THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 01/07/2014 – Casting Directors named for Max Steel, Dawson’s Creek Reunion? and more

Happy Tuesday!  Hope you are surviving the Polar Vortex!  Got a few tidbits for ya.  Starting with Max Steel.

Max-SteelLooks like Max Steel is pushing their schedule just a bit, so offices are going to open a little later than initially planned.  I did get a confirmation this morning, so I gotta give a huge congratulations to Tara and Chase over at Feldstein|Paris Casting for getting the principal casting gig for Mattel’s live-action feature.  I was told there will be some nice day player roles for our local and regional actors.  With that being said, no casting calls have been lined up yet,  so DON’T pester them about roles, just tell your agent to be ready!  No word yet on Extras Casting.  I will keep you posted!

Max Steel tells the story of teenager Maxwell McGrath and alien companion Steel who can combine special turbo-energy powers to generate sensational superhero Max Steel. The storyline centers on bringing a positive and relatable hero to kids, drawing upon turbo-charged teamwork, laughter and friendship.

MovieWeb.com’s got some detailed info about one of the writers as well as the director:

Max Steel writer Christopher Yost most recently rewrote and did the production work on Thor: The Dark World for Marvel and director Alan Taylor. He also wrote the superhero adventure Secret Headquarters for Paramount and Stuber Pictures. Previously, Yost was a member of Marvel’s Writers Program, where he worked on the first ThorMax Steel director Stewart Hendler recently directed and executive produced H+, a digital series for Dolphin Entertainment and Warner Brothers Entertainment, winning a Best Director award and sharing in a Best Sci-Fi or Action Series award at The 2013 Streamy Awards. Hendler also recently completed work on the award-winning digital series Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. Between them, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn and H+ have garnered 24 industry nominations, thus far. He also manages an active feature film career, having directed the studio features Whisper and Sorority Row, as well as developing several large-scale studio projects.

david_billyLove that local media is putting our local actor David Andrews in the spotlight.   He’s got a four episode gig on the new NBC show, Crisis. Congrats David!  Before this project he had a little fun on Brad Pitt’s  World War Z.

DawsonAccording to Ok! Magazine, Katie Holmes is interested in taking part in a reunion of our teen drama, Dawson’s Creek.  If you remember earlier last year Michelle Williams was itching to do one as well. As of now there is nothing scheduled or scripted, but if something does indeed brew, I will let you know.  READ ARTICLE NOW

SLEEPY HOLLOW: RATINGS REPORT – Sandman brings sweet dreams to FOX

sandman

The Sandman gave us nightmares last night, but sweet dreams are coming true for FOX with the 3rd Episode Sleepy Hollow.  The overnight numbers are in and it looks as though Sleepy Hollow was #1 in it’s time slot, keeping 7.93 viewers on the edge of their seats (adjustments will come later today).

What do the experts say?

Gaude Paez Morose  – Nice to see that #SleepyHollow held up well in Week 3, with a 3.0/8 in Adults 18-49 (vs last week’s 3.1/8)!  #ScarySandman

.

Joe Adalian – SLEEPY HOLLOW hanging in there, notches 3.0 A18-49. Renewal assured.
.
.
Deadline | TV ‏ – Logging an even stronger hold than The Blacklist was Fox’s newbie Sleepy Hollow (3.0/8), down just a tenth (3%) from last week.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/27/2013 Eastbound, Cucalorus, The Remaining and more.

timguineeTim Guinee (Charlie’s father from Season One of NBC’s Revolution) is back in North Carolina, but this time is is for our other NC hit show, Homeland. While he was in Charlotte, he had to sound off and be his usual grateful self complimenting the writers, the cast and the NC Film crew.  I had a quick exchange with Tim this morning and he said:

“Being a graduate of UNCSA in Winston-Salem, it’s always great to come back to work in North Carolina. So glad there’s so much work here.”  He went on in support of our NC Film Incentives, “I hope the state is smart enough to keep the tax incentives which are above all such a great thing for the NC economy. It would be sad to see all those jobs pack up and move to another state as it so often happens.”

Tim, we love your support and we definitely glad you are back in NC for a few days!  Love to you my friend!

Our Under the Dome creator Stephen King join the ladies on The View today 11am EST He’s there of course to talk about his new book, but I am sure they touch upon the success of our show.

nickGI have to say I love when our stars give shout-outs to the local restaurants.  This time it was Nick Gonzalez aka Detective Luke Morales on Sleepy Hollow who gave some kudos to Roko and Manna, which are of course two of the many favorite restaurants of the stars that pass through Wilmywood.  Thanks Nick! We appreciate you talkin’ local!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 09/16/2013 Thom Tillis, NC Film Emmy Winners, tonight’s BIG night and more.

ThomTillisNorth Carolina State Rep Thom Tillis spoke at a picnic for Republicans over the weekend and weighed in on the film incentives. WECT has him quoted saying:

“I believe the film industry is critical to Wilmington, it’s critical in Charlotte, it’s growing in Ashville.  We’ve got to figure out a way to make sure that North Carolina’s competitive.  I think there’s a way to continue to move forward with tax reform but make absolutely certain that North Carolina is the go-to place for the film industry for productions and all the other good jobs that come with it,”

First, for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role – Give it up for Banshee!  2013: Armen V. Kevorkian, Visual Effects Supervisor; Mark E. Skowronski, VFX Producer; Jane Sharvina, 2D Supervisor; Rick Ramirez, 3D Artist; Jeremy Jozwik, 3D Artist; Mike Oakley, 3D Artist; Nick Sinnott, VFX Artist; Gevork Babityan, Compositing Artist; Andranik Taranyan, Compositing Artist.

Second how about some mad kudos to our man Jeff Wolfe for Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series, Miniseries Or Movie – Our Stunt Coordinator killed it for “Revolution!”

Episode 3 of NBC‘s powerless show was remembered by these crazy two over the weekend.  I have to say I laughed when I saw these shots on Facebook this weekend.  We lost a location as Sticky Fingers is no more and apparently members of the Militia had to express there feelings about it!

The ‘rebel hideout’ where the Monroe Militia first captured Miles Matheson has been reduced to rubble…

UTD4I had the honor of speaking with Jolene Purdy who plays Dodee on Under the Dome over the weekend.  I will have the complete interview posted in a separate blog which should be up by lunch time.  SPOILER ALERT!  If you haven’t seen episode 12, don’t listen!  It does reveal a big plot point that you wanna see before you listen to the interview!

UTD_ScriptThe auction is underway for those great autographed items from some awesome Wilmington Productions including:  Tammy, The Conjuring, Sleepy Hollow, Under the Dome and even a Screen Gems Experience with a 2 Night Hotel stay!  All proceeds go to this year’s Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon!  BID NOW!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/04/2013

Under the Dome was not only the winner in its time slot but easily took the whole night with 10.71 million viewers.  TV By The Numbers reports:

On CBS, with the Time Warner carriage dispute finally resolved, Under the Dome earned a 2.6, up a tenth from last week’s 2.5 adults 18-49 rating. It’s impossible to say whether the restoration of CBS to TWC customers in 3 markets was responsible for the rise.

Encore Magazine wrote an article yesterday that is a fantastic read about the film incentives and those affected by it. Check it out.

And oooh my goodness, look at what’s arrived!!!! The trailer is here!  Eastbound and Down Season 4!

IMAG0404I had the honor of hanging out on Stage 10, the dream stage of Sleepy Hollow for a bit as our London correspondent, Lauren Watt, is in town.  Let’s just say I was geeking out probably more than she and her mate was!  Major kudos to the crew the production grabbed.  Solid.  If you know me by now, you know there was a major hug fest going on yesterday!    I LOVE OUR NC CREW SO MUCH!  Mad talent! Stage 10 by far is the most beautiful multi-set I have ever seen.  And of course they have also taken over other sound stages as well as the back lot!  Let’s hope Fox is here to stay for a long time.  If the pilot is any indication of how good the show will be, we will have ourselves a long time to love them.  The series premieres September 16th on Fox!

Sleepy Hollow has two units running today. They will be back on stage 10 today and the 2nd unit will be doing some driving scenes on MLK Parkway (23rd St. ramp to N. Kerr intersection).

The Dempsey Sisters wrapped yesterday in Brunswick Forest.

NBC’s Revolution Season One is now out on DVD and Blue Ray as well as digital download!  Get yourself a piece of Wilmington Film History 🙂
