WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 09/27/2013 Eastbound, Cucalorus, The Remaining and more.

timguineeTim Guinee (Charlie’s father from Season One of NBC’s Revolution) is back in North Carolina, but this time is is for our other NC hit show, Homeland. While he was in Charlotte, he had to sound off and be his usual grateful self complimenting the writers, the cast and the NC Film crew.  I had a quick exchange with Tim this morning and he said:

“Being a graduate of UNCSA in Winston-Salem, it’s always great to come back to work in North Carolina. So glad there’s so much work here.”  He went on in support of our NC Film Incentives, “I hope the state is smart enough to keep the tax incentives which are above all such a great thing for the NC economy. It would be sad to see all those jobs pack up and move to another state as it so often happens.”

Tim, we love your support and we definitely glad you are back in NC for a few days!  Love to you my friend!

Our Under the Dome creator Stephen King join the ladies on The View today 11am EST He’s there of course to talk about his new book, but I am sure they touch upon the success of our show.

And we can congrate Linda aka Natalie Martinez for landing the lead in the upcoming thriller, Home Invasion. Find out more about it NOW

nickGI have to say I love when our stars give shout-outs to the local restaurants.  This time it was Nick Gonzalez aka Detective Luke Morales on Sleepy Hollow who gave some kudos to Roko and Manna, which are of course two of the many favorite restaurants of the stars that pass through Wilmywood.  Thanks Nick! We appreciate you talkin’ local!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you Monday morning (unless something breaks) and every weekday morning at 7:30am & 8:30am LIVE on Sunny 104.5.  Got Scoop?  Email me: sheila@1045sunnyfm.com.  Or message me on Wilmywood’s FB .  Or just post your comments below!  Until then, that’s a wrap!!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD – 09/20/2013 Sleepy Hollow, Adrenaline, MTJM and Rumors from the Lot!

If you or your friends missed it, the series premiere of Sleepy Hollow will air again tonight on Fox at 9pm EST.  Starring Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie and Orlando Jones, watch as Ichabod Crane finds himself 250 years in the future.  Episode 2 airs Monday at 9pm EST.  Here’s a sneak peek:

Our Under the Dome creator has got a birthday tomorrow so send your shout outs to Stephen King.  He turns 66 this weekend.

radiothonA HUGE thank you to Wilmywood as the Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids at NHRMC Radiothon was a success!  Thanks to you we raised more than $43,000 to help outfit the kids indoor and outdoor area of the soon to be built SECU Family House.  Our Ebay Auction items from some of our Wilmington productions brought in $3800.00!  Yay!  You guys rock!

The offices are set up and the crew of The Remaining will move in Monday.  They are set to do re-shoots beginning Wednesday and will continue through the end of the week.

AdrenalineThe gang from the movie Adrenaline starring John Schneider and local boy Michael Rosander did not reach their Kickstarter goal,  so they are relaunching using  Indiegogo. Support their new campaign as the movie is already 65% complete.   Thanks again for all your help supporting our local filmmakers.

johntommyREMINDER SHOOTING TONIGHT: Tommy Danger’s film crew is back in town and he is looking for as many volunteers as possible to come to Wrightsville Beach by the Johnny Mercer Pier to be a part of the new video they are working on for the More Than Just Me Foundation.  It will be from 5:30p-7:30p tonight.

RumorslogoNow onto RUMORS FROM THE LOT. We know at some point Journey 3, starring Dwayne Johnson, is expected to come here sometime in 2014, whenever Dwayne and his co-star Josh Hutcherson can get their schedules aligned.  So, maybe perhaps while they figure that out, we could be just have our piece of The Rock here in Wilmywood for the next installment of GI Joe.   Apparently, the admirably goofy G.I. Joe: Journey-2-Josh-Dwayne_320Retaliation made enough money that Paramount and Hasbro are joining forces one more time.  As of now, “a silly subtitle has yet to be decided on.” Word on the Lot is some department heads were contacted to check on the availability of crew. I will keep you posted to see if indeed we can add some credence to these rumors.  To have the Rock twice would sure be nice!

How Successful is CBS’s Under The Dome?

Wilmington, NC is one proud city fore many reasons, from our beaches to our lifestyle.  We are also so proud of our film industry.  We’ve had some extremely successful films and television shows such as Iron Man 3, The Conjuring, Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, Revolution and of course one of our favorites: Under the Dome.

This show stands out because they created a model that will pave the way for future television shows with their savvy business model.  The show has not only spread out in over 200 territories, but partnered with Amazon Prime to further its success.

Let’s take a look at CBS’s successes since airing (Taken from: SpoilerTV)

– Episode one of UNDER THE DOME was the most-watched TV premiere in history of Amazon’s Prime Instant Video and the series overall has been the most-watched series this summer on the service.  They have since renewed the contract for Season Two which will air Summer 2014.

– Internationally, UNDER THE DOME, which will be licensed in more than 200 territories by CBS Studios International, is off to strong starts in countries where it has already premiered.

– In Australia, UNDER THE DOME is the highest-rated U.S. drama this year on Network Ten across key demos, total persons and persons 25-54.

– In Canada, UNDER THE DOME on Global, has been the #1 series on Canadian television since its debut.

– In Spain, UNDER THE DOME had the best international series premiere in Antena3 channel history and the best international series debut on Spanish free TV in three years.

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/30/2013 UTD Season 2, Eastbound, Sleepy Hollow and more!

Of course on Dome Day, Under the Dome “official” notice of a season 2 came out via CBS: “UNDER THE DOME” RENEWED FOR SUMMER 2014 – Television’s #1 Summer Series to Return with 13 New Episodes.”

And yes what we’ve been buzzing about for months now, Stephen King will finally get what he’s been wanting: to write the Premiere Episode for Season 2.

“We’re excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester’s Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season,” said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler.

And you can bet he will be here for that entire episode.  Earlier it was reported the UTD crew would be getting everything back in order here in October. But another source said they would run the same schedule as season one, coming back in February 2014.  Well, a girl can dream, right?  I mean, can you imagine having Stephen King here for Halloween?!

Another great episode last night.  Man, every week, the show gets better and better!  I have to remind myself to breathe when they break for commercials!  We will see what the critics had to say about it later today, and of course we are waiting for those Nielsen ratings.  I will get them to you this afternoon!  The UTD folks filmed into the overnight just beyond the back lot, some LIVE tweeting from the set!  Looks like they will get a late start for the second to last day filming, the folks return to the Ideal cement Factory, possibly on stage again, too.

Danny McBrideDanny McBride and his Eastbound and Down posse head downtown today shooting at the fantastic Manna restaurant downtown as well as the Wilmington Convention Center.  They have over 100 extras on hand today…I smell fun!  Oh, and a quick trip tot he rumor mill.  Regardless of this being the “last season,”  a source told me talk was heard about HBO really liking what they have seen so far, and it might not be a final season after all.  But that is definitely just rumor!  Danny and Jody Hill are busy enough with another HBO show plus, Loomis Fargo, but you never know!

sleepyhollowDon’t forget to VOTE for Wilmington to get an early screening of FOX’s Sleepy Hollow!  The folks are back in New Bern shooting episode 2.

Check out Wilm on Film’s blog about Sleepy Hollow shooting in Havlock yesterday at the Sherwood Motel.  Great story Drew!

WHAT’S UP IN WILMYWOOD 07/08/2013 – It’s Dome Day once again!

It’s Dome Day once again, so either watch Under the Dome at 10pm tonight or set your DVRs!  And you know where to go for the viewing party.  Hell’s Kitchen is the place to be.  Some of the stars show up for the weekly event, you never know who is going to be there.  If you are a fan of John Elvis who plays the character Ben, he’s a regular, so stop on by and say hello!  Tonight is his big scene showing off his mad skating skills.  What were the stars up to this weekend? Rachelle LeFevre spent some time in Charleston over the weekend at the Market Pavilion Hotel and was especially entranced with their down home,  southern food.   Looks like Mackenzie Lintz went back to her homestate of MidnightRamblersGeorgia to hang with some of her besties.  Jolene Purdy, Nicholas Strong  and Alex Koch aka the Midnight Ramblers as they call themselves, rambled all over Wilmington.  Nicholas said they were at the beach, the pool, they barbequed, even had a dinner party set to Sinatra.  Here’s a pic they tweeted over the weekend.

Only a few days left to win a map of Chester’s Mill & a signed copy of #UnderTheDome by Stephen King! Enter now!

Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover fame, was hanging with some local friends at Topsail Beach over the weekend.  Did you see him?  I wonder if he is as ADD in real life as he is on the show.  No matter, he is sooo adorable!

Eastbound and Down is  shooting on Tabor Lane just off N Kerr Ave today.  There’s a casting call for Wednesday’s shoot from NCasting: EASTBOUND & DOWN: “This will work Wednesday.  I need 5 Mexican males ages 18 and up. Wanna know where some of the scenes were shot in Under the Dome? I got an email from Owen in Connecticut:

I watched the Under the Dome premiere, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and I have a strange question I’m hoping you can answer.  In the episode, Barbie (Mike Vogel), in an effort to avoid cows in the middle of the street, crashes through a fence and onto a farm where Angie (Britt Robertson) and Joe (Colin Ford) live. Shortly after Barbie crashes his car, the titular dome comes crashing down on Chester’s Mill … splitting an unlucky cow in the process! I know the majority of the pilot episode was filmed in Southport, Burgaw and Wilmington, but I’m guessing this farm is not in any of those three places. I’m not a local, however (I live in Connecticut), so I was wondering if you might happen to know where this series-setting scene was filmed. Any help would be terrific.

Thanks for writing Owen, and here’s your answer along with some other locations.

Under the Dome is shot in three different counties: New Hanover (Wilmington), Brunswick (Southport) and Pender (Burgaw and Currie).

– The scene where Mike Vogel (Barbie) crashed in the pilot and where the dome came down on him and Colin Ford (Joe) was shot in Currie, NC

– Big Jim’s Car Lot took over Southport Motorcars on North Howe Street in Southport.

– Chester’s Mill Clinic is actually The Ocean Trail Convalescent Center also in Southport.

– Big Jim’s house is actually in two different counties.  His back porch is in Southport on E. Bay St, but the inside of his house is near downtown Wilmington on Chestnut St.

– The location used for the kids partying after the dome comes down with John Elvis (Ben) and Colin Ford (Joe) is called the 6th St Bridge (aka Harry Forden Truss Bridge) which is just past Downtown Wilmington.

– The location used for the gas station where Mackenzie Lintz(Norrie), Aisha Hinds(Carolyn) and Samantha Mathis(Alice) stops before the dome comes down is in downtown Burgaw at a defunct gas station at the corner of E. Wilmington/N. Wright St.UTDset062013_0454

– The exterior radio station is in Southport, but the interior is on Sound Stage 7 at EUE/Screen Gems studios in Wilmington.

– Other interiors at EUE/Screen Gems includes the bunker where Alexander Koch (Junior) holds Britt Robertson (Angie) captive.  This is also on Stage 7.

– On Stage 8, you will find the Sweetbriar Rose, the cafe run by Beth Broderick (Rose).UTDSet062013_0306

Anymore location questions? Post ’em below!

The dome has descended upon Chester’s Mill and there is no way in or no way out! Get a sneak peek of what’s in store for the town and its residents as they become sealed off from the rest of the world in this summer’s critically acclaimed series based on the bestselling book by Stephen King, from Amblin Television. Stars Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Mike Vogel (Bates Motel) and Rachelle Lefevre (Twilight) will be joined by executive producers Brian K. Vaughan (Lost) and Neal Baer (Law & Order: SVU).  Norris, Vogel and Lefevre will participate in an exclusive autograph signing following the panel at the CBS Interactive Booth at 3:30 PM – 4:15 PM on the convention floor.

I’ll catch you tomorrow night Under the Dome on CBS-10WILM at 10pm! Don’t miss tomorrow’s blog, some more movies coming into town, plus…well I will wait until tomorrow.  Don’t want anyone stealing my stories!  Happens all the time!
