Feature and Pilot coming to NC, Max Steel hires LP, Sleepy Hollow 2, Full Belly Project.

Happy Monday Wilmywood!  Lots of great news this morning!

Max_DoggieWell, it looks like not only will North Carolina see Max Steel, but we will also see, Max! Get ready dog lovers, here comes a family adventure from MGM Studios, Sunswept Entertainment and Picture 8 Productions.  This family adventure film is inspired by true events.

A Belgian Shepard Malinois military working dog returns from active service in Afghanistan traumatized by his handler’s death. Erratic and dangerous, Max is adopted by the bereaved family and bonds with the marine’s troubled 14-year old brother. Together they unravel the secret behind his brother’s death and pull a family together again.

BoazYakinAlthough we cannot confirm if it will shoot in Wilmington, we can say it will be NC proud.  Production begins May 5th and will wrap around June 20th.  Release date is set for 2015. Producing is Karen Rosenfelt (Percy Jackson / Twilight).  Writer/Director/EP is Boaz Yakin. This  is Yakin’s first family film since Remember The Titans. He most recently wrote Now You See Me, which our Sleepy Hollow buddies Kurtzman and Orci produced.

Do we have them to thank for bragging about North Carolina and bringing Max here? If that is the case, Now You See Me 2 begins production in September and we can all hope that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci bring that production here, too.

SEASON2And speaking our buddies, it looks like we can expect to branch out when it comes to the small town of Wilmington, aka Sleepy Hollow.  TV Guide reports that  the producers are ready to get Ichabod Crane out of his comfort  zone in season 2; not that he has been completely comfortable with new technology and Starbucks on every block.  “He’s been in this town the whole time and he’s adapted very well, but I’d like to see his reaction the first time he gets on an airplane,” Orci says. “We were joking that he thinks, ‘Oh, are we driving all the way there in this thing?’ And then the plane takes off. Imagine seeing the White House and all the stuff that he never got to see that are the fruit of his labor and his sacrifice. Things like that will blow his mind.” READ ARTICLE NOW

Continuing with ties and undecided locations, George Parra is working on the feature film Risk that is going to begin production this summer.  It would be nice to see him come back a third time as he produced two films here: A Good Old Fashion Orgy and The Squeeze.

Max-SteelNow onto Max Steel, congrats to David Grace, he has been named Line Producer for Mattel’s flick, produced by Bill O’Dowd and Julia Pistor (Spiderwick Chronicles).  Writer is Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World) Director: Stewart Hendler.

The story revolves around 16 year old Max McGrath (Ben Winchell) who discovers that he’s got a strange electric energy that emanates from him when he’s upset or excited, and it’s starts to grow beyond his control. With his scientist father dead and his mom Molly unwilling to talk about what really happened in the accident that killed him, Max is resigned to trying to fit in to yet another new school–where he finds himself attracted to the quirky, independent-minded Sydney (Ana Villafane) and develops a friendship with an old colleague of his dad’s, Miles Edwards. But the most startling thing that happens to Max is the arrival of a small, crab-like alien named Steel, whose memory may be faulty but who knows one thing for certain: he’s there to protect Max, and he’s been sent by Max’s father.

Moving on to another TV pilot.  CBS is bringing another pilot to North Carolina. Currently it is a Untitled Nikki Toscano Project written (and produced) by yes, Nikki Toscano (Revenge). They are currently set to begin production March 17th. Producer will be Kerry Ehrin.  The drama centers on a retired CIA operative who, when a terrorist event rocks Washington, D.C., is pulled back into action, forced to investigate closer to home where the next generation of terrorists are being bred.  No word yet on whether this production will be in Wilmington.

REMINDER: “Hollywood East” panel, hosted by the New Hanover County Public Library is tonight at 6pm Northeast Regional Library, 1241 Military Cutoff Road.

The panel includesg Bill Vassar (EUE ScreenGems), Johnny Griffin (Wilmington Film Commish),  Vanessa Neimeyer (NCasting),  and Terry Linehan (UNCW).  They will be talkin’ a little about everything.  This is not a rally for the incentives, but it will be a nice chance to chat with everyone.

Plus, our friends from Basecamp Luxe will be on hand with one of the three Vintage Airstream trailers that are available for rent for TV/Film productions.  If you haven’t seen them, here’s your opportunity!  They are AWESOME!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 11/13/2013 Amandla Stenberg, Sleepy Hollow, Tales from the Darkside, Dance-A-Lorus, Brothers Olson

Amandla+StenbergGood morning Wilmywood!  I am so pleased to tell you that later today, I have an interview with the fabulous Amandla Stenberg.  At the moment she is working on Sleepy Hollow, playing Macey, Captain Irving’s daughter.  Her debut episode will be November 25th.  This 15 year old is beautiful inside and out.  Not only is she a gifted actress but she believes in giving back.  She will talk to us about her being a youth advocate for the No Kid Hungry Campaign.

Sleepy Hollow’s final numbers came in and The Midnight Ride adjusted up a tenth – 2.6 rating, 7 share, with a little over 7 million viewers.   And speaking of fabulous shows with fabulous writers and producers, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are teaming with author Joe Hill to “resurrect” one of my favorite shows from the 1980s – Tales from the Darkside!  How EXCITED are you! According to Vulture.com:

“The CW has been looking to develop a new take on the syndicated series for a while now, and with Hill, Kurtzman and Orci on board, the network has ordered a script for the project. The CW is also poised to move quickly on the project: If it likes the script, the network could air the reboot as soon as this summer. Like the original George A. Romero-created series, the new Tales episodes will be 30 minutes long, episodes will be self-contained and every minute will be designed to scare the hell out of viewers. Mitch Galin, Heather Kadin and Jerry Golod will also serve as exec producers on the project, with Hill writing the script.”  READ COMPLETE ARTICLE NOW!

Oh and by the way, Joe Hill just happens to be the son of Stephen King. See the connection there?  The man who links our 2 hit shows together.  Now if they would shoot this in Wilmywood…

Noble will play Henry Parrish, a kind and reclusive man who possesses supernatural powers that have the potential to help Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison).  He’s gonna need it.  If you remember a few days ago, we reported James Frain’s entrance to the show playing the character Rutledge, an Oxford Professor, who holds secrets that could cause problems that could affect Crane’s mission.

Sleepy Hollow kicked some ratings booty Monday with 10.1 million viewers and is officially the network’s most viewed fall drama debut in seven years.

More  details are circulating about Season 2 of Under the Dome.  Rumor has it, they will be telling the crew at the end of the month.  Now I am curious to know if they will indeed continue the Summer trend or bring it back sooner.  The show is so hot, I dunno if the fans can wait for 10 months for more!  But we will find out soon enough!  The crew will be in Forest Hills this morning, then they move to the sound stage at Screen Gems, then a short trek to the back lot in the woods.  In the meantime as The San Diego Comic Con gets underway, the Under the Dome Comic Con poster was revealed yesterday!  I sooo want one!

BREAKING WILMYWOOD NEWS: Sleepy Hollow coming to Wilmington?

Looks like 20th Century Fox Television isn’t done with North Carolina when it comes to their new show, Sleepy Hollow.  Although they shot the pilot in the Charlotte area, they have been scoping out Wilmington for the rest of the season.  My sources tell me the show is more than likely coming to our area.  So, like I said in Monday’s blog, it wasn’t a bad thing that Revolution has moved to the Lonestar State, as we will have the crew base to support another TV series! Sure hope this pans out for us!   I will keep you posted as more information comes in!   So see the preview of the show, see below.
