WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 06/11/2013 – UTD, EBD, Tammy and More

Today kicks off the one of many days for one of the HUGE scenes for Tammy. Kathy Bates hosts the big 4th of July lesbian bash!  They will be shooting off Masonboro Loop Rd. near the sound.  Speaking of sound, tonight their will be a fire works test somewhere between 8pm-11pm, so don’t be alarmed but I wouldn’t bother going to bed early if you live nearby.  Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass join Ms. Bates with 100s of extras on hand!

The title of this movie is exactly what the creators of the movie poster for the Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy movie are getting.  Doing a horrible Photoshop job while taking (what the Hollywood Reporter says) 30 lbs off of Melissa is not exactly what critics and the public enjoy.  Read the full article.

Eastbound and Down is rolling this week.  I don’t see any locations for star-gazing today, but tomorrow’s blog will give you lots of chances to catch Danny McBride aka Kenny Powers around town.  Now is the time to be on the look out for Will Farrell as he is the producer for both EBD and Tammy.  Hit me up if you see him!

utd_wilmington_premiereflipperWe broke the news on Sunny 104.5 yesterday, full details on how to win tickets to the HUGE Under the Dome premiere.  Visit Sunny 104.5‘s web site for all the details!  Under the Dome is taking a small hop from EUE/Screen Gems down to Castle Hayne Rd. today.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am and 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Wilmywood Film Peep of the Day

Happy Monday!  Hope you had a great weekend!

utd_wilmington_premiere_sunnyI reported over the weekend about Under the Dome now being licensed in 200 international markets.  If you combine that with Amazon’s streaming services of the show, CBS can feel confident they can afford $43 million per season.  UTD will be a summer showcase that CBS hopes to continue annually.  The press has gotten their hands on the Pilot episode, and their comments are nothing short of curious and fabulous:

“the first hour is intriguing as hell and filled with a lot of storytelling promise. If viewers catch the pilot, they’ll be back for the next episode.”  ~ Tim Goodman, Hollywood Reporter

“the premiere episode did not disappoint and we are definitely hooked in for the summer. We hope you’re getting excited, because “Under the Dome” fans will surely enjoy this adaptation.” ~Andrea Reiher, Zap2It.

Under the Dome also made Entertainment Weekly’s Best-of summer TV list.

Make sure to listen to Sunny 104.5 THIS WEEK for your chance to win your tickets to the early premiere of Under the Dome with all the stars, writers and producers in attendance, June 20th, Thalian Hall, 6:30pm.  Oh, and I guess I should mention they will be shooting on the lot all day, so no star sightings today.

Now onto the fab folks of Tammy!  May I please be the first to welcome Kathy Bates to Wilmywood!  She will finally be shooting her big bash scene. If you remember the casting call about “Lesbians Wanted?”  Well, that call is what this week and next week is all about! Huge scene, with tons of Extras.  Today, however, they will be shooting at a few places, from driving scenes over the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge to  Winnie’s Tavern, on Burnett Blvd.  The interior shots at The Carolinian Inn on Market St. are currently underway.  You can count on Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Gary Cole and Mark Duplass being on set and hilarity to ensue!

Oh, the excitement over the past few days! First let’s kick it off with you!  I 399763_4508207793860_2135126136_ncannot stress enough how important it is to sign the petition.  If you wanna see how much the NCFilm industry has an affect on our state in a positive financial way, check out the annual reports on NCFilm.com.

utd_wilmington_premiere_sunnyOkay, now I am really getting pumped about the this!  The Under the Dome ticket giveaway on Sunny 104.5 could happen as soon as Monday!  So stay tuned and we will be giving full details on the air.  The folks will be on Chestnut St. today, then move to the lot for the remainder of the day.

20130605_201256-1I met another star yesterday on the set of Tammy.  Gary Cole (Office Space) was on set to shoot a few scenes.  They stay at the Blue Post (Blue Post Bar-B-Que in the movie) downtown for a third day.  No telling if they will be sticking to their schedule due to the first named storm of the season coming this way. They’ve already switched shooting schedules around to get many exterior shots out of the way before TS Andrea passes through Wilmington from the Gulf Coast.  I will be back on set today, so I will get more details!  The big 4th of July scene with Kathy Bates is next week They will be shooting that off Masonboro Sound.  Marty is looking for ladies 40+ for the big lesbian bash. And no you don’t have to be one to play one.  You must be available, June 11-14. Gonna be an awesome crazy 3 days for this scene! Check her FB page for all the details. When Marty posted this casting call yesterday, she got over 3000 emails inquiring about the gig from all around the world!  Good Luck sifting through all that, Marty!  Baaahahaaaa, awesome!

I haven’t talked about Fox’s Wild Blue in a while because if you remember production was shut down last month as they went into rewriting mode.  But I did get some new intel that might bring us hope.  Right now this is strictly rumor, but a source tells me that the lease of the property has not been pulled.  That is definitely a good sign.  Originally it was thought that if they did return to Wilmington it would be a late June start, but now I am hearing it is more likely that production would begin in September.  Wild Blue will have one of the biggest budgets in history for its pilot, reaching $15 million.  The cast list includes Mykelti Williamson (Bubba of Forrest Gump) as Master Chief Donald Bowman along with Josh SalatinWill RothhaarAlano Miller and Gina Rodriguez.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

BREAKING NEWS: NBC’s Revolution leaves ILM for the Lone Star State

An email went out late last night to the crew of Revolution which revealed the NBC show is leaving North Carolina and heading to Austin, TX for Season 2.

Show creator Eric Kripke wrote:

Hey everyone. So I wanted to thank you, sincerely and from the bottom of my
heart, for the absolutely amazing work on Revolution Season 1. Time and
again, you pulled off the biggest show on network television. Every week,
we gave you the impossible, and yet you always executed beautifully. You
guys can accomplish anything. So thank you for the skill, the talent,
and for the incredibly hard work– and long hours– and time away from your
families. It means a lot to me, and you have my undying gratitude.

I also wanted to let you know that, unfortunately, we’ll be moving the show
to Austin, TX, for Season 2. This is not a decision that was made easily or
taken lightly. We agonized over it. And we really regret losing such a
terrific crew. Seriously.

Please know that when I have a show back in Wilmington, I’d hire any of you
in a second. I’m sure our paths will cross again. Until then, I wish you
the absolute best. And again, warmly, thank you– for the hard work, and
for your beautiful town.”

So the question is WHY?

I see that some people are blaming politicians, and while I appreciate the spirit, I don’t think it had anything to do with that.  TX’s Film incentives aren’t so hot, either.  Check them out!  From what people are telling me, there are mixed reports.  Some said location scouts didn’t like what they saw in Texas.  Other said the opposite.  I heard they wanted to start back up in June, not September.  Wow!  Texas in June….Good luck with no ocean air!  Poor makeup artists!  Hopefully, we will find out why they left.  I will keep you posted.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 04/29/2013 Biggest Loser, Tammy, Revolution and More

Good morning loves!  Let’s get the quickies out of the way.  Ha!  I said quickies.

Okay, in case you missed it, over the weekend I told you NBC’s Revolution was picked up for another season!  Yeah!

Hundreds of local cast and crew filled the movie theaters at Mayfaire’s Regal Cinemas for a special screening of Iron Man 3 last night, which made $195.3 million internationally over the weekend.

Under The Dome – shoots at the old cement plant today in Wilmington.  On the Wilmywood Facebook page, I asked what movie or TV show was a favorite to work on, and the most popular was indeed Under the Dome.

The  stars make their way into town this week.  Melissa and Susan are already here, but we can look forward to Kathy Bates, Dan Aykroyd, and Toni Collette arriving this week.  Tammy begins filming this Friday.

And finally, I would love to see a Wilmington, NC resident this time around take this thing home! So, if you’ve always wanted to be on the Biggest Loser and have nothing to lose but the weight, attend the open casting call, Saturday, May 4th in Charleston. WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 04/26/2013 Another MEGA STAR rolls into town and more.

where-the-devil-hides_608x900Wanted to thank Robin who sent me this info because we had a lot of local cast and crew work on this one.  We have some updates on the flick,  “Where the Devil Hides” aka “The Occult” and “The Devil’s Rapture“.  Now that it has finally settled on a title, we can tell you that it also has a release date.  It’s slated to premiere on October 11th.  Alycia Debnam-Carey,  Rufus Sewell, Thomas McDonell, Adelaide Kane, Leah Pipes and Jennifer Carpenter star.

The big battle has ended.  Iron Man 3 will be playing at Mayfaire Regal Cinemas following a deal reached between Disney and Regal Entertainment Group.  I was asked if anyone in our local film community was upset by this.  Well, I cannot speak for all, but the consensus I guess was neutral. It was simply water cooler talk.

I was told this isn’t anything new.  Sony pulled this when the original Spiderman came out.  They announced they wanted more money and a theater company was so upset that they tried to pull advance screening and ticket sales.  Ultimately the studio won the battle.  Disney was kinda doing the same thing and as predicted Regal caved because, hell, they can’t afford to miss out on the money.  Inside sources told me, the battle between Regal and Disney was that Disney wanted 15% more of the ticket price.  In most circumstances, movie theaters make anywhere from 20-50 cents per tickets sold depending on the film…hence why concessions cost so much.

Now, back to the excitement of Tammy!  I told you last week Melissa McCarthy rolled into town, well you can now add Susan Sarandon to the list!  Yep, she is here, so restaurants, get ready to swoon her in to your establishments.  FYI, she likes long walks on the beach, animal rights and kids.

When is Dan Aykroyd, Toni Collette and Kathy Bates coming into town?  Check back, I will let you know very very soon.  (that’s called a tease).  There are tons of extras casting opportunities with this flick – visit the Extras Casting Director’s Page for details.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you Monday morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am live on Sunny 104.5.  Got scoop?  email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Second, the big budget film was originally scheduled to shoot 7 wks in Wilmington and 1 wk in Charlotte.  Well, it looks like Wilmington has everything they need, so they will stay right here in the Wilmington and the surrounding areas for the entire 8 weeks!   We can thank the location scouts for that!  We love you!

We are going to have to wait another week when when it’s time for the season finale of Revolution.   According to Nellie Andreeva of DeadlineTV, NBC has opted not to “double pump Revolution following the pre-emption of last week’s episode for a news special on the Boston bombings. Since the series had been slated for an originals-only run, the second-season finale, previously scheduled for May 27, will now air a week later, on Monday, June 3rd.”
