Body found in Hampstead was not Shannon Rippy.

ShannonIn an astounding turn of events, after initial tests, police say that the body found in Hampstead on Tuesday was not Shannon Rippy Van Newkirk’s that was found, but another woman.  Officials say that there still needs to be more testing.  However, they are not going to revert  to treating Shannon’s disappearance as a missing persons case, as James Bradley is still being charged with Shannon’s murder as well as being a suspect in this second case.  Or is it the other way around?  Now the questions begin multiplying as police investigate who this woman was, who we originally thought to be Shannon Rippy.

James Bradley was in jail once before for the 1988 murder of his 8 year old step daughter.  He was released from prison in 2013.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 04/30/2014 – RIP Shannon Rippy, Locations, Loomis Fargo, Lee Norris, NC Film Rally and more.

ShannonGood morning my loves. The morning began with sadness and our hearts are aching for those who knew and loved Shannon Rippy. Her body was discovered in Hampstead yesterday.  James Opelton Bradley, who has been convicted of murder in another county in 1990, is being held in the New Hanover County jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Bradley will make a court appearance 2 p.m. today. READ MORE NOW

Schedules might be changing due to the weather today, but here is where you might spot some action:

  • How and Why should be shooting at the 6th St bridge and driving around Roland Grise Middle School
  • The Sin Seer – Front St and 2nd St
  • Under the Dome is staying dry on the sound stages
  • Max Steel – Somewhere mysterious in the downtown area.

Yesterday, the news came out about our Christmas in Conway star, Andy Garcia, making his way back to Wilmywood for Max Steel!  A HUGE thank you to the production team.  Check out their slate!

Here’s a fun little tidbit.  For two days we will be having 5 productions running at one time, but it could possibly be 7 units shooting at once.  That is crazy and I love every minute of it!

FIN_Night

Now, I have been waiting, keeping my ears open about this one, but I have officially heard the same rumor three times now.  Word has it, Loomis Fargo might be heading west of the state to Asheville and only utilizing Wilmington for a few shots.  Now, this might be devastating to some, HOWEVER, if this does happen, it could be a really good thing.  Wilmington cannot have all the projects.  The more we spread the shows out, the more other counties see how good film is for their area.  Still waiting for more details, but that is all I know for now.  You know the film biz is a crazy biz, things change everyday.  I will keep you posted.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 04/18/2014 Mike Vogel Goes Hallmark, Max Steel, The Longest Ride, Shannon Rippy and more.

Hippety-Hoppety damn good mornin’ to ya! Under the Dome is off today as it is Good Friday, and a good Friday it is indeed.  However that doesn’t stop us from seeing stars, one in particular.

InMyDreamsFilmPosterOur homie Domie Mike Vogel comes out of the Dome for the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, In My Dreams this Sunday night on ABC at 9pm EST. (I know the video claims it’s on tonight, but it is on this Sunday) Nick (Mike Vogel) and Natalie (Katharine McPhee) are the perfect couple, only they have never actually met. After tossing coins in Haywood Fountain, the two start dreaming about each other. According to fountain mythology, they have exactly seven days to turn their dreams into a reality. Now doesn’t that sound as sweet as all get out! Don’t miss it!

MAXSTEEL_CASTMax Steel‘s Ben Winchell who plays the lead Max McGrath makes his way into town this weekend and his counterpart Ana Villafane will make it into town early next week!  Yay! Producer Julia Pistor as well as writer Christopher Yost was here as well, they are headed out, but will be coming back shortly as things will start getting super fun soon enough!

Looks like Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride has pushed their start date to mid June. I will keep you posted on any other details that come out.

It has been 13 days since anyone has seen our film friend 53-year-old Shannon Rippy Vannewkirk.  Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department now believe there may be foul play surrounding Shannon’s disappearance. Apparently new information has come out that are turning the police’s minds towards the negative. They cannot say what that information is, but they are confident that foul play is at hand. At the vigil held last night on the steps of the federal building, the negative news that foul play is in the mix, it hit home for many. Thankfully in addition to the police on the case is the Cue Center for Missing Persons. There is no search team in the country better than the Cue Center. “Someone out there knows something and that’s why we have to spread the word. Someone may have seen something, someone may have heard something,” said Seidman to WECT.

WWAY,  however, has the latest on the vigil from last night. READ NOW

He was once known simply as the “wild eyed guy” on MADtv and the 7-Up “Up Yours” guy but these days, Orlando Jones is a household name. A name I’m sure many people will be tagging Twitter posts today to say “Happy Birthday” to Sleepy Hollow‘s own “Captain Frank Irving.”  Did you know that not only has Orlando been in over 30 films in his career, that he is also credited s_rg_fsborlando0910_with some video game voiceover action as well? He is a father, a husband and a producer, writer and director. Don’t wait until Sleepy Hollow returns to Wilmywood in May,  follow Orlando on Twitter  and tell him today! Happy birthday from the Sleepyhead HQ!!  P.S. FREE FRANK!

dean-norris-64th-annual-primetime-emmy-awards-02Big shout out to Wilmywood domie, Dean Norris who turns 51 today! We all know Mr. Norris as “Big Jim” the power loving local crazy man of Chester’s Mill and if you follow him on Twitter, you can see that he’s quite the larger than life man outside of the dome too!

This SAG award winner and Harvard grad with the charismatic smile has been in over 30 films and too many TV shows to count! (I don’t have enough fingers and toes!) Wilmywood has gotten to know Mr. Norris over the course of the UTD series and couldn’t be happier to know that he’s here to celebrate his birthday with us. I’m SURE the Twitter feed on this birthday celebration will be something we won’t want to miss.  “Hey, Dean!  F*** You, Buddy!  Happy Birthday!”

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 04/09/2014 Search continues for Shannon Rippy, another Sparks flick, Lifetime, How and Why, HGTV, Dinner with the Stars

Happy Hump Day my Wilmywood peeps!  Oh boy, as if last week wasn’t enough info to keep us 5 crews deep for the year, we got more intel coming in about new projects and some fun tidbits of those that are here.

RumorslogoFirst off, Under the Dome is shooting in Burgaw today. Have a great shoot my film peeps!

Now, let’s get right to it, my favorite thing to write about.  It’s time for Rumors from the Lot!!

choiceNow, having one Nicholas Sparks flick in Wilmywood is pretty awesome, but what if there were two?  Well, there might just be.  According to my sources, Nicholas Sparks is looking for a triple play, but not in book order.  The Best of Me (2010 Novel, shooting in New Orleans now), The Longest Ride (2013 Novel, pre-production in Wilmington now) and now the latest rumors from the lot say he is jumping back a good 7 years to bring The Choice (2007 Novel, currently in development) to the big screen.  And word has it, Wilmywood is high on their list when it comes to a production home.

Sparks however isn’t the only one sniffing around.  My sources are telling me that Lifetime has been giving Wilmywood a wink and a nod as a possible hub for one of their projects.  Which one?  Well, I can speculate, however, I’d rather not jump the gun on that quite yet.

Charlie-KaufmanAs we gear for the highly anticipated pilot, How and Why from FX, get ready for quite a cast.  So far we know John Hawkes, Michael Cera, Julia Sarah Stone, Sally Hawkins, and Catherine Keener have signed on.  But we can expect to hear more casting news. From what I hear, it’s going to be quite a large cast.  Oh and FYI, we will be welcoming into town the one and only Charlie Kauffman next week!

Bolden! is set to open offices in Rocky Point on April 21st.  I am hearing Atlanta as well as Wilmywood again.  Though I don’t yet know which city they will be filming first.  As far as who will replace Anthony Mackie is yet to be made public.

The Search for Shannon Rippy: Film Industry Friend Goes Missing

shannonRippy

Fellow film industry friend Shannon Rippy has gone missing. For those who don’t her she has been a production manager as well as a UPM for Wilmywood flicks such as Virus, Night Flier and others.  She is very missed and very loved.

Michele Seidman gives us the story. “Shannon and her Mom spoke Saturday (April 5th)  night around 7pm. Shannon told her Mom she was turning in soon. Sunday, the family went over to celebrate her birthday and she was not there at her home at the 100 block of S 5th. They left the gifts on the porch. I am guessing they figured she would be back soon. But she did not contact them again and Monday morning they went back to her house and the gifts were still on the porch. They contacted the police who helped them enter the house. They did not find Shannon. That is what we know. If anyone has any further information, contact the police at 910-343-3600. If anyone saw her, texted with her or had any other communications with her after 7pm Saturday night April 5th, please call 910-343-3600 and let the police know. A group is meeting at 9am on the 8th of April in front of Shannon’s house to canvas the area and to hand out flyers, knock on doors and do whatever we can to gather more information to find Shannon. For any information regarding reaching her family, please go through Joyce Fernando.”

Folks are gathering today beginning at 9am for a flyer hand out and search. If you can help, please go HERE NOW
