Wilmywood Salutes the Birth of the Bad Boy!

by April Vickery

Happy Birthday to two timeless bad boys: Johnny Knoxville and Ron Jeremy

Johnny is celebrating his 43rd birthday today! Mr. Knoxville is linked to our beautiful state by the film Bad Grandpa. In this film Johnny’s character, 86 year old Irving and his grandson, Billy go on a road trip from Nebraska to North Carolina. The good people of Charlotte and Garner will never be the same I’m sure!

Knoxville & Irving

Recently the Dickhouse (owned by Mr. Knoxville) and MTV production nabbed an award nomination at the Oscars for Stephen Prouty’s makeup effects. The movie is also nominated along other Wilmywood productions for several MTV Movie Awards including “Best #WTF moment” for the Beauty Pageant scene. If you haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil it. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you anyway.

ronjeremyA BIG birthday shout out goes to Ron Jeremy who made local headlines in 2013 by choosing to be a part of the Wilmington production of Dale Archdale written by our local boys Shane Thompson and Matt Warzel. Ron, who turns 61 tomorrow, played the father figure to our title character, Dale played by Matt Warzel. Matt can be heard and not seen in an episode of the Wilmington based show, Battlefield Friends as well as the upcoming Hank and Jed animated feature, Toonstone.  The film was shot entirely in Wilmington and produced by Cleveland Clowns Films. A release date has not been set.

Happy Snowy Wednesday Wilmywood! Man, it took me 1/2 hour to de-ice and defrost before I could leave my driveway this morning!  The roads are covered with ice, so you can’t see the lines in the road.  BE CAREFUL!

We’ve got so much news we are WAITING for…casting details, more features coming, but alas, we sit here until the time comes to deliver!  Argh!  Yeah, yeah, I know patience!  Well, here’s what we do know.

sh_johnNobleTwo casts members of Sleepy Hollow got an upgrade to series regulars! John Noble  and Lyndie Greenwood were promoted for the sophomore season. The Hollywood Reporter says, “Noble’s Sleepy Hollow promotion puts him back in business with Fox as a series regular, where he had previously starred in Fringe.  Meanwhile, Greenwood, who portrays Abbie Mills’ sister Jenny, appeared in the majority of the 13-episode run.”

So yeah, Lyndie was already playing the part, so I am glad both get the notoriety and pay raise! READ ARTICLE NOW

Johnny Knoxville is REALLY looking forward to you grabbing a copy. “We had so much hilarious footage that we had to cut for various reasons, so I’m psyched that people are going to get to see everything, especially when it’s unrated and on Blu-ray. Woohoo!! Plus I think fans will get a kick out of seeing how we pulled off some of the pranks in the behind-the-scenes footage. As Irving would say, ‘The show’s not over until I hogwrench the fat lady’s spatooly.'”

Blu-Ray Combo Pack will come with an Unrated Cut with more footage, along with the regular theatrical version. The set also features over an hour of behind-the-scenes content, deleted scenes and alternate reactions from real people.  If you get the single-disc DVD there are NO special features.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 11/06/2013 – Sequel for Bad Grandpa, The PCAs, Sleepy Hollow, Oprah and more.

Bad_Grandpa_USA sequel is already in the works for North Carolina shot, Bad Grandpa! In fact it was already shot. The film’s lead star Johnny Knoxville has confirmed that an unofficial sequel is already being cut together. Just like the Jackass films before the old geezer flick, there is always a plethora of footage that hits the cutting room floor.  So, what do they do with all that footage? Release an unofficial sequel (dubbed “.5″) on DVD! But this time it will be slightly different as the new film will feature two Oscar-nominees cut out of the theatrical cut: Spike Jonze and Catherine Keener.  As for a full Bad Grandpa 2? Knoxville says he’s up for both. Bad Grandpa 1.5 will be released simultaneously with the theatrical release on DVD and Blu-ray.

A North Carolina shot comedy is in theaters tomorrow!  Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. The storyline involves a bad grandpa who takes a cross-country trip with his young grandson.  You don’t really see it here, but the trailer you see in theaters has a ton of North Carolina beauty including the Charlotte, Gastonia and Belmont areas.  One restaurant in particular was The Penguin restaurant in Charlotte. The flick stars Johnny KnoxvilleJackson Nicoll and Georgina Cates.

Still from “The Heroes of Arvine Place”

And speaking of Cullen Moss, our Wilmington-based actor has been killing it lately!  We just saw him do a hilarious scene in Eastbound and Down with Danny McBride in the season premiere, and now you can see him on the big screen during Cucalorus in The Heroes of Arvine Place (written and directed by Wilmington legend, Damian Lahey). It was in the Williamsburg International Film Festival in New York where it won Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor!  So give some love to Cullen for killing it and living the dream!!

The Squeeze is shooting at the Wilmington Municipal Golf course today.
