Toonstone, the first animated feature film from the Wilmington, NC-based production company Hank and Jed Movie Pictures (creators of the massively popular web series Battlefield Friends), will launch Tuesday, April 14, 2015. It will be available via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Xbox, Vudu and nationwide On Demand via The Orchard.

Toonstone is a western comedy about a country musician named Dalton, who becomes the sheriff of Toonstone after killing several outlaws…by accident. Wilmywood Salutes the Birth of the Bad Boy!

by April Vickery

Happy Birthday to two timeless bad boys: Johnny Knoxville and Ron Jeremy

Johnny is celebrating his 43rd birthday today! Mr. Knoxville is linked to our beautiful state by the film Bad Grandpa. In this film Johnny’s character, 86 year old Irving and his grandson, Billy go on a road trip from Nebraska to North Carolina. The good people of Charlotte and Garner will never be the same I’m sure!

Knoxville & Irving

Recently the Dickhouse (owned by Mr. Knoxville) and MTV production nabbed an award nomination at the Oscars for Stephen Prouty’s makeup effects. The movie is also nominated along other Wilmywood productions for several MTV Movie Awards including “Best #WTF moment” for the Beauty Pageant scene. If you haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil it. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you anyway.

ronjeremyA BIG birthday shout out goes to Ron Jeremy who made local headlines in 2013 by choosing to be a part of the Wilmington production of Dale Archdale written by our local boys Shane Thompson and Matt Warzel. Ron, who turns 61 tomorrow, played the father figure to our title character, Dale played by Matt Warzel. Matt can be heard and not seen in an episode of the Wilmington based show, Battlefield Friends as well as the upcoming Hank and Jed animated feature, Toonstone.  The film was shot entirely in Wilmington and produced by Cleveland Clowns Films. A release date has not been set.
