Jack Bender’s Art Show w/ Under the Dome Cast

We’ve talked about it all week, and IMPO it was better than expected.  And that’s saying a lot. Robbie McKeithan did a PHENOMENAL job putting it all together! A beautiful art show last night at The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery (200 Hanover St.) in downtown Wilmington. EP/Director/Artist Jack Bender just needs a simple title.  Creative.  Whether its imagining for film or canvas, he is a brilliant man.  A great crowd  assembled and mingled throughout the evening – a lot of NC Film crew members and many of the cast members of Under the Dome:   Mackenzie Lintz, Colin Ford, Alex Koch, John Elvis, Nicholas Strong as well as  newcomers Karla Chrome and Grace Victoria Cox paid a visit as well.  Here’s some fun photos from the event!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/15/2013 The Weekend Afterglow

A great time was had over the weekend. Let’s start with the Pipeline to a Cure, the benefit to support Cystic Fibrosis.  We decided to auction off a date with Under the Dome’s John Elvis who came out to support.  We ended up raising $800.  Here’s some great photos from the night:

Toni Silvagni, our own surf hero here in Carolina Beach was honored on Saturday night, which means he didn’t get to go to the premiere party for The Perfect Summer that was shot here just a few months ago by Swirl Films.  But thank goodness they aired it multiple times over the weekend on the Up Network (TWC 283), so everyone got the chance to see it.  Have to give major kudos to Swirl for getting in some of the best establishing shots on our area.  Makes me wanna move there…oh wait…

1064036_10152992247495117_575935430_oSo, let’s flip back to Under the Dome real quick.  Episode 4 is tonight on CBS at 10pm.   As if living under the dome wasn’t already cruel enough, tonight Chester’s Mill is being hit with a meningitis outbreak, and to make matters worse the medical supplies are running low.

Don’t forget Live tweeting with the cast and producers at #UnderTheDome.   Or hang at the viewing party at Hell’s Kitchen downtown at 10pm.   The gang is shooting back in Currie, NC today.  They UTD4only have two more weeks of production before the cast heads to where ever they will go.  Still waiting for official word for a season two.  If that does indeed happen, we won’t have to miss the gang for too long.  The cast had another rambling weekend. Colin and Mackenzie joined Nick, Aisha, Rachelle, Dean, Jolene, John, Alex for dinner than all those over the age of 21 enjoyed the rest of the night downtown.

Finishing with some quickies, Michael Phelps was back in Wrightsville Beach over the weekend at The Yacht Club. Tomorrow, Eastbound and Down is shooting Union Missionary Baptist Church,  and Maides Park.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/08/2013 – It’s Dome Day once again!

It’s Dome Day once again, so either watch Under the Dome at 10pm tonight or set your DVRs!  And you know where to go for the viewing party.  Hell’s Kitchen is the place to be.  Some of the stars show up for the weekly event, you never know who is going to be there.  If you are a fan of John Elvis who plays the character Ben, he’s a regular, so stop on by and say hello!  Tonight is his big scene showing off his mad skating skills.  What were the stars up to this weekend? Rachelle LeFevre spent some time in Charleston over the weekend at the Market Pavilion Hotel and was especially entranced with their down home,  southern food.   Looks like Mackenzie Lintz went back to her homestate of MidnightRamblersGeorgia to hang with some of her besties.  Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong  and Alex Koch aka the Midnight Ramblers as they call themselves, rambled all over Wilmington.  Nicholas said they were at the beach, the pool, they barbequed, even had a dinner party set to Sinatra.  Here’s a pic they tweeted over the weekend.

Only a few days left to win a map of Chester’s Mill & a signed copy of #UnderTheDome by Stephen King! Enter now!

Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover fame, was hanging with some local friends at Topsail Beach over the weekend.  Did you see him?  I wonder if he is as ADD in real life as he is on the show.  No matter, he is sooo adorable!

Eastbound and Down is  shooting on Tabor Lane just off N Kerr Ave today.  There’s a casting call for Wednesday’s shoot from NCasting: EASTBOUND & DOWN: “This will work Wednesday.  I need 5 Mexican males ages 18 and up. Please spread the word!!! Have them email me a CURRENT photograph with the following information – NAME, AGE, HEIGHT/WEIGHT,

Excitement is filling the air as we gear up for Sleepy Hollow.  They begin production in two weeks. As far as casting goes for the Fox show, I do know they will be looking for Revolutionary War re-actors really soon. I will keep you posted or you can check for more details at Revo Casting Calls on Facebook.”

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 07/05/2013

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  Where were the stars celebrating? Well, wherever Eastbound and Down cast members celebrated, they got an extended weekend.  They won’t be shooting until Monday on Fremont St.  The Under the Dome folks are shooting in Burgaw today.  Rachelle LeFevre spent her time in Wrightsville Beach.  She was looking for someone with a boat.  Hopefully she found someone!  Other cast members also had a great time on the 4th.

John Elvis (who plays Ben) was also out with the crazy kids! They spent their time pretty much all over Wilmington! There’s still a lot of questions about how the dome works.  So, here’s what we know so far.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 6/28/2013

Big questions and many of them from Monday night’s premiere of Under the Dome.  Perhaps this is the one I have heard the most: “Why don’t they just dig their way out?!”  That question will be answered this Monday night.  The people of Chester’s Mill are shooting at the old cement factory in Castle Hayne.

So what is the cast talking about?

Nicholas StrongNicholas Strong @NicholasStrong – Thanks to our crew who keep us moving along & on schedule #Underthedome We love you and your effort is always appreciated!
.
Mackenzie Lintz Mackenzie Lintz ‏@mackenzielintz – Absolutely LOVING all these storm clouds here in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina!
.
.
dean norrisdean norris ‏@deanjnorris – Spectacular, scary awesome lightning storm at Wrightsville beach. I MEAN BEAUTIFUL Thank god DOMA gone, cause I wanna f***ing marry you.

MULLET ALERT:  Danny McBride and his Eastbound and Down crew are staying out of the rain, shooting on the lot again today.
scottparksOn to the local front of filmmaking.  The short film, “Disposable Generation” is looking for extras tonight through Sunday.  The cast includes some great local actors including Devin Mcgee, Scott Parks (Vampire Diaries), Tara Williams, Zach Pappas, and Ashleigh Lineberry.  They are in need of 25 extras aged 18-30 for the weekend for a house party scene.  This  exploratory short narrative “meanders through a handful of arrogant, hollow Gen-Y’ers as they navigate their inherited anxieties, their layered philosophies, and ultimately, their excuses to carry on as they are.”  If you are available, email rejaccard@me.com with the subject like : “TDG -extra”.  This is a nopay gig, but know that you are supporting local filmmakers!

UC_Poster_1_copy.largeAlso handsome local boys, Dominic Santana and Chaysen Beacham, are asking for your support with their project, The U.C.  They have 13 days to go on their kickstarter for this police drama. “With the fall of criminal organizations another rises in it’s place. To counteract this this recurring problem, the FBI sanctions a classified experiment to raise one headed by their own U.C. and controlling major crime. (Under Cover)”
