Meanwhile, state legislators have film incentives on the list to talk about today as they explore ways to make up for $600,000,000 of lost revenue.

State Rep. for Columbus, Robeson, and parts of Bladen Counties, Ken Waddell,  is on the Revenue Law Study Committee and when it comes to film incentives he said he would like to see state lawmakers increase them, since the film industry affects almost every county in our region. Amen brother!  Let’s hope all ears are open today!
“A part of Revolution was filmed in Chadbourn. There’s been some other filming going on in Whiteville and in other places. Filming is really important. It provides a lot of jobs to a lot of people. That helps small businesses pass the bucks around,” said Waddell.  READ THE STORY FROM WECT

Yesterday, Eastbound and Down release a tease for the season finale.  What?  Finale, you say?  I know, time is flying!  But there are a few left until we reach that point.  No doubt we all want to see the tease anyway!

Also during Cucalorus, Post 1200 invites you to stop by their open house Thursday-Sunday.  So many stars have passed through here for some post work and it was also the production office for Hallmark’s Christmas in Conway.  They will be doing some screenings and giving a tour of the facility along with some coffee and munchies!

Under the Dome’s Jolene Purdy aka Dodee

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 09/16/2013 Thom Tillis, NC Film Emmy Winners, tonight’s BIG night and more.

ThomTillisNorth Carolina State Rep Thom Tillis spoke at a picnic for Republicans over the weekend and weighed in on the film incentives. WECT has him quoted saying:

“I believe the film industry is critical to Wilmington, it’s critical in Charlotte, it’s growing in Ashville.  We’ve got to figure out a way to make sure that North Carolina’s competitive.  I think there’s a way to continue to move forward with tax reform but make absolutely certain that North Carolina is the go-to place for the film industry for productions and all the other good jobs that come with it,”

Second how about some mad kudos to our man Jeff Wolfe for Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series, Miniseries Or Movie – Our Stunt Coordinator killed it for “Revolution!”

Episode 3 of NBC‘s powerless show was remembered by these crazy two over the weekend.  I have to say I laughed when I saw these shots on Facebook this weekend.  We lost a location as Sticky Fingers is no more and apparently members of the Militia had to express there feelings about it!

The ‘rebel hideout’ where the Monroe Militia first captured Miles Matheson has been reduced to rubble…

People have asked me about the Disney casting call, whether or not it is legit.  Well, it is legit but be prepared to stand in line for a VERY LONG TIME!  Although they are trying to streamline the process, it’s still gonna be a crazy day.  Here’s the details:

Disney Channel and Disney XD will hold an open call audition Sept. 21 and 22.  It’s for kids ages 10-17.  The auditions will be at the Wilmington Convention Center Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for last names beginning A-M. They continue Sunday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for last names beginning N-Z).

Crazy blog post day.  This one is actually the 3rd one this morning, so check out the others.  Just so much to cover!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/16/2013 – Another star comes to Wilmywood, new ratings for UTD Pilot, Peter Jurasik and more.

Tuesday.  Man, Tuesdays officially make me crazy, now.  Thanks Under the Dome!  I always begin writing this blog at the buttcrack of dawn and then it never seems to be complete because Tuesdays are ratings day.  I sit here all antcy in my pantcy waiting for 11am EST to come!  Argh!  Well, such is life.  But we did get this in at six this morning.  Remember we had the pilot numbers at like 16.7 million.  Well they adjusted up!  AGAIN! Check out what CBS sent us this morning:

“UNDER THE DOME” PREMIERE BUILDS TO 17.76 MILLION VIEWERS WITH LIVE PLUS 7-DAY DVR PLAYBACK
Viewers +31%, Adults 25-54 +36% and Adults 18-49 +39%
With Live Plus 7-Day DVR Playback From Live Plus Same Day Averages.
The series premiere of UNDER THE DOME surged to 17.76 million Viewers with 7-day DVR playback, according to Nielsen live plus 7-day ratings for Monday, June 24 (10-11PM ET/PT).
Live + 7-day DVR playback for the premiere of UNDER THE DOME added:

> +1.3 rating points in Adults 18-49 (4.6 from 3.3, +39%)….
….from live plus same day results.

Another great episode last night the UTD folks we tweeting like mad.  I would like to especially point out that pig can now fly.  Yep, Alex Koch(Junior), who refuses to have a twitter account, is officially a half twit!  Jolene Purdy(Dodee) convinced him to LIVE tweet with her!  That woman has super powers!  I love her so much!!

UTD Script

Oh, and look what I got my hands on!  How would you like to own a piece of Under the Dome?  It could be your coming this September because we are gonna auction this beautiful autographed script during the Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon to benefit the new hospitality house.  More details to come!

WECT leaked the news yesterday.  Mary-Louise Parker will be our next star to head into Wilmywood  as Hallmark gets ready to roll for the TV movie, Christmas in Conway.  Production Begins August 5th.  We have some great local crew working on this one, including Emmy Young who was named as the Extras Casting Director last week.  Oh and FYI, Mary-Louise Parker will be on Kelly & Michael this morning.

peter jurasikOut on DVD today is 42.  You can see our very own amazing, Peter Jurasik.  I asked Peter when the movie was released what it was like to play such a controversial role, a racist in the movie 42.

“There is nothing more difficult in the process of playing a racist than playing anything else that you might have to play but have not experienced firsthand… like playing a homeless person or a less ( or more ) educated person than you — or in more extreme examples, playing a murderer, a pedophile, a abuser ( of drugs, alcohol, women ) or a terrorist. — I have tried to control people in my life, I have humiliated or belittled people in my life ( not proud of it, but true ). The actor takes the truth of his own experiences that intersect or cross with the experiences of the role as written… and if you can ‘ mix ‘ the two careful, you come up with a third entity called the character. A character who looks and sounds like you — whose emotions are fueled by your own experiences but speaks and acts like the person the author created when it was written. — Voila, I’m a racist.”

Very well said, Peter. You are a blessing to everyone in this community!

Looks like Eastbound and Down is taking over the fun parts of Oleander Drive.  The cast and crew heads over to Jellybeans today.  There will be over 100 extras in the skating rink.  With seven of the cast members, it looks to be a really fun day.

The Conjuring was shot here last year and it has finally arrived!  The reviews have been coming in for weeks now and the consensus is: THIS MOVIE IS GREAT AND WILL SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF YOU!  Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.  It’s based on the true story, so that always helps the fear factor.  I can’t wait!  It opens this Friday!  A lot of local actors landed some roles in this flick, so it gives us even more of a reason to see it.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/15/2013 The Weekend Afterglow

A great time was had over the weekend. Let’s start with the Pipeline to a Cure, the benefit to support Cystic Fibrosis.  We decided to auction off a date with Under the Dome’s John Elvis who came out to support.  We ended up raising $800.  Here’s some great photos from the night:

Toni Silvagni, our own surf hero here in Carolina Beach was honored on Saturday night, which means he didn’t get to go to the premiere party for The Perfect Summer that was shot here just a few months ago by Swirl Films.  But thank goodness they aired it multiple times over the weekend on the Up Network (TWC 283), so everyone got the chance to see it.  Have to give major kudos to Swirl for getting in some of the best establishing shots on our area.  Makes me wanna move there…oh wait…

1064036_10152992247495117_575935430_oSo, let’s flip back to Under the Dome real quick.  Episode 4 is tonight on CBS at 10pm.   As if living under the dome wasn’t already cruel enough, tonight Chester’s Mill is being hit with a meningitis outbreak, and to make matters worse the medical supplies are running low.

Don’t forget Live tweeting with the cast and producers at #UnderTheDome.   Or hang at the viewing party at Hell’s Kitchen downtown at 10pm.   The gang is shooting back in Currie, NC today.  They UTD4only have two more weeks of production before the cast heads to where ever they will go.  Still waiting for official word for a season two.  If that does indeed happen, we won’t have to miss the gang for too long.  The cast had another rambling weekend. Colin and Mackenzie joined Nick, Aisha, Rachelle, Dean, Jolene, John, Alex for dinner than all those over the age of 21 enjoyed the rest of the night downtown.

Finishing with some quickies, Michael Phelps was back in Wrightsville Beach over the weekend at The Yacht Club. Tomorrow, Eastbound and Down is shooting Union Missionary Baptist Church,  and Maides Park.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/08/2013 – It’s Dome Day once again!

It’s Dome Day once again, so either watch Under the Dome at 10pm tonight or set your DVRs!  And you know where to go for the viewing party.  Hell’s Kitchen is the place to be.  Some of the stars show up for the weekly event, you never know who is going to be there.  If you are a fan of John Elvis who plays the character Ben, he’s a regular, so stop on by and say hello!  Tonight is his big scene showing off his mad skating skills.  What were the stars up to this weekend? Rachelle LeFevre spent some time in Charleston over the weekend at the Market Pavilion Hotel and was especially entranced with their down home,  southern food.   Looks like Mackenzie Lintz went back to her homestate of MidnightRamblersGeorgia to hang with some of her besties.  Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong  and Alex Koch aka the Midnight Ramblers as they call themselves, rambled all over Wilmington.  Nicholas said they were at the beach, the pool, they barbequed, even had a dinner party set to Sinatra.  Here’s a pic they tweeted over the weekend.

Only a few days left to win a map of Chester’s Mill & a signed copy of #UnderTheDome by Stephen King! Enter now!

Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover fame, was hanging with some local friends at Topsail Beach over the weekend.  Did you see him?  I wonder if he is as ADD in real life as he is on the show.  No matter, he is sooo adorable!

Eastbound and Down is  shooting on Tabor Lane just off N Kerr Ave today.  There’s a casting call for Wednesday’s shoot from NCasting: EASTBOUND & DOWN: “This will work Wednesday.  I need 5 Mexican males ages 18 and up. Please spread the word!!! Have them email me a CURRENT photograph with the following information – NAME, AGE, HEIGHT/WEIGHT,

Excitement is filling the air as we gear up for Sleepy Hollow.  They begin production in two weeks. WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/05/2013

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Where were the stars celebrating? Well, wherever Eastbound and Down cast members celebrated, they got an extended weekend.  They won’t be shooting until Monday on Fremont St.  The Under the Dome folks are shooting in Burgaw today.  Rachelle LeFevre spent her time in Wrightsville Beach.  She was looking for someone with a boat.  Hopefully she found someone!  Other cast members also had a great time on the 4th.

dean norris ‏@deanjnorris “Grilling meat. Wrightsville Beach. A shit ton of explosives. Yeah, this ain’t CA we will be blowing shit up!! I love America. Happy 4th”

John Elvis (who plays Ben) was also out with the crazy kids! They spent their time pretty much all over Wilmington! There’s still a lot of questions about how the dome works.  So, here’s what we know so far.

zap2it_homeNo summer series has been more highly anticipated than Under the Dome. Based on a bestselling Stephen King novel, executive produced by A-list showrunner Neal Baer and with a cast that includes Dean Norris, Rachelle Lefevre and Britt Robertson, this is one summer show that isn’t debuting after the official end of the season because of a lack of network confidence. It’s intended to be a big event. So how big do you think its premiere tonight will be? MAKE YOUR PREDICTIONS NOW!
