Under the Dome will be filming in Southport today.

Tammy, the big budget flick starring Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates is still in pre-production.  But if you are looking to be an extra on this comedy, they will begin taking submissions within the next two weeks.  I, of course, will give you the info you need when I am allowed to tell you.

Plus, I’ve got more scoop for ya on this movie,  really really big news actually, but I will reveal that tomorrow.  Wow, I totally did a Ryan Seacrest on ya there, didn’t I?  I will tell you…after the break!

But I digress…

The lovely Cassie Foss at the Star News solved the mystery yesterday, about the pilot looking to shoot here in June.  It’s coming from the Fox network.  Wild Blue is about a group of men and women working aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.  So far they have been scouting the Coty Inc. plant in Rocky Point.  It stars Mykelti Williamson (Bubba of Forrest Gump) as Master Chief Donald Bowman along with Josh Salatin, Will Rothhaar, Alano Miller and Gina Rodriguez.

The show will follow a group of young working sailors aboard a battleship.  Hey Fox, we got one of those!  Just sayin’!   No word whether a location scout have been to the USS North Carolina.

Still not counting out Dolph Lundgren’s Rescue 3 coming here yet.

UNCW Seahawks one more day to win a contest that would bring  actors Seth Rogen and Craig Robinson to campus for an advanced screening of the comedy This is the End, which will hit theaters in June.

The web site Eventful is hosting a contest for the celebs to show up at the college with the most online demands

The contest ends tomorrow.  VOTE HERE.   UNCW is in second place, only behind the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Tickets are officially on sale!  Ironman 3 – filmed right here in Wilmington and the surrounding area will open in local cinemas on May 3 in three different formats, including 3D and IMAX.  Of course they will have the midnight showings as well.   Purchase your tickets now from Fandango!

At Regal Cinemas, you can see the film in IMAX for $15.75 or in 3-D for $13.75. Or, do the marathon!  Watch all three Iron Man films back-to-back for $35.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Post your comments below or if you got some scoop, send it my way:  sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 04/09/13 – Another Journey for ILM?

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD

Yesterday, I told you that HBO’s Eastbound and Down officially opened offices.  Now my sources tell me they will be shooting only 8 episodes this year, and they will split their time between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach.  Shooting begins in a few weeks.

Under the Dome will be pulling a double shift today and will be enjoying parks and recreation as they head to Halyburton Park in the early afternoon, then they will head to Greenville Skate Park.

Now, onto HUGE news…GINORMOUS! Technically, this is just a rumor, HOWEVER, my sources are telling me it’s a 90% chance of being a trumour at this point!

It’s looking really good for Wilmington to be the home of yet another journey.  Journey 3, that is!  Yes, the rumors are swirling about Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon coming to Wilmywood in September to begin prepping for production.  And it is very likely we will see Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson.  The production is awaiting contracts to be signed by these two stars.

This is great news for us financially.  Journey 2’s budget was a hefty $79 million, and it looks as though Journey 3 will match or go beyond.  A large portion of that spent right here in out home state!

If you remember last month I mentioned a Dolph Lundgren pilot is in the works.  The CW Network’s Rescue 3 is said to premiere this fall.  The Expendables co-star will tackle the role of Captain John Matthews.  In Rescue 3, a show which follows “the weekly adventures of an elite Southern California task force devoted to saving lives.”

With that being said, if you remember last week, I told you there might be another TV pilot looking to shoot here in June for 3 weeks.  Well, I am putting two and two together. Could it be Rescue 3 or another pilot or BOTH?  Guess we’ll find out soon enough.  It’s pure speculation at this point.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Until then, that’s a wrap!
