So last week, I hinted at some really cool construction going on for MAX STEEL.  Well, my sources are telling me Ideal Cement is gonna be the Max Steel Headquarters.  It feels like TMNT all over again! And it looks like director Stewart Hendler is confirming the location.

I chatted via twitter with Ana Villafane over the weekend and she is pumped about playing Sydney.  Ben Winchell, who will be playing Max McGrath is gonna have one hell of a wardrobe, one piece in particular.

MAXSTEEL_CASTWriter Christopher Yost was doin’ a little bragging last week, saying “Know what else is ridiculously awesome? The suit for the Max Steel movie.”  Okay, seriously, I am starting to geek out about this flick.  Ahhhh! Let’s go into production already!

Under the Dome is headed to Southport today for a little church scene.   A lot of cast member on set today including Dean Norris, Mike Vogel, Rachelle LeFevre, and Eddie Cahill to name a few.

AshleyMarchingBandAnd now we always walk about Film=Jobs, but more importantly we need to discuss what film does for a community.  There are a ton of stories that you never hear, so I am gonna make sure to bring them all to light!

Jenny called The Sunny Morning Show on Sunny 104.5, and she told her story of how a television production (RED ZONE) has helped the Ashley High School Marching Band. READ STORY NOW

How NC Film Impacts our Community, our Kids

We always talk about Film=Jobs, but more importantly we need to discuss what film does for a community.  There are a ton of stories that you never hear, so I am gonna make sure to bring them all to light!

A listener called The Sunny Morning Show on Sunny 104.5, and she told her story of how a television production (RED ZONE) has helped the Ashley High School Marching Band.

“My daughter goes to Ashley High School and she was part of the filming on Thursday and Friday! They had about 35 members of the Ashley High School band out there!  The band got a nice chunk of money and they needed it! The money is going to go towards really anything they need, which is a lot! They had just gotten back from MPA on Thursday and they scored all 1’s (Superior). So they were on a high from that and then they went over there to film. My daughter had the best time. They all did and it really helped out the band tremendously!”

This is money that just wasn’t there for the marching band that has bettered our community, our kids, who live right here in Wilmington!  Thank you NC Film! FILM=Better Community

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 03/20/2014 – Paley Afterglow, Under The Dome, Red Zone, and more

WILMYWOOD_READHEARWATCH_BLOG

by Sheila Brothers and April Vickery

Gooood Morning!  Happy 1st day of Spring!  We made it!
MattLauerAnd to kick off such a glorious day let’s thank the Today Show who gave us a shoutout! My buddy Martin reported that Matt Lauer announced, “This morning’s sunrise comes from beautiful Wilmington, NC.” They do a couple of sunrise shots each morning from around the country , and they couldn’t have picked a better city!

tscc3

Are we sleep deprived yet again? If you guessed, “Yes!” you are one smart cookie! We were up late streaming Paleyfest with the Sleepy Hollow cast! The Twitter world was a mad house last night as the SH cast and creation team took the stage at Paleyfest!

Paley_Madness

What a GREAT Q & A session!! What will happen in S2? Well, how about the return of beloved characters? (Dead doesn’t exactly equal gone on this show and we all know sometimes you can run, but you can’t hide.) How about new characters? According to the writing and creative team, “amazing new foot soldiers are coming and we need to be on the look out for a new dangerous creation: Headless faces.” Spooky!

rheartnetworkWar & redemption are themes of course! Will the Leftenant be left in purgatory? Can Ichabod give his son the ultimate “Time Out?” Who’s dead? Who’s coming back to life? Who’s going to be the law man now that Frank is locked up?

Watching the live stream of the cast last night was amazing! This show grabs you in and keeps you there in the midst of the supernatural, the scary and the outrageous because above it all, there is such a great dynamic of friendship and family in the storyline and very obviously in real life with these cast mates!

We can’t wait to have SH back in Wilmywood.  Production begins in May. Catch all the PaleyFest Q & A highlights NOW  and Follow @Wilmywood on Twitter to recap all the live tweets from the cast.

Dwight-YoakamDwight Yoakam is brigin’ his cowboy hat Under the Dome. And Entertainment weekly claims his character has been there the entire time!  WHAT?   Lyle Chumley is his name.  He runs the Chester’s Mill’s barbershop. And you know there will be some serious conflict as he was supposedly romantically involved with Big Jim’s dead wife!   READ MORE NOW AT EW

The Under the Dome folks head over the bridge to Winnabow today.

DavidPaymerGot some more great cast news for RED ZONE!  With over 200 film and TV titles under his belt, David Paymer had joined the cast. Lately, he’s been directing and producing HART OF DIXIE. We will play the role of “Banks.”  Welcome to WIlmywood, David!

David CarzellAlso, let’s welcome David Carzell back to Wilmywood! He is no stranger to the southeast as he has worked on ARMY WIVES in South Carolina and he was here in Wilmywood not long ago for Greg Kinnear’s STUCK IN LOVE.

Soo, it looks like Mason Dye will be too busy with Teen Wolf to play Mark on REDZONE.  So, in comes Cameron Deane Stewart.  Make that two Disney kids in the zone.  Crazy fast switch out.  So, I’m thinkin’ here’s what went down.  Mason said, “gotta keep it real with my outrageous fans in the teen drama world!  Peace Out.” Producers were frightened and were scrambling until Stefanie Scott chimes in…”So, I know this guy…” and BAM the new Mark was born!

::::Awkward pause as April gives Sheila a glaring glance::::

Sheila: What?  It could’ve happened! ::::sigh::::  Okay, fiiiinnneeee! April will wrap this up.  Take it sister!

cameron_deane_stewartCameron Deane Stewart is in! He’ll fit in on set with his Disney alum co-star Stefanie Scott. He was known as “Steven” on iCarly and “Jace” on Austin & Ally. Cameron Deane is best known for his role in the big screen in Pitch Perfect with Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, but he has quit a following with the Indie crowd for his role in “GEOGRAPHY CLUB”.

WILMYWOOD_READHEARWATCH_BLOG

Howdy and Happy Hump Day!  This morning was super fun as Executive Producer/Director of UNDER THE DOME Jack Bender paid our studios a visit at Sunny 104.5.  We chatted about all things Dome and his Art Show that is coming up this Saturday. The interview is NOW posted.

JackInStudio

The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery (200 Hanover St.) is  showcasing Under the Dome’s Jack Bender’s art NOW through the 29th of this month.  Three of his pieces will be from Season One  of Under the Dome.  Think Pink Stars!  We will also get a sneak peek at some of the beautiful pieces for the upcoming season. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 12pm-5pm.  However, a special night is reserved for you to mingle with the artist that is Jack Bender this Saturday, March 22nd from 6pm-9pm.

The Under the Dome folks started out smoothly on Chestnut St, but soon had to evacuate due to a gas leak.  One crew member said, “The gas smell is so bad, you can smell it all the way to Castle Street.”  But as they say, the show must go on, so the crew is quickly rearranging their shoot day.  Missing a day of filming is something that simply just can’t happen!  Good luck, kids!

MartySiuCongratulations are in order for a few peeps!  Yesterday we spilled the beans and let the world know our beautiful Marty Siu landed the extras casting gig for MAX STEEL. IF you would like to work on that feature film, READ MORE NOW  The Red Zone folks are shooting at Indepedence Mall and weather permitting they will be shooting at Maides Park tonight!

It’s debut was at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

michael-cera-john-hawkesAnd finally, congrats and welcome home David Brightbill!  FX’s How & Why just nabbed him from the Charlotte area.  He’s been working on Homeland for the last couple of seasons, but he coming back home to Wilmywood.  He’s been a 1st and 2nd AD on some of shows as far back as One Tree Hill, but he quickly moved up to be a production manager as well as a co-producer.  FX’s How and Why has deemed him UPM for the pilot.  Woo Hoo!  So glad you are back David!

kevin-sizemoreThis Friday, our favorite Domie, Kevin Sizemore will join us on The Sunny Morning Show.   He will be on ABC’s Resurrection this Sunday and guess who else is popping up?  Well, when asked, he said “I think it’s this Sunday.”  LOL.  Remember Reverend Lester Coggins of Under the Dome?  It’s Ned Bellamy.  So we got some Wilmywood love on the Georgia shot show, based on the book The Returned by our Bolton, North Carolina boy Jason Mott.

Wilmywood would like to give a special anniversary shout out to a family owned business that has helps our local talent prepare for film and TV auditions. ACTORS ARSENAL was founded in 2013 by married actor couple Ron and Allie who left L.A. for the opportunities offered here in Wilmington. Ron and Allie are the owners and instructors at Actor’s Arsenal.

Celebrity comic book artist Phil Jimenez was in town to help raise money for the Wilmington based non-profit, JasonMottAnimal Warriors.  Mind blowing talent and a super nice guy!  But who did we discover is a comic book fan?  None other than author, Jason Mott.  I really think I embarrassed myself, I totally freaked out and went all fangirl on him!  Ha!  But he agreed to come talk to us after he meets his deadline on his latest book, so I couldn’t have been that horrible.  Or maybe this will be a pity interview! Either way, look forward to hearing him on The Sunny Morning Show on Sunny 104.5  in about two weeks!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 03/17/2014 RED ZONE – The Complete Cast List

The RED ZONE cast is complete.  The final cast member to be announced is… DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

kim-dickens copyCongrats to Kim Dickens!  This lovely southern girl has been seen on the big and small screen.  You might have seen her as Janette Desautel on HBO’s TREME, as Joanie Stubbs in HBO’s DEADWOOD or as Colette Jane on FX’s SONS OF ANARCHY.  In the movie world, she’s been in top notch flicks such as THE BLIND SIDE and coming this October she plays Detective Rhonda Boney in GONE GIRL.  Welcome to Wilmywood Kim!

So, who are the stars and what characters do they play?  Here’s your complete cast list.

And the stars are already enjoying Wilmywood as RED ZONE held it’s first private cast dinner at 1900 Saturday night.  The owner Ken Oliver and executive chef Kirsten Mitchell, along with the staff threw down an amazing menu of food and beverage.

1900Director James Foley along with Producers Nikki Toscano and Bill Johnson spent a fun evening meeting and greeting each other in Wilmywood.  Some of the cast members enjoyed the evening as well.  In attendance was Kevin Rahm, Samantha Mathis, Graham Rogers, Stefanie Scott and David Castro just to name a few.  Our sources tell us the cast and producers (especially Nikki) completely fell in love with the place and the food.  However, that is just another day for Ken Oliver: delicious perfection.  Ken hosted the Tammy cast several times last year and they gushed over the food and atmosphere as well.

Today is officially day one of production.  They will shooting in the Forest Hills area.

Welcome to Wilmywood, RED ZONE peeps!

Mason Dye, Haaz Sleiman, David Petruzzi join Nikki Toscano’s Red Zone

by April Vickery

Big week for RED ZONE! Three more members have joined the cast as “Silas”, “Amir” and “Mark”.

UCzGDCmxNineteen year old Mason Dye will be playing the role of “Mark.” Mason is mostly known for his role in the TV series, DIARY OF AN AMERICAN CHEERLEADER but more recently for the 2014 on screen adaptation of the controversial 1979 novel FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC by V.C. Andrews.  In the Lifetime original movie, Mason played the role of “Christopher” the oldest brother of the children growing up in the attic of their cruel grandmother’s home. Just a few days ago, it was announced that Dye will also have a reoccurring role on season 4 of MTV’s TEEN WOLF.

HAAZ SLEIMANThe role of “Amir” will be played by Haaz Sleiman. Although the Lebanon born actor was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his work in film as “Tarek” in ‘THE VISITOR’, he is no stranger to television. Haaz’s resume includes NURSE JACKIE, NIKITA, 24 and COVERT AFFAIRS. He is also an accomplished stage actor. He appeared in the NY play FOOD AND FADWA.

DavidPetruzzi“Silas” will played by newcomer David Petruzzi. By the looks of his resume with roles in SAVE ME (2007) DIRTY GIRL (2010) and FLEETWOOD (2006) this man will be bringing some serious acting chops to RED ZONE.

RED ZONE is shaping up to look like an amazing series and I can’t wait to see it! Welcome to Wilmywood, gentlemen. We are excited to have you.

SamanthaMathisSamantha Mathis is returning to Wilmywood, but this time she won’t be Under the Dome.  She joins the quickly assembled cast of REDZONE.  Mathis will play Olivia Jordan. Great news for the Under the Dome cast and crew.  They will be glad to see her again. This time around she is playing it straight as Kevin Rahm will play opposite Mathis as her husband, Paul Jordan.

Kevin RahmKevin Rahm has been on the small screen pretty much nonstop since 1995.  He’s most well known for playing the character Lee McDermott on DESPARATE HOUSEWIVES and most recently as Ted Chaough on MAD MEN.  But I still have a love for his time as Kyle McCarty on JUDGING AMY.  Congrats Kevin!
