THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 10/15/2014 Sleepy Hollow deets, Crew and Cast for Paper Towns and more.

Now where is everyone today? They are taking cover! A rainy day has put Secrets & Lies as well as Sleepy Hollow at the sound stages. Sleepy might head back to Water St. to shoot the plummeting hail scene, weather permitting tonight.

Now for some more Sleepy Hollow deets.  Please welcome the new Executive Producer  to Wilmywood, Paul Edwards.   Also, Sleepy Hollow has a new line producer as well, so welcome Jane Bartelme. Jane has a long history in the feature film world and lemme tell ya, what a resume!  From Sleepless in Seattle to Legends of the Fall.

They are currently shooting episode 11 with Dwight Little in the director’s chair.  Russell Fine, who will be directing episode 12 is gearing up and scouting the area this week.  Welcome all to the Sleepy family!

The Choice is doing some interior shots on Princess St.  Sorry Tom Welling fans, no sightings today.  At least not on set.  Maybe you will spot him somewhere around town on his day off 🙂tscc3

Paper Towns is still crewing up in Charlotte, NC. Congrats to Leigh Shanta. She is back once again in NC as PM. She was here in Wilmywood for The Longest Ride. I know they are still looking for PAs in just about every department. As for other positions, I don’t have the full list yet of what is needed. Paper Towns is expected to begin production in November.

So, send your crew resume to papertownsproduction@gmail.com with your position in the subject line.

And in case you didn’t know, the fabulous, Tona Dahlquist is heading up extras casting 🙂

They have also added to the cast. Last month, we reported that Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne are starring in the film. Now, they have added Austin Abrams, Halston Sage and Justice Smith to the cast. Congrats!

Stephen Collins who most know from the television show 7th Heaven, and many here know him as Dr. Gene Porter from Revolution has been accused of sexually

SteveCollinsabusing three underage girls. According to CNN’s NewDay, in the divorce documents filed by his estranged second wife, Faye Grant, Collins admitted to her that he molested them more than a decade earlier. Two of the girls lived in New York, one in Los Angeles, according to the divorce papers. Police in New York are aware of child molestation allegations by a former relative against Collins, but due to the statute of limitations, he cannot face charges in that case. In New York, a person has five years from their 18th birthday to make an accusation of sexual abuse to authorities. That time has passed.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 09/25/2014 Banshee, Homeland, Under the Dome, South of Hell, Paper Towns

Howdy!  As you can tell, I have not been posting everyday.  Why?  Well, with the NC film incentives coming to an end in December, there are no new productions that are making announcements, no new offices setting up.  It is simply bone dry.  So, yes, NC Film obviously affects my little small business I call a blog.  I do have some tidbits to share however. So, let’s get right to it.

Sadly this week, Banshee (pictured above) and Homeland in Charlotte are tearing down their sets down and relocating them to other states due to the film incentives expiring at the end of the year. Banshee will relocate to Louisiana while Homeland won’t return to Charlotte next season. The location for Homeland is yet to be determined.

tscc3

Thank God, Producer Marty Bowen (who was just here for The Longest Ride) has returned to Charlotte to set up offices for one of the last films to come to North Carolina this year. It’s called Paper Towns and stars Nat Wolff.  Nan Morales has been named Line Producer. Production begins in November. There is not a an email set up yet, but you can send your crew resume via fax: 855.593.5484.  (Fax?  Who does that anymore?)

Battlecreek decided not to head to North Carolina. They will be filming in Mississippi after all.

Under the Dome extras casting director Vanessa Neimeyer will relocate to South Carolina for the project South of Hell for WEtv. Also headed that way are many of the crew members, office staff and a producer from Under the Dome as well. No word yet on where Under the Dome will be shooting for season 3. GET MORE DETAILS NOW

Sleepy Hollow is on hiatus this week and will return to a shoot schedule next week. Secrets and Lies stayed in their Porter’s Neck Location and the sound stages most of the week. But they did sneak out one day this week off Brandon Road.

Jason_ReturnedThe Returned returns to ABC!  Well, we know it as Resurrection which films in Georgia, but yes we do have that local connection!  It is based on the book written by our local author Jason Mott. Season Two premieres Monday night on ABC!

On the political front, William Osborne is running against President Pro Temp Senator Phil Berger for the NC Senate 26th District Seat.  Berger MUST GO!  So, feel free to spread the word to folks you know in Guilford and Rockingham Counties.

Please view the complete list of all the members of the House and the Senate. You will see statewide, who is for and who is against the current film incentives. We need to make sure the General Assembly FEELS the affects of the film industry, ESPECIALLY at the polls!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 08/27/2014 HBO scouts for fall before film incentives expire, Wilmington officials plea with Governor McCrory, UTD Ratings

Mornin’ Sunshine! Happy Humpday.  Not too much going on today, but we do have a few things noteworthy.

The Emmys kicked everyone in the tail. Under the Dome did decent enough, but showed lower numbers with a 1.4 A18-49, 6.59M viewers.

ABC’s Secrets & Lies is in Porter’s Neck today and Sleepy Hollow is at the sound stages today.

DIckCheneyHBO has been scouting North Carolina, among other states for their mini series Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency (adaptation  of the book by Washington Post investigative reporter Barton Gellman published in 2008).  Some sources say they have made their decision and are shooting in New York and North Carolina, however, other sources say they have not locked in NC as a location. At least not yet anyway. Wherever they shoot, they will need to make a decision soon as production is supposed to start in October. The Line Producer is Louise Rosner. David Frankel is directing. More on this project from The Hollywood Reporter. READ NOW

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 08/18/2014 Under the Dome Sneak Peek, Sleepy Hollow goes clubbin’, The Longest Ride wrap party details

Okay, for all of those who follow the blog from out of state and out of the country, this sneak peek shows a lot of fabulous footage of downtown Wilmington, NC aka Chester’s Mill aka Zenith!  Love this scene!  Mike Vogel and Max Ehrich have incredible chemistry!  I’m really digging Max’s acting chops.  He’s my instant favorite! Here’s what’s in store for us tonight!

Tonight’s synopsis: When Barbie enlists his father’s help to reach out to Julia, he realizes that Don may know more about the Dome than he is letting on. Meanwhile, Big Jim appoints himself sheriff of Chester’s Mill, on Under The Dome, Monday, August 18 at 10/9c. Brett Cullen guest stars.

Even though there are a few more additional days of filming, The Longest Ride had their wrap party this weekend in Elkin, NC at a place called 222 conveniently located a 222 East Main St.

800px-Elkin_NC_DowntownThe people were so friendly, the music was great, and the food was delicious,” said one crew member. Local party buses were hired and took the crew to and from the party from the hotels so they didn’t have to drive.

“The landscape beauty, coupled with the welcoming spirit from the local folks in Winston-Salem, Dobson and Elkin made for very pleasant filmmaking during the last couple of weeks of The Longest Ride,” another crew member said. “Many of us are looking forward to return to both locations with our families for a little vacation. I really want my kids to see these places.”

ICYMI: Our friends from WGSR in Greensboro headed over there to see how the folks in the town feel about The Longest Ride shooting there.  They get extra brownie points for using a drone for some of their gorgeous shots! A great piece! SEE VIDEO NOW.

The Longest Ride heads back to the farm again today in Dobson.

PravdaOkay, I am so excited about Sleepy Hollow filming at my FAVORITE club(s) downtown. They will be over at Pravda/Sputnik today and they got a packed club with over 120 hip background actors. Now I can’t tell you who is in this scene, however, can you imagine Ichabod Crane’s reaction to music and dancing in 2014? Baaahahahaaa.

ABC’s Secrets & Lies shoots in their hood again today in Porter’s Neck.

FilmPhotoREMINDER: Anyone who benefits from the NC Film Industry, please gather with us @ Battleship Park on Sat. August 23rd 2014@ 4:00pm.

We will be documenting the residents and families of Southeastern North Carolina with a massive group photograph of all those who will be affected by the loss of the Film Incentives.

You might know her from The Menalist, True Blood, or the most recent feature Get on Up.

FILM INCENTIVES UPDATE: The General Assembly is more interested in kicking the can down the road or completely ignoring sustaining jobs and job creation.

From what I am hearing, things don’t look so well for NC Film. It isn’t over until the final gavel hits, however, unless something drastic comes to light, I am being told that they will be adjourning sine die on Friday (sine die is an adjournment until the next session), with film not even on the list.  GET MORE DETAILS NOW

We will still be quite busy this year with Bolden!, Yellow Footprints and The Choice going into production next month, but come 2015, we won’t have enough money to sustain more than 3 decent projects statewide. As it stands right now, productions can’t even apply for the grant until 2015, so it’s gonna be very dry in the New Year.

With that being said, here’s a reminder:

WRAL covered the Wilmington film scene yesterday.  Here’s the story.  A little disappointed in the title as film is still alive and most of the media reports like it already died.  Frustrating! But all in all it was a good piece.  Thanks to Richard coming down to do it.  It was very much appreciated. I got interviewed as well as Matt from 9 and Film Commish Johnny. READ/WATCH NOW

Yesterday, the Senate did what we figured.  They reconvened just to adjourn.  Nothing was taken up.  Looks like the House will do the same this afternoon.  Film is still very much alive.  I will keep you posted if anything changes.

With Goolsby’s resignation, it’s interesting to see Michael Lee putting FILM first in his statement. Convenient, I’d say. Truthful? We shall see, won’t we?

In an article from WWAY, Lee says, “No matter what happens over the coming weeks, there will still be an election on November 4th, and I look forward to speaking with the voters of the 9th District about strengthening the film tax credit, improving education, investing in infrastructure and bringing jobs to New Hanover County,” he said. READ/VIEW STORY NOW

From what I am hearing, his is very pro-film incentive (hearing that from folks not articles).  Now, will he take Goolsby’s seat before the election?  The New Hanover GOP Executive Committee meets next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss who will replace Goolsby’s. County party chair Sam Ibrahim says Michael Lee will be one of the few names being considered.  Who else is in the mix?  Ibrahim said, “The executive committee will nominate from the floor.”  So, I guess we shall tune in Tuesday and find out.

I know many of you keep shouting Elizabeth, however, don’t forget she is a Democrat, so if she is your gal, you’re gonna have to wait until the polls are open later this year.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 07/30/2014 – Where the Devil Hides release date, UTD Ratings, Locations and more.

Finally some news on The Devil’s Hand. Well, we know it as The Devil’s Rapture and also as Where the Devil Hides. The Wilmywood shot flick which came here in 2012 will not see a theatrical release, how ever it will be on a small screen near you. Expect to see this horror flick on VOD, EST, DVD and other TV platforms on October 10th. The movie stars Rufus Sewell, Alycia Debnam Carey, Adelaide Kane, Leah Pipes, Thomas McDonell and “Dexter” fav Jennifer Carpenter.

The flick is about something evil that runs amuck in the small village of New Bethlehem where six girls who were born on the same day by six different mothers begin to mysteriously disappear on the eve of their 18th birthday. Is it a serial killer, one of the village elders or a horrific prophecy come true?

SH_NHHSSleepy Hollow is shooting over at National Linen as well as around the 6th St. Bridge and the soundstages.

The Longest Ride is still in Jacksonville shooting their bull riding scenes

RATINGS: Monday night’s episode did not do much for the ratings for Under the Dome.  They matched last week’s series low 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 6.6 M viewers.

squeezelogoICYMI: Writer/Producer/Director Terry Jastrow has just announced the completion of the Wilmywood shot feature film, The Squeeze. The golf caper which filmed here last fall stars Christopher McDonald, Jeremy Sumpter, Jillian Murray and Michael Nouri, along with some of our local actors including Michael Rosander, David Andrews, and Logan Siu to name a few.  Jastrow recently had its first industry private screening at United Talent Agency in Hollywood to an enthusiastic audience that included film distributors, cast and crew, Terry’s wife and co-producer, actress Anne Archer, and golfer Phil Mickelson.  Look for The Squeeze in theaters this Spring.
