The Choice names their extras casting director.

The final Nicholas Sparks film of the year, The Choice, is set to begin production on October 13th and will continue shooting until the end of November. So that means it’s time to name that extras casting director!  So, who was their choice? (Ya see what I did there?)

MartySiuCongratulations to Marty Siu of Marty Siu Casting! Marty has just come off the longest ride ever!  No seriously, The Longest Ride, which of course is the other Nicholas Sparks movie that was here this summer.  Before that she did the extras casting for Max Steel and the pilot Red Zone.

If you would like to be an extra on The Choice more details will be given in the next 2 weeks.  Make sure you like her casting facebook page for more announcements.

The production will be shooting in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.

Congrats Marty!  Woo Hoo!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 06/10/2014 Film Incentives, Longest Ride Rodeo for Charity and more!

NCFilmRally050414_0082The state Senate gave final approval to the “grant” bill last night.  It’s being sent to the House.  However, from what I am hearing, it will die there.  So no Susi Hamilton bill, and no Bill Rabon bill. However, others still have the hope that HB 1142 will still make it.  If that is the case, it is in the finance committee.  Feel free to contact them and tell them you want HB1142 which keeps our 25% film incentives and ends the sunset.

Currently, the film incentives are not in the budget.  So, to put it bluntly we have nothing.  House Speaker Thom Tillis along with the House Republicans plan to reveal their spending plan as early as today.   That’s why today is so important.  Today is THE day my friends!

thom_tillisPlease Call, call and call Thom Tillis.  It only takes 20 seconds and human beings actually answer the phones.  They have to document every call they get, and they will take down your message!  Tell the folks who answer the phones to pass the message on to Thom that you are a voter, you want film to stay and you NEED him to put the film incentives in the budget.  Tell him to HELP us!  Email: Thom.Tillis@ncleg.net   Phone: 919-733-3451

We need YOU to do it, not someone else and not later.  We need you now!

With that being said, the group “Americans for Prosperity” has created an anti-film radio campaign statewide which began last weekend, calling our film incentives “Hollywood Handouts.”  Now, most of you know how ignorant that statement is, however, again, we must educate the public and let the truth shine on.  Film = Jobs.  Film = Community.  Film =Tourism.

ncfilm_paypal

We are running an ad campaign of our own on radio statewide and we need your help!! Please throw in $5 or more so we can run our radio ads about keeping the NC Film Incentives in NC. We are almost up to $1600! We need about $5000.00 Let’s keep it going NC!!! We need to make this happen in 24 hours! Chip in! I threw in $200, but you can throw in whatever you can afford! DONATE NOW!

Longest-Ride

The Longest Ride will be filming a rodeo scene late July, where the production will need to fill the bleachers with over 4,000 audience members. They are looking for volunteers who want to help a great cause at the same time!
The team of Extra Casting Director, Marty Siu, has contacted several charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to VOLUNTEER for this one larger RODEO scene. They will sponsor each person for $20 per person – per day. For each person we get to commit and show up the day of filming, production will give $20 per person back to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. THIS is a NON-PAID VOLUNTEER opportunity! No further payment will be made to the person other than the donation to CF.

The rodeo scene is three days, so if each person commits to all three days, you could triple the donation to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!  You do not have to commit to all three days in order to volunteer!  They are looking at late July around the Leland area. (Location subject to change).

If you are interested in volunteering, please email: 65rosesilm@gmail.com
Full name:
Email:
Phone number:
Age category: (adult, teen, or child – no one under 10)
Days committed – All three (OR) Name the day

Extra Casting Director, Marty Siu, will send out an email with the information (where to meet, what to bring, etc.) before the three days of filming. It could be a LONG day (up to 12 hours per day)  Again this is a volunteer position, but of course you will be fed handsomely!

screengems EUE/Screen Gems Studio Tours will NOT BE CONDUCTED this Saturday, June 14th due to filming on the lot. Tours will resume on Sunday, June 15th at regularly scheduled times: 10 am, 12 noon, and 2 pm.

MAX STEEL Names Extras Casting Director

MartySiu

I am proud to announce that our fabulous, hard working Marty Siu officially has the power to cast where no extras casting director has cast before.  MAX STEEL has got their gal!  Marty has been excited about this project ever since she heard about it months ago.  She is currently casting the NBC (for CBS) pilot RED ZONE.  The timing works out perfectly for her as she won’t even have a day off.  She will be joining the Dolphin/Mattel team on the tail end of RED ZONE’s wrap up.  Before that she was the extras casting director for SPONGEBOB 2 that was shot in Savannah, GA last year.

“I am a geek for cartoon and comic book movies, from Spongebob to Max Steel.  This is a great year for films in the Southeast, ” said Marty.

Marty has asked for all interested in being an extra on the feature film (if you haven’t already) to please register on her web site: Marty Siu Casting.  Home-schooled kids and teens, you are encouraged to register.

Also, be sure to check Marty’s casting facebook page for more details later today or tomorrow. And of course to give her some MAD LOVE!

ABOUT MAX STEELE: 16 year old Max McGrath is discovering that he’s got a strange electric energy that emanates from him when he’s upset or excited, and it’s starting to grow beyond his control. With his scientist father dead and his mom Molly unwilling to talk about what really happened in the accident that killed him, Max is resigned to trying to fit in to yet another new school–where he finds himself attracted to the quirky, independent-minded Sydney and develops a friendship with an old colleague of his dad’s, Miles Edwards. But the most startling thing that happens to Max is the arrival of a small, crab-like alien named Steel, whose memory may be faulty but who knows one thing for certain: he’s there to protect Max, and he’s been sent by Max’s father.

Meanwhile,  the love continues to pour for Sarah Jones, the beautiful camera assistant who died during the train accident.  A Slates for Sarah Facebook page was created and if you haven’t seen it yet, get ready to be moved.  God, I love this industry.  So beautiful and creative.  Yesterday, this page stood at 421 likes when I saw it.  Now it’s over 8500 and growing quickly.  No one will brush over Sarah’s death.  She matters.

This was a beautiful tribute.  Please share it with everyone!
A lot of people are also asking how Joyce Gilliard is doing.  She is the fabulous hair stylist that has worked here in Wilmington often (Sleepy Hollow, The Conjuring).  She was up for tweeting this morning.  She let everyone know how sad she is and just how devasting it was to go through it all.  She also cleared up a few things.
“I was hit by the train and not the debris. The worst day in my life. I will need counseling. My coworker died beside me.”
She said that she has metal and pins holding her arm together.  Lots of love and prayers to Joyce.  She is being released from the hospital today.

Marty Siu Dives into The Red Zone

MartySiuThe Nikki Tuscano project that NBC is shooting for CBS, The Red Zone has hired their extras casting director.  Congrats to Marty Siu of Marty Siu Casting.  After taking a nice break after Spongebob 2 in Savannah, GA, enjoying the time with her kids, she’s ready to get back in on the action.  And action is her forte.  It looks like this is a perfect marriage.

This is one of those edge of your seat shows that reminds me of the excitement 24 brings when it comes to thrills.  This is my kind of show!” Marty said.

Marty has asked for all interested in being an extra on the pilot (if you haven’t already) to please register on her web site: Marty Siu Casting

Also, be sure to check her casting facebook page for more details tomorrow.

About The Red Zone:

Former CIA operative Holden Weller has put his past behind him and now lives an uneventful life with his wife, Helen, and their daughter, Laney, in Vienna, Virginia, near D.C. The beloved football coach at a local high school, he has a particular bond with one of his star players, Jake Jordan, and is respected and liked in the community. But when his area is rocked by a terrorist bombing at the Smithsonian Museum during a class trip, Holden finds himself getting sucked back into the CIA and to the job he promised to leave behind, especially when he discovers that the prime suspect turns
out to be his second string quarterback, Jake Jordan.
