The psychological thriller, The Harrow, keeps popping up on the NC Film radar. First back in July and now last week. It supposed to be shooting in Charlotte and New York. I believe it is an indie flick. The projected start date is October 13th. Don’t know much else. I will keep you posted.

Last night on Under the Dome, Big Jim finally learned the shocking truth about what really happened to his wife, Pauline, when they were reunited. Meanwhile, climate change posed a new threat to Chester’s Mill.  After the Emmy’s took all the viewers last week, we expect to see much better ratings this week!  I will posted them later today!

In the meantime, here’s a clip for next week’s episode! Junior finally sees his mom again but it doesn’t go well.

Today is the last day to get 15% off all t-shirts.  I got some new ones in, so get the discount while you can!

WILMINGTON, NC: Crew Call for ‘The Choice’

A crew call is officially out for the Nicholas Sparks adaptation, The Choice.

The Nicholas Sparks feature, The Choice, is now accepting crew resumes. Send your resumes to: TheChoiceProduction@mail.com with your position in the subject line.  Production is slated to begin October 13th.  This project will shoot in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.

Along with Nicholas Sparks, it looks like Theresa Park and Peter Safran will be producing.  Welcome back to both!  Peter was here not long ago producing The Conjuring. Theresa didn’t have too much time in between shows as she was just here working on the other Sparks movie, The Longest Ride. Same goes for Mark Garner who has been named Production Designer yet again.  Congrats!

The UPM is our fabulous local  guy Chris Bromley, who we all know and love. Behind the scenes, he’s actually been working on The Choice for months now.  Before this Sparks flick, he was the UPM for the TV pilot Red Zone, and the Wilmywood shot Tammy and The Conjuring.

Directing is Ross Katz.  Ross is a Oscar and Emmy nominated director/producer.  He won the DGA award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television/Mini-Series for Taking Chance (2009). This will be his first gig in Wilmywood.

Production is set to begin October 13th and will have a 30 day run.

Two neighbors, Travis  Parker and Gabby Holland, become more than just friends in a small coastal town in North Carolina.

The Longest Ride receives big welcome from Elkin, NC.

We all know that small businesses benefit in a huge way when any film production rolls into a location.  And the town of Elkin, NC was armed and ready.

Elkin rests on the Yadkin River in Surry and Wilkes counties.  The population is around 4,000 and is 6.2 square miles. It has been deemed one of the coolest town’s in America. Seriously, look how adorable this town is: http://www.downtownelkin.com/

As the cast and crew of The Longest Ride headed 40 miles to the west of Winston-Salam, they had no idea just how charming the people were as well.  When they arrived at their hotel, they got quite a warm welcome.

The hotel greeted the production with a catered reception provided by a local eatery – they had a buffet, with hors d’oeuvres, wine and other snacks.

TotebagI was told the owners were so excited about them coming to town and choosing their hotel, that they wanted everything to be perfect for their week and a half stay.

The hotel had replaced all of the in-room furniture just for them, and upon arrival the cast and crew were handed totebags with goodies and info about the local attractions and businesses.

One of the crew members said, “Everyone in town has been so welcoming, and we’re very excited to spend our free time, and per diem, at many of the local businesses.”

The cast and crew are in multiple hotels and are enjoying the beginning of their stay.

NC Film – everyone benefits.

World class film crew: What does that really mean?

The Longest Ride. Image credit: David Pascua

We hear it all the time.  North Carolina has a world class film crew.  You hear it from producers and directors on every project that comes here.  But what does TheLongestRide071014_0152that really mean?  Sure, we know we have the best, but why?  I caught up with producer, Marty Bowen.  Besides already having a connection to our crew with Safe Haven, Marty has worked with film crews all over the country with projects such as the Twilight Saga, Dear John and the latest The Fault in our Stars.  Now he is here for The Longest Ride.   He explains why our NC Film crew is world class and what it actually means.
