Stage8Under the Dome is gearing up for day one of episode two this morning.  They are still on the lot, stage 8 I believe, but they will be heading out to their other locations tomorrow and next week in Currie and Burgaw.

It’s day one for Red Zone! Wellkinda.  They will be doing some test shoots downtown this evening.  Their big official day one is on Monday.  Poor cast and crew, it’s gonna be a cold one tonight!  We are still waiting on their choice for the leading man, “Holden.” I’m thinking today is the day.  It better be, whoever lands the role will kinda need to know his lines.  Can you imagine?  “Hey, fly in that cue card!” Ha!

RED ZONE STILL NEED MORE STUDENT FOOTBALL FANS to work on Thurs & Friday, March 20 & 21, WHO HAVE NOT YET SUBMITTED. These extras MUST be at least 16 yrs old. Ages 16-25 please. MUST LOOK LIKE YOU ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL. This will be a night shoot (possibly 6pm-6am).  GET MORE DETAILS NOW

Some more local love from the stars!  Yeah, Shanley missed us!  She’s been away for too long!  Okay, well since The Conjuring, but that’s entirely too long!  We got her hooked on PCJ!  Remember, Miss Caswell is working on the Red Zone.  She is playing Holden’s daughter, a “cute but slightly awkward teenager with a lively interest in world affairs.”

Secrets & Lies is back in Porter’s Neck today. So get ready for more  hotness on set.  Ryan Phillippe, Natalie Martinez and of course our favorite fun guy producer Aaron Kaplan.

Auditions are underway for Overflow Entertainment’s The Sin Seer.  Good luck to those auditioning today! They are hiring as many local actor and crew as they can!  Love it!

Steve_ProutyYesterday, we watched the Oscar Nominees roll in and two North Carolina got recognized. We expected Iron Man 3 to get a nom, and it did for Visual Effects. But our jaws dropped when we saw the next one. After all, when do you ever see a comedy EVER get a nomination at the Oscars? It’s a rare occurrence. But hey, we’ll take it! So HUGE congratulations to Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa! The Hair and Makeup department got the nomination! Very well deserved! Johnny Knoxville looked amazing! Makeup artist Steve Prouty said in a statement:

“I’m very proud of having been a part of this film,” Prouty said. “We worked very hard each day to help bring Irving Zisman to life and are eternally grateful to have worked with someone like Johnny Knoxville. He is a true talent.”

AngieNow let’s head to Charlotte, NC for a spell.  Actress Angie Harmon ( Law & Order, Rizzoli & Isles)  was appointed to the Studio Charlotte board. She gave her plea to Charlotte City Council members yesterday to approve Studio Charlotte. The developer has until the spring to convince city leaders to OK the plan to remake the Eastland Mall site.   READ STORY NOW

Also on the Charlotte front, in the latest issue of Production Weekly, they report Charlotte will get the feature film, The Sharp Files later this year.  This suspenseful flick is about a professional psychiatrist, Laura Sharp, who struggles with her own mental state after the death of her husband and two children. She must work to find out what is real as she deals with four mysterious and dangerous patients.  M.J. Alhabeeb Jr. will direct.

If you didn’t see it yesterday, WWAY’s Daniel Seamans did a cute little blurb about a man we all know and love in the film industry – Chunky!  Check it out now: Extraordinary People: The grip who was sponsored by the Terminator

WILMYWOOD DAILY EXCLUSIVE: Marvel’s Savage Wolverine

WolverineSavage

LISTEN TO PODCAST

scott lopeI am so excited to get the exclusive on this story.  Our boy, Scott Lope, the founder of Animal Warriors based right here in Wilmington, is now officially a comic book writer!  Who is Scott Lope?  For those who don’t know, Scott is a major animal advocate and was deemed Animal Planet’s Hero of the WARepoYear just a couple of years ago for the work that he did with lions and tigers.  You may have spotted him on the Discovery Channel as the star of Wild Animal Repo (First two episodes are available on Netflix).

Scott is always looking for new avenues to raise awareness about the plight of wild animals.  One medium that has rarely touched on this subject is super hero comic books.  He was able to take his passion to pen and as a lifetime comic geek, found the perfect place to tell the story.  He was hired by Marvel to write a kick ass Wolverine story with superstar artist Phil Jimenez.  The result is Savage Wolverine issues 12 and 13.

“In telling this awesome Wolverine story, we found the perfect place to really make people understand the severity of the poaching epidemic on rhinos and elephants,” Scott said.  “This is truly an extinction event that most people have no idea is happening as we speak.”  He really turned the light on in my brain when he said,  “an elephant is killed for its ivory tusks every 15 minutes.”

elephantWhat?  So, lemme get this straight, while I am watching Sleepy Hollow, there are four elephants killed.  That’s four elephants that are never coming back.  That blows my mind.

The first part of the story (Savage Wolverine issue 12) goes on sale Wednesday, November 27th.  It will be available at all comic book stores nationwide as well as a digital download on Marvel.com.

elephantsThe best part (and why I truly LOVE this guy) is that a big portion of any money he personally receives from this project will go to SanWild Rhino Sanctuary in South Africa to protect the animals he so dearly loves!

If you want to help Scott and his Animal Warriors or get involved in any way, contact Scott directly through his facebook page!
