THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 10/14/2013 Sleepy Hollow awakens the fans at NYCC

First HUGE numbers are in for Sleepy Hollow.  During the premiere week  of the 2013-2014 season (September 23-29), Sleepy Hollow topped the % adults 18-49 ratings increase from DVR viewing, adding 70% to its Live+Same Day adults 18-49 ratings.  Holy crap!  Amazing!  READ ALL ABOUT IT NOW!

With numbers like that you can understand why the Sleepy Hollow panel was the must attend event at the New York Comic Con yesterday. Panels ran throughout the con, but no one had a panel or an autograph line quite like Sleepy Hollow.  Co-Creator of the show, Phillip Iscove captured the moment. Wow!  That line is insane!  Thanks for the pic Phillip! Liz P. who runs the @TomMisonFans twitter account, was in attendance for none other than Sleepy Hollow.

I asked Liz to share her experience at this year’s con. “The highlights for me were mostly about Tom (of course).  The question was asked about how to play the comedic moments that he does so well — he said that he has to repress “the flouncing tart” in him that wants to ham it up.  It got a great laugh, especially when someone added that everyone in the audience was probably now googling “flouncing tart.”

@TomMisonFans @WilmywoodNC It was a HUGE room. Person Of Interest didn’t fill it, and The Following barely did, but mostly cuz everyone was there for SH!

“Also I loved when people asked (a couple of times, I think), about “Ichabbie,” and he kept reminding them that he had a wife who was a witch, who probably wouldn’t appreciate him taking up with another woman.  They showed a rough cut of some new scenes, which were pretty amazing — lovely moments between Ichabod and Abbie, then some pretty crazy stuff happens.  The footage will be part of the November 4th episode, I think, which airs after a break for the World Series.  Not sure how I’m going to make it through that break, to be honest!!”

Yes, Liz, I think we can all relate!  Within that exclusive footage shown at NYCC was the two main women in Ichabod’s life will have to team up to try and save him from a new evil after he gets abducted. We learn that Katrina can also visit Abbie.  Katrina warns Abbie that the Headless Horseman is returning to Sleepy Hollow that night and only Ichabod can stop him.

So what was one of Liz’s favorite moments during Comin Con?  “Singing happy birthday to Katia,” she said.  “I wish we had heard a little more from Orlando, but we ran out of time.  He did get to talk a little about his really savvy use of social media – but would have loved to hear more about it and about his Capt. Irving.”

My other correspondent was Bryce Finchem.  He said more info was revealed about John Noble (Fringe).  We now know according to Alex Kurtzman & Len Wiseman, he will be playing a Sin-eater, a person/entity which will be crucial to Ichabod’s existence.

Couldn’t make it to the con?  No worries check out the panel discussion NOW!

Looking four episodes ahead, writer Jose Molina mentioned that they are working on Episode 9 and he shared a little tease about what’s to come. “If today’s writing session is any indicator, episode 1.09 is gonna be a 5-hankie event!”  Oh boy!

With all that being said, let’s focus on tonight’s episode (9pm EST, FOX) written by Melissa Blake. Here’s a sneak peek:

The Sleepy Folks shoot at Smith Creek Park today!

THE OFFICIAL REPORT: SLEEPY HOLLOW TV SERIES TO FILM IN WILMINGTON, NC

sleepy-hollow1

Well I’ve been telling you for about a month now it was coming, but when the Wilmington Film Commission says it, you know it’s for real!  Yay!  Here’s the official press release!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 6, 2013

SLEEPY HOLLOW TV SERIES TO FILM IN WILMINGTON, NC

Wilmington, NC, June 6, 2013 – The Wilmington Regional Film Commission and the North Carolina Film Office announced today that 20th Century Fox Television is bringing the TV series SLEEPY HOLLOW, a thrilling new modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic story, to Wilmington, North Carolina.  20th Century Fox Television currently films the award winning series, HOMELAND, in the Charlotte region.

“We are certainly excited that once again Wilmington has been chosen as the home for another TV series”, says Wilmington Regional Film Commission Director, Johnny Griffin.  “This series will continue Wilmington’s long running success with television production.”

“20th Century Fox Television continues to see the value of working in North Carolina”, says North Carolina Film Office Director, Aaron Syrett.  “Fox is a valuable client and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them on this and future productions.”

SLEEPY HOLLOW is from K/O Paper Products in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is co-created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman (“Hawaii Five-0,” “Underworld” and “Total Recall”). The series is executive-produced by Kurtzman, Orci, Wiseman, Mark Goffman and Heather Kadin. Iscove serves as supervising producer. Wiseman directed the pilot.

SLEEPY HOLLOW will air on Mondays at 9 p.m. on FOX beginning this fall.

“What if you suddenly woke up from the throes of death 250 years in the future to find the world is on the brink of destruction, caused by unimaginable events, and you are humanity’s last hope?”

In this modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers. Revived alongside Ichabod is the infamous Headless Horseman who is on a murderous rampage in present-day Sleepy Hollow. Bound to the Headless Horseman by a blood spell cast on the battlefield of the American Revolution, Ichabod quickly realizes that stopping Headless is just the beginning, as the resurrected rider is but the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

As this re-invented Ichabod finds himself in present-day Sleepy Hollow, he discovers a town and a world he no longer recognizes. All that is brutally familiar are Headless and Ichabod’s determination to annihilate this immortal being. It’s a mission he must complete quickly, as Headless already has viciously slain Sheriff AUGUST CORBIN (guest star Clancy Brown, “Cowboys & Aliens,” “Carnivale”). Grey served both as mentor and father figure to Detective ABBIE MILLS (Nicole Beharie, “Shame,” “American Violet”), a young cop whose own supernatural experiences help her form an unlikely bond with Ichabod. But Sleepy Hollow’s head of police, Captain FRANK IRVING (Orlando Jones, “The Chicago 8,” “Drumline”), isn’t buying any of this.

In fact, the only person who is on Abbie’s side is Ichabod. His extensive first-hand knowledge of our secret American history, coupled with her superior profiling and modern threat assessment skills, will make them a formidable duo as they work together to triumph over evil. The complex pasts of Ichabod and Abbie, from Ichabod’s inclusion in the powerful and secretive Freemasons Society and the ghostly appearance of his late wife, KATRINA (Katia Winter, “Dexter”), to Abbie’s childhood visions, will help them solve the intricate puzzles of Sleepy Hollow in order to protect its future.

As history repeats itself, the oddly-linked pair will draw on the real stories and hallowed secrets this nation was founded on in their quest to stop an increasingly vicious cycle of evil.

SLEEPY HOLLOW currently occupies offices and soundstages at EUE Screen Gems Studios.  Production is expected to begin in late July and continue through December on an initial order of twelve episodes.
