THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 01/12/2015 NC SFX MUA on Syfy’s Face Off tomorrow, more projects for SC.

North Carolina’s own Special Effects makeup artist Gregory Hewett will be on Syfy’s Face Off tomorrow night during a two part 8th season premiere @ 9 p.m. Greg is a Supply native who now lives in Charlotte.

I caught up with Greg this morning and I asked him what some of his favorite moments from 2014 were. He had a hard time answering because there were just too many to count. After twisting his arm, however, he said, “Working on It’s Supernatural, conducting a sold out FX class at Spooky Empire as a guest speaker, and participating in the national Chairi Walk which made over $15,000 in donations for finding a cure all made in one weekend!”  You rock Greg and we can’t wait to see you on Face Off tomorrow night! Set your DVRs folks!

Hunter over at the Star News has a nice story on Greg.  READ NOW

With Sleepy Hollow wrapping next week, the feature film Bolden will be the only project shooting in North Carolina (unless you count the two reality shows that only hire a handful of crew.)

It’s mind blowing that South Carolina, a state with no film infrastructure, can land project after project. Yeah, go ahead, chime in after that statement. I could go for days. So, if you’re up to traveling for work, this is the latest scoop in regards to South Carolina. (PS – The SC Gov Nikki Haley gets it! )

danny-mcbride-jody-hillMost of you already know, but in case you missed it, Danny McBride and Jody Hill’s HBO series Vice Principals set up offices last week in Charleston. Two days after I announced it, the SC Media had a field day with that news.  They are shooting 18 episodes. Our local boy David Brightbill’s got this one, so all you Homeland/Secrets and Lies folks, you probably already know that too.

The psychological thriller Faceless has set up shop in Charleston and are projected to begin production on or around February 15th. Marcel Sarmiento is directing.

RobertKirkmanNYCCI am also hearing Robert Kirkman’s Outcast is going to series. They shot the pilot last month in Rock Hill, SC for Cinemax. That will be good for the Charlotte (Banshee/Paper Towns) crew as they I heard they will stay in Rock Hill.  As soon as I get more details, I will let you know.

Reg E. Cathey (St. Vincent), Julia Crockett (The Absence), Wrenn Schmidt (Boardwalk Empire)  and Kip Pardue (Ray Donovan) have been cast opposite Patrick Fugit in Cinemax’s new exorcism drama Outcast, from The Walking Dead executive producer Robert Kirkman. Based on a comic by Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta, Outcast follows follows Kyle Barnes (Fugit), a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers, but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.

Not a lot of action today in Wilmywood, but we’ll start off with who’s on location today?  The cast and crew of NBC’s Revolution is doing a night shoot at Water St. Parking Deck.  Weather permitting, of course.

Under The Dome, will be at the old cement factory later today.  That is such a cool location and has been used for dozens of flicks shooting here.  So far, the weather has not cancelled the shoot.

FYI:  The local crews here have given rave reviews about working on these shows.  The Revolution cast are becoming family to many and as far as Under The Dome, everybody LOVES Stephen King.  They think he is such a great guy.  Very laid back and doesn’t have an ego.  That’s is great to hear!

Moving on to Late Night TV.

Jimmy Fallon has Melissa McCarthy on tonight which I am hoping she will be talking about her upcoming movie, “Tammy,” that’s being shot here in Wilmington.  More importantly I hope she brings up WHERE they are shooting.  Production begins around May 6th.

Also in May is what I have been talking about for the past month.  Port City Pop Con will be May 10th & 11th at the Wilmington Convention Center. Just a reminder that their special advanced ticket price will end this week, so if you want tickets, get ’em now and save some dough!

That just about does it for me; I will have more Wilmywood updates for you tomorrow and every morning (Monday-Friday) at 8:30am.  Until then, that’s a wrap!

The folks from Under the Dome and Revolution had a kick butt time at WonderCon in Anaheim over the weekend.  They are back in Wilmington and ready to shoot.

Under the Dome is heading back to Metts Ave at Wallace Park then heading to Chestnut St. for a quick scene today, as long as the weather holds out.

As for Revolution, they are still asking for some pedestrians…so, if you would like to be an extra on the show, they need fresh faces for tomorrow Go here to be a part of season one.

Now, I told you on Friday that Warner Brothers was showing unaired parts to Revolution at WonderCon , well they cave now released it, Check it out the link below!

And of course, Revolution is on tonight, the truth about how the world lost power… will finally come to light!

Okay now onto some fresh stars coming into the Port City?  What does the Wayne’s World, The Walking Dead and The Neverending Story have in common?   The stars will all be in Wilmington in May!!  And you get the chance to meet them!  Tia Carrere, Noah Hathaway (who played Atreyu) plus yes cast members of THE WALK DEAD!

They will all be at Port City Pop Con May 10th & 11th! At the Wilmington Convention Center.
