THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 10/13/2014 Day One for The Choice, Sleepy Hollow, More Protest Coverage

Ahhhhh!!! It’s day one for our 2nd Nicholas Sparks flick, The Choice! They are filming at Dockside today. No Tom Welling on set today, but you can probably spot the handsome Benjamin Walker. Also Maggie Grace and our local boy, Jesse Boyd! Jesse got a nice fat role, playing the character Matt. He lives in LA now, but he was born and bred in good ol’ Whiteville! Congrats buddy! Jesse

You might have seen Jesse in three episodes of the CW show The Originals playing Cary, Klaus’ werewolf relative.

scottparksOh and speaking of which, our local boy, Scott Parks, who has already been on The Vampire Diaries, has a small part on The Originals tonight. Way to go Scott!  We love ya! Scott has also been on Homeland and Drop Dead Diva.  I LOVE how much talent we have in this town!

Billboard

Sleepy Hollow is at the sound stages today, but they head back to Water St. tomorrow, apparently dodging plummeting hail. Nice! Of course it is another Sleepy Monday and here’s what we can expect tonight…

Secrets & Lies starts off in Castle Hayne today, then I believe they head over to the Battleship. That should be fun!

Last week, we covered and attended two protests here in Wilmywood.

The first protest was for Governor Pat McCrory, as he was a keynote speaker during the Energy Summit.  The second protest was right outside WECT for the Hagan/Tillis debate.  We have a little more detailed conversation than the rest of the media (Because we can) . Charles Rourk was on the scene.  A lot of you got some good face time 🙂 Check it out below!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 6/28/2013

Big questions and many of them from Monday night’s premiere of Under the Dome.  Perhaps this is the one I have heard the most: “Why don’t they just dig their way out?!”  That question will be answered this Monday night.  The people of Chester’s Mill are shooting at the old cement factory in Castle Hayne.

So what is the cast talking about?

Nicholas StrongNicholas Strong @NicholasStrong – Thanks to our crew who keep us moving along & on schedule #Underthedome We love you and your effort is always appreciated!

MULLET ALERT:  Danny McBride and his Eastbound and Down crew are staying out of the rain, shooting on the lot again today.
scottparksOn to the local front of filmmaking.  The short film, “Disposable Generation” is looking for extras tonight through Sunday.  The cast includes some great local actors including Devin Mcgee, Scott Parks (Vampire Diaries), Tara Williams, Zach Pappas, and Ashleigh Lineberry.  They are in need of 25 extras aged 18-30 for the weekend for a house party scene.  This  exploratory short narrative “meanders through a handful of arrogant, hollow Gen-Y’ers as they navigate their inherited anxieties, their layered philosophies, and ultimately, their excuses to carry on as they are.”  If you are available, email rejaccard@me.com with the subject like : “TDG -extra”.  This is a nopay gig, but know that you are supporting local filmmakers!

UC_Poster_1_copy.largeAlso handsome local boys, Dominic Santana and Chaysen Beacham, are asking for your support with their project, The U.C.  They have 13 days to go on their kickstarter for this police drama. “With the fall of criminal organizations another rises in it’s place. To counteract this this recurring problem, the FBI sanctions a classified experiment to raise one headed by their own U.C. and controlling major crime. (Under Cover)”

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 04/25/2013 Fox TV brings more jobs, Revolution’s return and more

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD

LISTEN TO PODCAST

I really hope that all the representatives and other politicians across the state read my blog because I am kicking it off with something to remind them of what the film industry does for our area. The Fox Network’s Wild Blue is bring more action here in the area, but more importantly a HUGE budget.  My sources tell me it’s one of the most expensive TV pilot’s in history with a budget of $15 million.  A few weeks ago, we know they were scouting the Coty Inc. plant in Rocky Point.  I cannot confirm whether they will indeed use that location as other sources tell me they will be taking over an old out of business yacht building company. The best part, of course, with that big budget is JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!  They will be employing a lot of people.

I was told they plan to completely replicate the top deck on an aircraft carrier.  Then, they will digitally put in the ocean in post.  That is great news for construction workers, i.e carpenters, painters, electricians, and the many vendors they will need supplies from!  Pre-production could begin as early as this Monday.  Thank you Fox! Fox’s Wild Blue is about a group of men and women working aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.  It stars Mykelti Williamson (Bubba of Forrest Gump) as Master Chief Donald Bowman along with Josh SalatinWill RothhaarAlano Miller and Gina Rodriguez.

Now let’s move on to NBC.  We have waited patiently for official word on two things about our beloved show, Revolution. 1) Is there a season two? and 2) Will they return to Wilmington?  Wanna know what my reliable sources tell me?  How about yes and yes!  Let’s hope my peeps are right about this!   Official word is supposed to come out May 13th.  Plus, if you remember,  the cast LOVES Wilmington.  They all said they did not want to relocate. I don’t blame them.  With beach season approaching fast, who wants to be stuck in a major city with no sea breeze?

The Vampire Diaries airs on the CW tonight.  Don’t forget to be on the look out for our local boy, Scott Parks who plays the evil Silas!

And on a final note, who’s ready for Port City Pop Con?  Check out this spot for the convention by Joe Stauffer.

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow morning and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am live on Sunny 104.5.  Got scoop?  email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Until then, that’s a wrap!
