FILM INCENTIVES:  Today, we need to relax.  Things are in motion.  We successfully did our job over the past two days. We flooded Thom TIllis’ phone lines and thanked him and let him know what the NC citizens want — put the film incentives in the budget.  Thank you everyone!!  Results of our efforts will be revealed in the next 36 hours.  You rock!

The ads begin running tomorrow! We are running an ad campaign of our own on radio statewide.  Please throw in $5 or more so we can run our radio ads about keeping the NC Film Incentives in NC. We are almost up to $2000! We need about $1000 to hit the larger markets, and they are expensive!   Let’s keep it going NC!!! We need to make this happen TODAY!  Chip in! I threw in $200, but you can throw in whatever you can afford! DONATE NOW!

Our talented makeup artist Jeff Goodwin along with the CFIFN  are gearing up with a proposal to bring a Wilmington Film Museum to light!  Very excited about this! They are holding a public planning meeting Friday, July 11th at 6 p.m. July 11 at Giant on N. 23rd.  Got some good ideas?  Bring them with you! I am so there!  CHECK ‘EM OUT!

Although Max Steel has left our shores, they are still hard at work!  But first, lemme take a selfie!

The countdown continues!  19 days until the premiere of Under the Dome!  Are you getting as stupid excited as I am?  Woo Hoo! Our Domies are back at the Gypsum Plant today.  They will be out and about in plain sight tomorrow as well as the rest of the week.

Sleepy Hollow is not straying too far from the sound stages as they will be on One Tree Hill Way.  They are currently shooting Episode 3.

Joshua-Jackson-f02

Happy birthday from Wilmywood to Pacey….’er I mean Joshua Jackson! Ok… we all know him as “Pacey” from the WB show filmed here in Wilmywood, Dawson’s Creek! Our boy next door is all grown up and celebrating his birthday today! Although the
boyish good looks are still there, he is far from the kid we watched grow up on screen. Joshua has gone on to do voice over work for The Simpsons, played himself in Ocean’s Eleven, and is the executive producer and star of the Indie film One Week.
pacey_joeyNot to be out done by James Van Der Beek’s internet sensation “VanderFeelings,” Joshua has paid homage to his character with Pacey-Con. In 2010, Joshua camped out across the street from the famous San Diego Comic Con and handed out fan fiction he wrote himself. The footage of this hilarious and brilliant stunt was filmed and can be seen on Funny Or Die.

Speaking of writing, did you know our TV/Indie film star is also an author? Joshua wrote the first story from the comic book trilogy Beyond the Fringe which is called “Peter and the Machine.”

He acts, he directs, he writes, he produces and he has a great sense of humor and has been on the Sexiest Man Alive list three times!! . . . Who knew Pacey was such a catch? Actually… I think we all did.  Happy Birthday from Wilmywood Joshua!

screengemsREMINDER:  EUE/Screen Gems Studio Tours will NOT BE CONDUCTED this Saturday, June 14th due to filming on the lot. Tours will resume on Sunday, June 15th at regularly scheduled times: 10 am, 12 noon, and 2 pm.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY 06/02/2014 – Jack Huston joins The Longest Ride, Under the Dome and more.

Jack Huston

Good Morning!  Well over the weekend we said goodbye to our super hero action folks as Max Steel wrapped this weekend.  However, like they say, one door closes, and two more open!  So, who is walking right on through?

The gorgeous Jack Huston (American Hustle, Boardwalk Empire, Kill Your Darlings), has been cast as co-lead in the The Longest Ride.  As two stories collide in this romance, it looks like Jack will be playing the younger version of the elderly man who is trapped in a car following a crash.  As he awaits a rescue his life flashes before his eyes, and his mind is flooded with memories of his deceased wife.  Oona Chaplin will play his wife when she was young.

eastwoodScottAnd with all that being said, the dashing Scott Eastwood has made it into town.  Scott stars as the bull rider and those exciting scene will be shot in Winston-Salem, so I hear anyway!   Britt Robertson (Under the Dome) will be following shortly!  Production begins in just a couple of weeks.

Eriq-La-SalleOver the weekend, our handsome actor/director/author Eriq LaSalle rolled into town as well.  He will be directing episode 10 of Under the Dome. Over the weekend, he spent some time with Peter Weller who is directing episode 9.

Under the Dome will be out and about today, plus they are running a 2nd unit as well.  You might spot them on Sunnyvale Dr. and Chestnut St. today.

CalebJohnson

First off let’s congratulate Asheville, NC native Caleb Johnson who took it home last night and was deemed the season 13 winner of American Idol.  Woo Hoo!  Congrats Caleb!

PerfectSummerVia Director Gary Wheeler, some good news came out about the TV movie, The Perfect Summer.   The Christian Bookstore DVD release will be on June 3rd and Target and Walmart will be on August 5th.  Plus UPtv will be re-premiering the flick in June and it is already selling in the foreign market.  Great job cast and crew!!

Neil The Headless Horseman will be back. British actor Neil Jackson, who guest starred in Episode 7 of the first season of the drama Sleepy Hollow, is set to heavily recur on the Fox series in Season 2. He will reprise his role as Abraham Von Brunt aka the Headless Horseman.

Susi HamiltonYesterday, we made another tiny step towards keeping our NC film incentives.  Rep. Susi Hamilton’s bill to eliminate the end of North Carolina’s film incentives (the sunset) overcame its first hurdle in the General Assembly today. HB 1142 passed its first reading as the House of Representatives referred it to the Finance Committee. The next step will be for the Finance Committee to consider the proposal, which has support from members of both parties.  Read HB 1142 NOW

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 05/21/2014 Mike Doyle joins Max Steel, Loomis Fargo, Ashby, HB 1142 and more.

Happy Hump Day loves!!  Finally got some confirmations this week.  Let’s go!

My sources are telling me that the feature film, Ashby, starring Mickey Rourke, Nat Wolff, Emma Roberts and Sarah Silverman will be shot in Charlotte, NC  They should be rolling by mid-June.

Zach GalifianakisI got a confirmation from Relativity Media that they are taking the Untitled Armor Car Project aka Loomis Fargo to Asheville and will set up offices in that western part of the state as well.  Don’t fret!  Zach Galifianakis,  Owen Wilson, and Kristen Wiig will be headed our way to shoot a couple weeks in Wilmington as well.  They go into production in July.

mike_doyleThe trades finally announced that Mike Doyle has joined the cast of Max Steel. He is best known for his roles in Laws of Attraction, Green Lantern and P.S. I Love You, however he will make his next appearance on screen with Clint Eastwood’s big screen adaptation of Jersey Boys.  Rumor has it he will be playing Max’s dad, but I cannot confirm that at this time.

HB1142Yesterday, we found out Reps Susi Hamilton, Frank Iler, Ted Davis and Becky Carney (a blend of Rep and Dems) got together and filed HB 1142 in the NC House. This house bill would keep the state’s tax incentives for film projects from ending or as we call it “sunsetting.”  It was also raise the minimum to qualify for the incentives from $250,000 to $300,000.  Read HB 1142 NOW

Remember however, there will be short term wins and losses over the next few weeks.  So, don’t get too excited, but it is a great first step to get the ball rolling.

Now, we have done all we can do, letting Gov. Pat McCrory know that we need his help.  It’s time to move on to phase two.  Kinda going back to where we started.  But now more than ever it is very important we reach out to our own legislators and tell them that we support our film incentives and want them to stay!  Don’t know who represents you?  No problem!  (See Below)  It is crucial that you only reach out to those in your district!  Hate to say it this way, but honestly, if you are not a voter in another legislator’s district they could not care less about what you have to say. Make sure in your calls or email to your own representatives you stay positive and let them know how film impacts your life.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 05/15/2014 Another feature for NC, Short Session, Max Steel, Under the Dome, Firestarter 2

Happy Thursday my beautiful Wilmywood peeps!  Let’s dive right in.

Sources are claiming Langley Park Pictures is bringing North Carolina the feature film Ashby starring Mickey Rourke, Emma Roberts and Sarah Silverman.  They are supposedly going into production  mid-June.  So that means they are already in production.  I will keep you posted as to where.  As of now, I haven’t heard anything about them shooting here.  And honestly I hope they shooting another part of the state so we can spread our the film love.

andy_garciaAndy Garcia made his first appearance on set yesterday for Max Steel. He is playing the character Dr. Miles Edwards. Yay! Welcome back to Wilmywood, Andy! The crew is back on Middlesound Loop Rd.

The CBS Upfronts were yesterday and they brought us absolutely nothing about under the dome If fact we already know everything we need to know about the hottest summer show to hit the network. Under the Dome is plugging away gearing up for their June 30 premiere. Currently, they are shooting episode 8. They are sticking to their Monday night line up in their 10 p.m. time slot.  Our Domies are shooting on the lot today.

ScottDay One for the legislative short session arrived yesterday and it is already not sitting well with many folks.  Raging facebook posts were blended with truths and complete misunderstandings.  Just remember this short session is NOT short.  It will go to July.  Let’s not panic.  This will be the longest two months of our lives! If you don’t believe me, ask Scott Lope who has been battling for animal rights for years.  He knows exactly what we are going through emotionally and he gives us all a little advice when it comes to handling the ups and downs of the short session as well as how to present ourselves in regards to the film incentives.  LISTEN NOW!

Please send a message or phone call to our governor Pat McCrory as well as Sharon Decker and ask them to please HELP us!  Ask them to keep the film incentives at 25% because if they try to drop it, we are dead in the water!  Here’s their deets:

imageTNT announced they are creating a follow-up to Stephen King’s Firestarter novel, or as we like to call it a follow up to the film fire that made Wilmywood what it is today. The Shop this supernatural thriller centers on the titular organization that once exploited the pyrokinetic abilities of Charlie McGee (Drew Barrymore). They move 20 years later and we discover that Charlie has been tracked down by one of its former members, Henry Talbot.  Although they thought they  brought The Shop down all those years ago, we find out that is it is alive and more sinister than ever, unleashing terrifying new entities into the world. Of course Charlie can’t let that happen, so she is ready and determined to destroy it for good.  No word on casting or location yet.
