Studios sent out this Sleepy Hollow comic cover and it’s gone totally viral in the Twittersphere!  Talk about a tease coming out of nowhere! BOOM! has already produced comic adaptations for Planet of the Apes, Die Hard and 28 Days Later via licensing agreement with 20th Century Fox, so why not, right? I’d buy it!

In case you didn’t believe me months ago, Nicholas Sparks was here, but not for his movie he is currently shooting, The Longest Ride. Nope, it’s the one they are shooting in September, The Choice. He went scouting with his producing buddies. Sure hope he stopped by The Longest Ride set at least to say, “Yo, what’s up? Thanks for making my book into a movie again Wilmington!”

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 03/12/2014 Joyce Gilliard, Jack Bender, UTD, SNL, Red Zone, How & Why

cropped-utdset062013_0012.jpgHUMP DAAAYYY!  Let’s do this! Under the Dome returns to EUE/Screen Gems wrapping up the premiere episode.  I think they are on more sound stages this season.  That means more cool locations we will never see until the show. Argh! Later this week they will head to some of their favorite spots in Currie and Burgaw.

EP Jack Bender

Jack Bender directed the first episode for season two.  Not only is he a talented director, but a talented artist as well.   The Wilma W. Daniels Gallery (200 Hanover St.) will be showcasing his work beginning this Saturday.  The artwork will be on display from the 15th through the 29th of this month.  Three of his pieces will be from Season One  of Under the Dome.  Think Pink Stars!  We will also get a sneak peek at some of the beautiful pieces for the upcoming season. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday 12pm-5pm.  However, a special night is reserved for you to mingle with the artist that is Jack Bender on Saturday, March 22nd from 6pm-9pm.

Our beautiful hair stylist Joyce Gilliard, who got injured on the set of Midnight Rider in Jesup, GA and airlifted to the hospital, is getting her stitches out this morning.  She thanks everyone for her support.  She said she misses her Sleepy Hollow family and she looks forward to working again one day, but right now her main focus is healing.  Completely.  Love to you beautiful lady!  She took to tweeting this morning with an update.

ABC’s Secrets and Lies headed downtown super early this morning to CFCC’s Union station.  It’s gonna be a big scene, lots of extras.

michael-cera-john-hawkesYesterday, we reported FX is FINALLY doing some scouting around Wilmington this week.  Charlie Kaufmann’s How and Why stars Michael Cera and John Hawkes.  Production offices open in about two weeks.

Paul Hannah

Paul Hannah

The Sin Seer‘s producer and director flew in from LA this week as auditions are currently underway.  They are all about hiring as many locals as they can.  This includes actors and crew.  So congrats to you if you have an audition lined up with Overflow Entertainment‘s Paul Hannah and Angela White!

melissaMelissa McCarthy is on one hell of a subliminal marketing campaign connecting the views of Mike & Molly with her upcoming feature film Tammy, shot of course right here in Wilmywood.  If you remember she had Susan Sarandon on a couple of episodes on her CBS sitcom.  Next up?  Kathy Bates.  How many other cast members will guest star as we lead up to the Tammy release on July 2nd?

And speaking of Tammy, a little FYI, Allison Janney will be on Queen Latifah today!

Some UNCW students are shooting a short documentary on the film incentives.  They have been interviewing people like Aaron Syrett from the NC FIlm Office, Wilmington Film Commission’s Johnny Griffin and Screen Gems’ Bill Vassar.

Shaun_KeepItRollingAs stated on their Facebook page, “Keep It Rolling” is a short documentary film about the North Carolina Film Tax Incentive and it’s significance to a healthy economy in North Carolina. Directing is Robert Conley. Sarah Flores is producing.  They are concerned about their future as well as everyone else’s. JulietteLewisNow more exciting news about our new ABC show Secrets & Lies! It’s the return of Juliette Lewis.  Yep, we get our girl back!  Remember when she was here for Hick in 2011? Crew members certainly do.

“Juliette Lewis was the best one on that show.  She was really cool.  She was great to everybody, very down to Earth,” said one NC crew member.

She has been cast as Detective Andrea Cornell, who is watching  Ben Garner (Ryan Phillippe) like a hawk, after he discovers the body of a 4 year old boy while out on a morning run.  Her character has been describes as being “incredibly professional, hard to read who can come across as intentionally odd with a disconcerting calm who is often if not always the smartest person in the room.(Source:THR).

TAMMY Trailer Out – WATCH IT NOW!

Well, I guess this all worked out.  Post 1200/Giant Culture has lost power with the storm.  We had to move the event to Saturday.  And just as we made that decision, this popped up!  So yay!  I guess we can all see it now.   Plus, this Saturday we will be showing the EXTENDED trailer, a different one than the one on Youtube, so still think it will be fun!

Post1200/Giant Culture will be playing the extended trailer in their screening room beginning Saturday at 6pm every half hour and on Sunday from 11am -2pm.

Tammy was shot here in Wilmywood last summer and stars Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, Gary Cole, Dan Aykroyd, Allison Janneyand the rest of the crew.

ABOUT TAMMY: Tammy, who was recently fired from a Toppy Jacks fast food restaurant, returns home only to find her husband enjoying a romantic meal with the neighbor. She quickly packs her necessities, and travels down three houses to her parent’s home. Upon denied use of her mom’s car to drive to Niagara Falls, she quickly resorts to an “ailing” grandmother, who also lives in the home…Only instead of traveling alone, Grandma Pearl wants in on the road trip. After realizing Grandma Pearl has the funds, they hit the road. Pearl soon proves to be quite the alcoholic despite her diabetes, and Tammy quickly turns into the “baby-sitter.” From finding love in a bar to robbing a Toppy Jack’s in order to bail Pearl out of jail, the quirky adventure will have you finding yourself riding along for the misadventures of Tammy.  Source: IMDb

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 01/08/2014 TV Guide Cover, Bad Grandpa Deleted Scenes, Hank and Jed, PCAs and Much More!

TV GUIDE

Howdy! Another freezing morning, but we got lots to chat about that will make us all warm and fuzzy, much like my brain before coffee.  Let’s start off with our adorable dynamic duo Ichabod and Abbie of Sleepy Hollow!  Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison look fabulous on the cover of TV Guide, don’t you think?  And let me just add how much I LOVE the opening to this TV Guide article by Aubry D’Arminio.

“The end is nigh for Sleepy Hollow‘s first season. And it looks extremely…busy. It’s a stinging-cold December morning at Wilmington, North Carolina’s EUE/Screen Gems Studios. In the nearby woods, a stuntwoman wearing a low-cut, corseted frock is being pulled through the air on a thick cord and dropped nose-first onto a safety mat. “Can she be yanked even harder?” director Ken Olin (thirtysomething) asks the crew member at the other end of the rope. Yes, she certainly can.”

Wilmington.  North Carolina.  EUE/Screen Gems.  Crew – So many of my favorite buzz words in the opening paragraph!

READ TV GUIDE’S “Inside Sleepy Hollow’s Shocking Season Finale”

“Sleepy Hollow collects the most tweets per minute of any current Fox show and is the second most popular new series on social media after The Originals, with nearly 1 million fans across Facebook and Twitter alone.”

under-the-dome-cbsNew characters are coming to Chester’s Mill.  from TVLine.com reports not one, not two, but three.   He says Season 2 will introduce three new characters, including:

Sam: a gruff kinda guy who lives in the woods.  The locals call him a “crazy drunk” which to me translates he will have answers to some dilemmas this season.  He is a relative or was once someone close to one of the characters we know well, but they aren’t saying who.

Rebecca: a 30 something teacher.  Big Jim wants her to get a Dome school going, but of course his motivation isn’t higher education.

A “new girl” in town: A very vague and ageless description, but we know that she is “in to” Joe and Norrie, so we can assume she’s a teen.

MTV is so kind.  Now that the North Carolina shot Bad Grandpa is officially available for digital download, they gave us a bonus!  Here’s an exclusive look at one of the film’s many deleted scenes.  A gem, MTV says,  that’s as good as the pranks that made the final cut.  “Bad Grandpa” will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on January 28.

Happy Monday!  Guess what day it is!  GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS!  Sleepy Hollow Day!!!  Woo Hoo!  On tonight’s episode, (Episode 9 “Sanctuary”) Ichabod and Abbie investigate a missing persons case and the search leads to a colonial-era house which holds secrets from Ichabod’s past…and unleashes a long-dormant evil!

Amandla+StenbergOkay that’s all good, but let’s get to the best part!  The big debut episode for Jill Marie Jones and Amandla Stenberg!  We’ve been talkin’ about them for weeks, so glad to finally see them on the small screen!  Amandla joined me on The Sunny Morning show this morning!  And let me just say she is so stinkin’ cute I wanna squeeze her til she pops!!  Hear the cuteness for yourself!  I’ve got the whole interview –  LISTEN NOW!

Tonight competing for viewers with Sleepy Hollow is CBS’ Mike & Molly which will feature three actresses that spent some time this past summer in Wilmington. Melissa McCarthy (of course), Susan Sarandon (Tammy) and Katy Mixon (Eastbound and Down).  So we will have a bit of a Wilmywood Film reunion!  Nyambi Nyambi, who is the sweetest guy and was here visiting during Tammy, tweeted.  I will try to get up with him today for more details about tonight’s episode.

Over the weekend, my friend Shaun and I took the liberty of answering a lot of questions that people have about the NC Film Incentives and film questions in general.

QUESTION: What’s the difference between North Carolina’s Film Incentives and Georgia’s?  ANSWER.

QUESTION:  Everyone is talking about a sunset when it comes to the film incentives.  What exactly is a “sunset?” ANSWER.

QUESTION: So why does North Carolina need film incentives anyway? ANSWER.

QUESTION:  What film incentives do the other states offer?  ANSWER.

QUESTION: Do the tax payers pay for police officers and fireman when used on a movie set?  ANSWER.
