystal Head Vodka"The highlight of the day, however, took place at the ABC store down the street.  No, I am not kidding!  Dan Aykroyd headed to the liquor store and signed bottles of his Crystal Head vodka.  Yep, Glenn was lucky to get his hands on one! She also gave major praise (well -deserved) to the extras casting director Marty Siu.  People are going to have fun filming on Tammy with such great people.  To get in on the action visit the extras casting page.  They will be hiring over 2000 folks for this film!

Let’s also give a quick nod to the filming going on west of us!  Homeland 3 is just about ready to roll in a couple of weeks.  They are back in North Carolina, mainly in the Charlotte/Concord area. You can find all the Extras Casting opportunities here for ‘Homeland 3,’ as well as ‘Careful What You Wish For’ and ‘Banshee

Locally shot Safe Haven is hitting Blu-ray and DVD today. Although the film wasn’t released worldwide, it still managed to make a decent amount, pulling in over $71 million at the US box office.

You only have three more days to catch Arthur Newman (Colin Firth, Emily Blunt) at Carmike Cinemas in Wilmington.  It runs now  through Thursday, May 9th.  Showtimes daily are: 12:45pm, 4:10pm, 6:50pm, 9:25pm.

Finally, not only are we counting down the days until Port City Pop Con happening this weekend at the Wilmington Convention Center, but they have partnered with the Cape Fear Independent Film Festival which starts a day sooner (this Thursday)!  For this year’s line-up and to purchase tickets, visit CFIFF’s web site now!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Me and cutie David Lyons

Will NBC’s Revolution will stay here or not?  That’s still a 50/50 split.  Especially between the cast and production team.  The AWESOME cast, of course, wants to stay! The production team wants to move to Charlotte.  Beach season is around the corner people!  Let the cast and crew enjoy the coast for another season!

**UPDATE: Revolution is shooting at the Water St./ Parking Deck tonight.

Under the Dome will be on the lot for the first half of the day, then head to Chestnut St.  in the evening.

The Melissa McCarthy movie, Tammy’s start date, earlier reported to be May 6th, might get pushed to May 9th or later.

On to the swirling rumors.  My favorite part.  My sources tell me there’s apparently another TV pilot looking to shoot here in June for 3 weeks. All but 3 days would be shot on the lot.

My sources are also hearing rumors about another really BIG feature coming in late May, but don’t have any details. Yet, that is!  Haha!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you Monday morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Okay, starting off with two quick things.  Our local boys Tom and Mike Gossin from Gloriana will be on Jay Leno tonight!  And Under the Dome is filming on the lot today, so seeing your favorite stars is unlikely.  At least on set.

A lot of you wonder, if there are so many movies and TV show filming here, how come you never see any of the stars?  Well, you can spot Hollywood celebrities all over the city, IF you know where to look.  Or eat for that matter.  And these stars must immediately get the scoop on where to eat in town because most of these restaurants are local favorites.

Actor Tim Guinee from NBC’s Revolution told me one of his favorites was “Manna” (123 Princess St.) in downtown Wilmington.  If fact, the entire Revolution cast can agree on “Manna.”  Tim also said he really enjoys the “Flying Pi Kitchen” (402 Chestnut St.) just down the street.

Brunch at “The Basics” (319 N Front St) is a MUST downtown for the stars especially the day after a long overnight shoot!  If you drive just outside of downtown you will find a restaurant called, “Rx” ( 421 Castle St.).  This seems to be one the favorites for cast members of Under the Dome.

Sushi is also a common favorite among the stars.  And three local hot spots made Hollywood taste buds sing!  If you remember not long ago, “Yo Sake” ( 31 South Front Street) was practically a second home to the cast of One Tree Hill.  “Nikki’s” downtown location ( 221 N Front St.) is another hot spot as well as popular for sushi TO GO!

Not all the favorites were in the downtown area, however.  Director Casey LaScala (The Remaining/Donnie Darko) enjoyed heading to the Wrightsville Beach area.  He was a regular at the “Bento Box” (1121 Military Cutoff Rd.).

Actor Dean Norris as well as actresses, Rachelle LeFevre and Sharon Lawrence all agree that  local favorite “Catch” (6623 Market St) is a MUST DINE restaurant.  Then again, when you have a chef like Keith Rhodes, who wouldn’t LOVE IT!  If you missed it, check him out on Season 9 of Bravo’s Top Chef!  Rachelle, by the way, is also a fan of “Dixie Grill” (116 Market St.) & she says the best Sunday fried chicken is at “Cracker Barrel” (21 Van Campen Blvd).

Where have you seen the stars dining?  Post your comments below.  I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Also,  gotta good Thai recipe?  post it below! Until then, that’s a wrap!
