THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 03/19/2014 – Director for The Longest Ride Named, UPM for FX, Under the Dome, Red Zone, Actor’s Arsenal

Howdy and Happy Hump Day!  This morning was super fun as Executive Producer/Director of UNDER THE DOME Jack Bender paid our studios a visit at Sunny 104.5.  We chatted about all things Dome and his Art Show that is coming up this Saturday. The interview is NOW posted.

The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery (200 Hanover St.) is  showcasing Under the Dome’s Jack Bender’s art NOW through the 29th of this month.  Three of his pieces will be from Season One  of Under the Dome.  Think Pink Stars!  We will also get a sneak peek at some of the beautiful pieces for the upcoming season. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 12pm-5pm.  However, a special night is reserved for you to mingle with the artist that is Jack Bender this Saturday, March 22nd from 6pm-9pm.

The Under the Dome folks started out smoothly on Chestnut St, but soon had to evacuate due to a gas leak.  One crew member said, “The gas smell is so bad, you can smell it all the way to Castle Street.”  But as they say, the show must go on, so the crew is quickly rearranging their shoot day.  Missing a day of filming is something that simply just can’t happen!  Good luck, kids!

MartySiuCongratulations are in order for a few peeps!  Yesterday we spilled the beans and let the world know our beautiful Marty Siu landed the extras casting gig for MAX STEEL. IF you would like to work on that feature film, READ MORE NOW  The Red Zone folks are shooting at Indepedence Mall and weather permitting they will be shooting at Maides Park tonight!

tillmanNicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride has named their director.  Congrats to George Tillman, Jr.! Tillman, best known for ‘SOUL FOOD’ (1997) with Vanessa Williams and Vivica Fox as well as ‘MEN OF HONOR’ (2000) with Robert DeNiro and Cuba Gooding Jr. This time around, George will be bringing the love story of “Sophia” and “Luke” to life.  George also spent 3 years ensuring the film INEVITABLE DEFEAT OF MISTER AND PETE written by Michael Starrbury would be  made. It’s debut was at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

michael-cera-john-hawkesAnd finally, congrats and welcome home David Brightbill!  FX’s How & Why just nabbed him from the Charlotte area.  He’s been working on Homeland for the last couple of seasons, but he coming back home to Wilmywood.  He’s been a 1st and 2nd AD on some of shows as far back as One Tree Hill, but he quickly moved up to be a production manager as well as a co-producer.  FX’s How and Why has deemed him UPM for the pilot.  Woo Hoo!  So glad you are back David!

kevin-sizemoreThis Friday, our favorite Domie, Kevin Sizemore will join us on The Sunny Morning Show.   He will be on ABC’s Resurrection this Sunday and guess who else is popping up?  Well, when asked, he said “I think it’s this Sunday.”  LOL.  Remember Reverend Lester Coggins of Under the Dome?  It’s Ned Bellamy.  So we got some Wilmywood love on the Georgia shot show, based on the book The Returned by our Bolton, North Carolina boy Jason Mott.

Wilmywood would like to give a special anniversary shout out to a family owned business that has helps our local talent prepare for film and TV auditions. Clifton Collins, Jr. Joins ABC’S Secrets and Lies Cast

Aaron Kaplan announced today that Clifton Collins, Jr. is joining the cast of ABC’S Secrets and Lies.  You’ve seen him in Star Trek, Pacific Rim and many other features and television shows.  Now he joins our star studded cat including Ryan Phillippe, Natalie Martinez, KaDee Strickland and Juliet Lewis.

Clifton will play Ben’s childhood friend who lives in Ben’s pool house.  He stands by Ben when he becomes the main suspect in 4 year old, Tom’s murder.

Congrats Clifton!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 01/15/2014 Michael Cera/John Hawkes Coming to Wilmywood, Sleepy Hollow, and more!

michael-cera-john-hawkesGoood Morning!  Hope you are having a pleasant one!  Man, what a week for breaking Wilmywood news!!  Yesterday afternoon, we got word that FX is bringing us the pilot “How and Why.”  The production will be set up at EUE/Screen Gems Studios by this Spring.  Look for Michael Cera and John Hawkes around town in the next few months!  A lot of Wilmywood folks met John Hawkes when he was on Eastbound & Down last year and are VERY excited to have him back!

Charlie-KaufmanThey have been signed to star in this comedy pilot which is coming from Charlie Kaufman.  The pilot will focus on Goodman Hesselman (John Hawkes)  who is the host of a children’s science show called “How and Why.”  But he is one of those book smart kinda guys with no people skills what so ever!  He is forced to start over, move to a small town, doing a completely different TV show and working for a much younger boss (Michael Cera).  As Deadline puts it, “things get awry when Hesselman encounters elements of the supernatural world during this new excursion.”  Yep, sounds like the autobiography of every news anchor I know in Wilmywood.  Perfect fit FX!

Meanwhile, FX also announced yesterday our North Carolina boy Zach Galifinakis is also going to star in a new FX comedy series co-written by Louis CK.  Congrats Zach!

RobertdowneyJrDid you know that our beloved Iron Man, Robert Downey, Jr. can sing?  He was on stage at a Sting concert and he sung the classic, “Driven To Tears”  Listen to THIS!! Yep, that is RDJ singing!  Wow!  You go boy!

Now on with a little Sleepy Hollow fun.  The ratings stayed flat, no adjustments with a 2.2 /6 among A18-49 w/ 6.4 million viewers.  When they factor in the DVR numbers, it will sky rocket per usual. Here’s what’s in store for us this Monday night!

Oh yeah!  Can’t wait!  Now, if you missed my interview with Tom Mison yesterday:  CHECK IT OUT NOW!

SPOILER ALERT: During those short 4 minutes, Tom did give us some intel about Nick Gonzalez‘s character, Detective Luke Morales.  He will be back for season two.
