WRAL covered the Wilmington film scene yesterday.  Here’s the story.  A little disappointed in the title as film is still alive and most of the media reports like it already died.  Frustrating! But all in all it was a good piece.  Thanks to Richard coming down to do it.  It was very much appreciated. I got interviewed as well as Matt from 9 and Film Commish Johnny. READ/WATCH NOW

Yesterday, the Senate did what we figured.  They reconvened just to adjourn.  Nothing was taken up.  Looks like the House will do the same this afternoon.  Film is still very much alive.  I will keep you posted if anything changes.

With Goolsby’s resignation, it’s interesting to see Michael Lee putting FILM first in his statement. Convenient, I’d say. Truthful? We shall see, won’t we?

In an article from WWAY, Lee says, “No matter what happens over the coming weeks, there will still be an election on November 4th, and I look forward to speaking with the voters of the 9th District about strengthening the film tax credit, improving education, investing in infrastructure and bringing jobs to New Hanover County,” he said. READ/VIEW STORY NOW

From what I am hearing, his is very pro-film incentive (hearing that from folks not articles).  Now, will he take Goolsby’s seat before the election?  The New Hanover GOP Executive Committee meets next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss who will replace Goolsby’s. County party chair Sam Ibrahim says Michael Lee will be one of the few names being considered.  Who else is in the mix?  Ibrahim said, “The executive committee will nominate from the floor.”  So, I guess we shall tune in Tuesday and find out.

I know many of you keep shouting Elizabeth, however, don’t forget she is a Democrat, so if she is your gal, you’re gonna have to wait until the polls are open later this year.

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 06/19/2014 – Crew Member Eugene Salerno, Big Smo’s in town, Remaining Trailer, Wilmywood shows nominated

Please Support Wilmington Film Crew Member Eugene’s Cancer Battle!   eUGENE

What we thought to be indigestion turned out to be Pancreatic Cancer.

After a series of tests for his abdominal pain, a CT scan revealed  a tumor in his pancreas.  Shock and disbelief floods your brain.  In January 2014, Eugene was diagnosed pancreatic cancer.  After a biopsy confirmed that it had spread to his liver, our hearts dropped again.  He is now diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.  As he struggles with extreme pain, with little relief, he is currently undergoing chemotherapy.  The side effects of chemotherapy coupled with pain makes daily life challenging. Eugene is a 53 year old kindhearted soul, a wonderful husband and father to two young children.  We wish for our children to have as much joy and normalcy as possible while we battle this horrible disease.  Medical bills, daily care and living expenses add to our emotional stress.   Please help support our family so we can give Eugene the best care and time well spent.  Thank you for your kindness and generosity. DONATE NOW!

The Remaining trailer is out and it’s got Wilmywood all over it! The Affirm Films action/thriller stars Alexa Vega, Shaun Sipos, Johnny Pacar, Italia Ricci, Bryan Dechart, and Liz E. Morgan. Directed by Casey La Scala who we remember him…well… A Walk to Remember.  In theaters this fall! THE REMAINING is an action-packed supernatural thriller that addresses questions of life, love and belief against an apocalyptic backdrop. A group of close friends gather for a wedding, but the celebration is shattered by a series of cataclysmic events and enemies foretold by biblical end-times prophecies. The survivors face a horrifying, uncertain future as they scramble for safety, but as their world collapses around them in chaos and terror will they choose real life through faith, or just try to survive?   NC_outline As stated in today’s early morning blog, Raleigh needs to hear from EVERYONE.  There are still thousands of NC residents that love film being in our state that have not voiced their opinion by picking up a phone or sending an email.  Well, today is the day.  Crew, Background actors, small businesses, actors, community leaders!  We need you. All of you. And just because you don’t work in the film industry, does NOT mean you shouldn’t call.  In fact, we NEED your voice in the mix, too.  They need to see that it is all of us who support the industry, not just the workers or vendors.
