Good morning ILM!  Just a few tidbits this morning.  Under the Dome will be filming near downtown for the next few days.  And speaking of which, it looks like I am going to have to add another restaurant to my blog post,  “Where Does Hollywood Dine in Wilmington?” UTD star Rachelle LeFevre raved about Genki Sushi (4724 New Centre Dr).  She said, “Yummy gyoza, fresh sushi & homemade caramels! Can’t believe it’s not packed every night.”

People are gearing up and packin’ a bag as excitement is in the air for a lot of ILM peeps as they get ready to audition for The Biggest Loser in Charleston.  I will be giving away 10 VIP passes to jump right to the front of the line.  I caught up with Biggest Loser casting director, Holland Weathers.   Listen now!

The local cast and crew in ILM weren’t the only ones treated with a sneak peak of IM3 on Monday.  Hurricane Sandy volunteers got the chance to preview this monster of a movie as well. Robert Downey Jr stunned them by making a surprise appearance.  He said, “I just want to say thank you… Police Athletic League and all of you folks. I know you’re all here because you’ve been doing something special in the five boroughs, for this great city. You’re the future of the nation. I guarantee if you keep doing the right thing, you’re going to be running the joint in a minute.”

Don’t forget Port City Pop Con will be May 10th & 11th at the Wilmington Convention Center.  I am giving away VIP passes.  ENTER NOW

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am live on Sunny 104.5.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Happy Tuesday! Well,  NBC must be whistlin’ Dixie, and maybe a little of “We are the Champions”.  Kudos just keep coming for our Revolution!  Not only did they pick up a hefty 22 episode, season two, but TV Guide has now deemed the show a “Season MVP: This year’s Best.”

Revolution’s Giancarlo Esposito will be making a guest appearance this Thursday at the Country Club of Landfall for the annual fundraising luncheon for Coastal Horizons Center.  He will be getting personal, speaking about the things that have personally affected his life and family members.  This is a luncheon that should NOT be missed.  Tickets are still available by contacting Farah Boyce 910-790-0187 or fboyce@coastalhorizons.org.  They are asking for a donation of $50 or more to attend the event.

FYI: In case you wanted to know, Lesley over at the Hollywood Reporter has been keeping a close eye on the Upfronts.  Here’s her up-to-date list of all the shows for network TV.

Tammy begins shooting this Friday and they are employing A LOT of people!  And when I say a lot…good Lord!  During the next 8 weeks, they will be hiring 2000+ Extras for this film alone.  And it’s all local!  So thank you Melissa & Ben!  Marty Siu Casting will be quite busy. You can visit her Facebook page for all casting opportunities.

Marty wanted to give a big shout out to the many who worked on Iron Man 3 including Jackie Burch and Tona Dahlquist for the Casting & Extras Casting along with all the local actors who got some screen time including  James Rackley, Anthony Reynolds and many more.

Iron Man 3 isn’t doing too shabby either and it won’t even hit theaters here in the USA until tomorrow.  IM3 has grossed a total of almost $200 million over seas so far.  In its Italian debut last weekend., it is officially the most successful April opening in Italy grossing $11.3 million!  Robert Downey Jr. will be on the Kelly & Michael this morning as well as the Daily Show tonight.

Under the Dome will be on location today.  They kick things off at 15th/Rankin this morning then make a short company move to Chestnut St.  There are a lot of extras casting opportunities for the show.  Visit Vanessa NCasting’s Facebook Page for all the details.

Finally, Port City Pop Con is just around the corner and I would just LOVE to give VIP tickets away!  Soooo, here we go.  ENTER TO WIN NOW!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 04/23/2013 Another Mega-Star headed to ILM?

It’s a brief segment today.  Under the Dome will be back in Burgaw.  On a side note, I wonder if Dean Norris who is in UTD will reunite with one of his fellow cast members from Little Miss Sunshine, Toni Collette.  She will be here filming Tammy.  I also wonder if he even knows she will be in town?  I sent him a tweet so we’ll see if there will be a reunion.

Now, speaking of this big budget flick, we could see another mega star in the Port City, but he won’t be showing off his acting skills.  Will Farrell has signed on as producer of the comedy.  A cameo is possible, but he is focusing more on his producer role and he takes that seriously.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Got scoop?  email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Not too much going on in Wilmywood today.  Under the Dome is shooting in Southport today.

They are also looking for a stand-in for Rachelle LeFevre.  Casting details are as follows: Need a permanent Caucasian female red headed stand-in between 5ft 6- 5ft 8. You must be available to work almost everyday till July. I need someone with the color red that matches the actress below… You are guaranteed to make at least $125 for up to 10 hrs and time and a half after that.  Visit Vanessa Ncasting‘s Facebook page for all the details.

Last summer we had the honor of having the lovely Hillary Swank visit Wilmington for the HBO movie, Mary and Martha.  And now, we finally get to see it.   Mary and Martha premieres on HBO this Saturday, 8pm.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 04/17/2013 – Sid Haig, Sam Shepard and more.

Under the Dome is all over Southport today.  Locations include the riverfront as well  as a clinic on Fondale Rd.

SidHaig Local, brilliant filmmaker Craig Thieman’s independent film, Love Letter has added Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses/The Devil’s Rejects to the cast.  He arrived yesterday in Wilmington.  Other cast members of the Comedy / Horror include Wil Daniels, Sara Tomko, Nate Panning, Julia Lehman and Simon Crist.  Love Letter is based on the short film of the same name that Thieman shot many years ago for a local film festival.  What’s it about?  Well, this about sums it up:  “Garrett’s got a case of writer’s block. It turns out writing the perfect suicide note is not as easy as you might think. And it’s even harder when you’re writing it for an ex-girlfriend you’ve got tied up in your garage who, even though she totally deserves what she’s getting, unfairly refuses to sign the letter. Things get more awkward when people start showing up and stubbornly refuse to die. It sucks, but Garrett may just have to kill everyone.”

The short film was hilarious, plus Craig Thieman is an amazing filmmaker, so I expect nothing less than awesome when all is said and done.  Inspire Productions was able to fund the film through Kickstarter.

MV5BMjEzMjIxNzkwOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwODM5NzIzNw@@._V1._SX640_SY427_Another movie coming to Wilmington?  I do believe!  Folks from the low budget movie, Riverguard, have been doing some preliminary location scouting.  The flick is a courtroom drama, based on a true story.  The production team is reaching out to Sam Shepard for the lead.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Got scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

Happy Monday morning to you!  Not too much to report today, filming wise.  I can tell you that Under the Dome will be on the lot for the day, so no action on the streets today.  Here’s the teaser.  The series premieres on CBS June 24th!

The trailer is out for Arthur Newman, golf pro starring Colin Firth and Emily Blunt.  A story of a man who fakes his own death and assumes a new identity in order to escape his life, who then moves in with a woman who is also trying to leave her past behind.

The flick has a limited release April 26th.

peter jurasikOur own Peter Jurasik is in the film. And that’s not all Peter Jurasik was up to.  You get to see him in the movie, 42, which opened this past weekend and scored the best opening day ever for a baseball flick with $27.2 million.  So, yeah Peter!  We love you!

WECT’s Ashley Kosikowski did a nice story on a couple of LA actors who have moved here and opened an actors school here called the Actor’s Arsenal.

That just about does it for me. I’ll have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 04/09/13 – Another Journey for ILM?

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD

LISTEN TO PODCAST

Yesterday, I told you that HBO’s Eastbound and Down officially opened offices.  Now my sources tell me they will be shooting only 8 episodes this year, and they will split their time between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach.  Shooting begins in a few weeks.

Under the Dome will be pulling a double shift today and will be enjoying parks and recreation as they head to Halyburton Park in the early afternoon, then they will head to Greenville Skate Park.

Now, onto HUGE news…GINORMOUS! Technically, this is just a rumor, HOWEVER, my sources are telling me it’s a 90% chance of being a trumour at this point!

It’s looking really good for Wilmington to be the home of yet another journey.  Journey 3, that is!  Yes, the rumors are swirling about Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon coming to Wilmywood in September to begin prepping for production.  And it is very likely we will see Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson.  The production is awaiting contracts to be signed by these two stars.

This is great news for us financially.  Journey 2’s budget was a hefty $79 million, and it looks as though Journey 3 will match or go beyond.  A large portion of that spent right here in out home state!

If you remember last month I mentioned a Dolph Lundgren pilot is in the works.  The CW Network’s Rescue 3 is said to premiere this fall.  The Expendables co-star will tackle the role of Captain John Matthews.  In Rescue 3, a show which follows “the weekly adventures of an elite Southern California task force devoted to saving lives.”

With that being said, if you remember last week, I told you there might be another TV pilot looking to shoot here in June for 3 weeks.  Well, I am putting two and two together. Could it be Rescue 3 or another pilot or BOTH?  Guess we’ll find out soon enough.  It’s pure speculation at this point.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Until then, that’s a wrap!
