THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 11/05/2013 Under the Dome on DVD, Marilyn Manson, Nick Nolte, Robert Redford, Sleepy Hollow and more.

Robert RedfordAbout five years ago (maybe more), North Carolina got very excited about the film adaptation of Bill Bryson’s best-selling memoir, A Walk in the Woods. It was going to star Paul Newman and Jack Nicholson.  Newman was a little apprehensive about signing on.  According to a source, he said if he need the use of cue cards, he would not do the film.  Not much longer after that, the beloved philanthropist, took a turn for the worst and passed away.  All hope for the movie to be made was lost.  Skipping ahead to today, there is not only hope for the flick to rev up again, but two actors have recently signed on to the project. Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. According to NickNolteDeadline.com, the film is a road-trip comedy about an aging travel writer who decides to hike the 2,000-mile Appalachian Trail, accompanied by a long-estranged high school buddy he’s been avoiding for years. Along the way, the duo face off with each other, nature and an eccentric assortment of characters only to discover that some roads are better left untraveled.   Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno) is set to direct.  It is aiming for a March start and a release date of December 4, 2014.  Although we probably will never see it here in Wilmington, hopefully the mid to western part of NC will hopefully see its return!
tscc3 I gotta thank Jody Hill and Danny McBride for giving our local skating center some love, as they kept the real name of the business, Jellybeans.  If you caught Danny McBride on Jimmy Kimmel, he talked about Marilyn Manson being here in Wilmywood, doing a scene for Eastbound and Down.  And if you don’t have the premium channel, you might have missed his rolling cameo on HBO.  Check it out.

SH_HeadlessIt was great to have Sleepy Hollow back on the small screen! The ratings will be out after 11am EST.  Rest assured I will be on it!  We will see if we held on to our audience during the baseball hiatus.  Today, they are transforming Greenfield Lake Park into Manhattan park.   They will be filming the actors traveling through park talking and then argument ensues.  You might be able to check out the action from afar as they will be in between the skate park and playground.  They will be adding a cute little hot dog stand and some extra picnic tables for a little character.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/27/2013 Eastbound, Cucalorus, The Remaining and more.

timguineeTim Guinee (Charlie’s father from Season One of NBC’s Revolution) is back in North Carolina, but this time is is for our other NC hit show, Homeland. While he was in Charlotte, he had to sound off and be his usual grateful self complimenting the writers, the cast and the NC Film crew.  I had a quick exchange with Tim this morning and he said:

“Being a graduate of UNCSA in Winston-Salem, it’s always great to come back to work in North Carolina. So glad there’s so much work here.”  He went on in support of our NC Film Incentives, “I hope the state is smart enough to keep the tax incentives which are above all such a great thing for the NC economy. It would be sad to see all those jobs pack up and move to another state as it so often happens.”

Tim, we love your support and we definitely glad you are back in NC for a few days!  Love to you my friend!

Our Under the Dome creator Stephen King join the ladies on The View today 11am EST He’s there of course to talk about his new book, but I am sure they touch upon the success of our show.

Sleepy Hollow will be back in New Bern and it looks like they will have a very long day.  Crew members aren’t returning to Wilmington until Saturday.

nickGI have to say I love when our stars give shout-outs to the local restaurants.  This time it was Nick Gonzalez aka Detective Luke Morales on Sleepy Hollow who gave some kudos to Roko and Manna, which are of course two of the many favorite restaurants of the stars that pass through Wilmywood.  Thanks Nick! We appreciate you talkin’ local!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you Monday morning (unless something breaks) and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!!

07/29/2013 Eastbound, Sleepy Hollow, The Conjuring

Over the weekend, The Conjuring (even though it wasn’t first place thanks to The Wolverine), still held strong and earned $22.1 million.  Box Office Mojo predicts it to hit over $100 million by next weekend.

The Star News was throwing out all the hot news over the weekend.  First let’s start off with Eastbound and Down. Jeff Hidek reports HBO president Michael Lombardo offered up a bit of a tease about the future of Kenny Powers.   “You’ll find Kenny struggling with marriage, suburbia and his continued demons.”  Love me some Jeff!  Read his full blog –   If you subscribe to the Star News anyway.  Season Four airs on HBO September 29th.    The gang will be shooting at Independence Mall today.  MikeSpencer took some great pics from the 26th at Maides Park.  Check ’em out!

Production began over the weekend for Sleepy Hollow in New Bern.  Today they begin having a little fun at Tryon Palace also in New Bern.  The Star News reports, “Scenes for “Sleepy Hollow” that are being filmed at the Palace will primarily take place in the eastern courtyard — between the outer and inner gates — and the smokehouse, located just behind the Kitchen Office.”  See the entire article if you subscribe to the Star News Now.  They will continue to film in New Bern for the next few days before they return to Wilmington.

Although the Wrap party was this weekend, Under the Dome has only a few days left until they leave us for a few months!  They are back at the stage and a 2nd Unit is heading to the Ideal Cement Factory today.  Oh, and did I mention, it’s DOME DAY!  Woo Hoo!  Yes! I am so saving the best for last.  Episode 6 is on tonight baby!  10pm EST on CBS!  And of course, Hell’s Kitchen is the official viewing party headquarters, so if you head downtown, it’s the place to be!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 06/11/2013 – UTD, EBD, Tammy and More

WILMYWOOD FILM PEEPS OF THE DAY

Marci Perry and Kyle Lewis - Props

Marci Perry, Kyle Lewis -Props

Today kicks off the one of many days for one of the HUGE scenes for Tammy. Kathy Bates hosts the big 4th of July lesbian bash!  They will be shooting off Masonboro Loop Rd. near the sound.  Speaking of sound, tonight their will be a fire works test somewhere between 8pm-11pm, so don’t be alarmed but I wouldn’t bother going to bed early if you live nearby.  Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass join Ms. Bates with 100s of extras on hand!

The title of this movie is exactly what the creators of the movie poster for the Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy movie are getting.  Doing a horrible Photoshop job while taking (what the Hollywood Reporter says) 30 lbs off of Melissa is not exactly what critics and the public enjoy.  Read the full article.

Eastbound and Down is rolling this week.  I don’t see any locations for star-gazing today, but tomorrow’s blog will give you lots of chances to catch Danny McBride aka Kenny Powers around town.  Now is the time to be on the look out for Will Farrell as he is the producer for both EBD and Tammy.  Hit me up if you see him!

utd_wilmington_premiereflipperWe broke the news on Sunny 104.5 yesterday, full details on how to win tickets to the HUGE Under the Dome premiere.  Visit Sunny 104.5‘s web site for all the details!  Under the Dome is taking a small hop from EUE/Screen Gems down to Castle Hayne Rd. today.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am and 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Another Star Rolls Into Wilmywood!

Danny McBride Rolls Into Town

Enemy Mig has pushed production of Eastbound and Down: Season 4.  Originally slated to begin filming around the 28th of this month, it looks as though they won’t start shooting until June 11th.  Even though production has been delayed, it didn’t stop the star of the show, Danny McBride, from coming to Wilmywood.  Yep, he’s here and apparently spent part of his weekend at the movie theaters, seeing the #1 movie at the box office, Star Trek into Darkness.
