THE WILMYWOOD DAILY 05/05/2014 – Day one for Sleepy Hollow, Max Steel, NC Film Rally and more.

Wow what a weekend.

MaxSteel050314_0218On Saturday, it was media day for Max Steel and let me tell you it look less than a week for the producers and actors to absolutely fall in love with our Wilmington Film crew. Proving that, they all showed up to the Film Rally yesterday.  THANK YOU!  I will have more about Max Steel coming shortly!  This weekend just about killed me !  Ha! That is Ben Winchell on the left as Max McGrath in Mattel’s Max Steel. (image: David Pascua)

Saturday evening Lyndie Greenwood and Orlando Jones of Sleepy Hollow along with many other celebrities including David Andrews, Jane McNeill, Sydney Penny, and Peter Jurasik attended the “Send a Cop to College event.”  It was successful and a huge thank you to Warren Kennedy and his gang who put on quite a dinner at CFCC Union Station.

NCFilmRally050414_0057

And of course, the fabulous and amazing NC Film Rally.  Wow!  You are incredible!  Thank you so much for attending.  Although some media is claiming “hundreds” showed up, we surpassed 1,000 in attendance.  SEE PICS AND GET DEETS NOW.

AshliBogartDay one for Sleepy Hollow and they are ready to kick off the action today on the sound stages!  Woo Hoo!  And with that being said, they of course, are casting like mad.  Extras Casting Director Ashli Bogart has a specific casting call.  If you know someone who fits this description, help her out!

Fox’s Hit series Sleepy Hollow is in search of a Little Person to work a paid extras position in an episode on the second season.

The scene is set to be filmed in Wilmington, NC on May 15th, but that is always subject to change. The extra should be prepared to work a night shoot that could last 12-14 hours. This position will require special effects makeup.

We are looking for a Male Little Person between ages 18 and 45. If available and interested please e-mail sleepyhollowextra@gmail.com.

Included in the e-mail should be a recent photo, wardrobe sizes, height, location and contact information.

The award honors those who have an impact in the local film community. The winners (yes, there were two) were Peggy Farrell and Jeff Goodwin. Peggy is an Emmy award winning costume designer and Jeff specializes in FX and make-up. Congratulations to everyone who participated and were nominated!

Mattel’s Max Steel is two weeks away from going into production and they are prepping like mad. My sources tell me that Max McGrath himself, Ben Winchell could be arriving as soon as this weekend in Wilmywood! His counterpart Ana Villafane who plays Sydney Gardner should be arriving soon after.

sleepy hollow 2A surprising turn of events came out yesterday regarding FOX’s Sleepy Hollow. It looks as though the massive production will be going in a different direction when it comes to background talent.  A new extras casting director was named for season two.  Ashli Bogart will be taking on the monster that is Sleepy Hollow.  READ MORE.

timguinee And speaking of flying in, Wilmywood welcomes writer/director Charlie Kaufman into town. He’s gearing up for FX’s How and Why which begins production at the end of the month. And guess who is making a return! Just as Revolution’s Graham Rogers came back for Red Zone, we welcome another Revolution alum back for our FX pilot. Tim Guinee, who played Danny’s father on Rev, is returning for the comedy pilot. As I was checking in with the handsome devil as I do from time to time, I got the exciting news confirmed yesterday. “I’m really excited to come back to Wilmington,”  Tim said. “It’s like coming home.”  Although Tim has been all over the place filming TV shows and features, he’s been in NC quite a lot for our Charlotte show, Homeland.  Welcome back,  Tim! We love you!

And since it is Throwback Thursday, he’s a hilarious memory from 2012! NBC’s Revolution star David Lyons donated money to inflict pain on his cast members during our radiothon – Sorry Tim Guinee, but it’s flu shot time!

Under the Dome is headed back to the Brooklyn Arts District again so get ready for some road closures and some snap, crackle, booms and pops.  Yes, they get to play with loud toys again.  They will be off tomorrow for Good Friday and will resume shooting Monday in Wilmington.

Heading over to Charlotte for a spell, the feature film Max which starts production in a few weeks has announced more cast members for their “war dog”  flick.  Joining Josh Wiggins are Thomas Haden Church and Jay Hernandez.

And congrats to Banshee‘s Geno Segers and Afton Williamson. They were just upgraded to series regulars! Woop Woop! Congrats!

Make sure to check out the CW’s Primetime News at 10pm tonight as I will bring you all the Wilmywood news for the week via boob tube with “What’s Up In Wilmywood.”

From Revolution to Red Zone: Graham Rogers is Back!

by April Vickery and Sheila Brothers

graham-rogers2

‘REDZONE’ is on a roll today! We are so pleased to add Graham Rogers to the cast!

Graham_SheilaGraham is known to us in Wilmywood for his role of “Danny Matheson” on ‘REVOLUTION.’  Pictured, he was really involved in the  Wilmywood community as he and his other cast members David Lyons and Tim Guinee helped us during the Sunny 104.5 Caring for Kids Radiothon for NHRMC a couple of years ago.  They even let us give them flu shots!   You probably also saw him play the role “Carson” in the film ‘CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR‘ with fellow hearththrob Nick Jonas.

Graham will be playing the role of “Jake” in ‘REDZONE‘.

Graham is a powerful actor and leading man these days, but will always hold a place in my heart as the cute boy who shouts, ‘Can I get a hot tub?!’ in the State Farm ads.

As always, we are glad to have Graham’s energy and contagious smile in Wilmywood!

timguineeTim Guinee (Charlie’s father from Season One of NBC’s Revolution) is back in North Carolina, but this time is is for our other NC hit show, Homeland. While he was in Charlotte, he had to sound off and be his usual grateful self complimenting the writers, the cast and the NC Film crew.  I had a quick exchange with Tim this morning and he said:

“Being a graduate of UNCSA in Winston-Salem, it’s always great to come back to work in North Carolina. So glad there’s so much work here.”  He went on in support of our NC Film Incentives, “I hope the state is smart enough to keep the tax incentives which are above all such a great thing for the NC economy. It would be sad to see all those jobs pack up and move to another state as it so often happens.”

Tim, we love your support and we definitely glad you are back in NC for a few days!  Love to you my friend!

Our Under the Dome creator Stephen King join the ladies on The View today 11am EST He’s there of course to talk about his new book, but I am sure they touch upon the success of our show.

nickGI have to say I love when our stars give shout-outs to the local restaurants.  This time it was Nick Gonzalez aka Detective Luke Morales on Sleepy Hollow who gave some kudos to Roko and Manna, which are of course two of the many favorite restaurants of the stars that pass through Wilmywood.  Thanks Nick! We appreciate you talkin’ local!

BREAKING NEWS: NBC’s Revolution leaves ILM for the Lone Star State

An email went out late last night to the crew of Revolution which revealed the NBC show is leaving North Carolina and heading to Austin, TX for Season 2.

Show creator Eric Kripke wrote:

“To An INCREDIBLE Crew —

Hey everyone. So I wanted to thank you, sincerely and from the bottom of my
heart, for the absolutely amazing work on Revolution Season 1. Time and
again, you pulled off the biggest show on network television. Every week,
we gave you the impossible, and yet you always executed beautifully. You
guys can accomplish anything. So thank you for the skill, the talent,
and for the incredibly hard work– and long hours– and time away from your
families. It means a lot to me, and you have my undying gratitude.

I also wanted to let you know that, unfortunately, we’ll be moving the show
to Austin, TX, for Season 2. This is not a decision that was made easily or
taken lightly. We agonized over it. And we really regret losing such a
terrific crew. Seriously.

Please know that when I have a show back in Wilmington, I’d hire any of you
in a second. I’m sure our paths will cross again. Until then, I wish you
the absolute best. And again, warmly, thank you– for the hard work, and
for your beautiful town.”

So the question is WHY?

I see that some people are blaming politicians, and while I appreciate the spirit, I don’t think it had anything to do with that.  TX’s Film incentives aren’t so hot, either.  Check them out!  From what people are telling me, there are mixed reports.  Some said location scouts didn’t like what they saw in Texas.  Other said the opposite.  I heard they wanted to start back up in June, not September.  Wow!  Texas in June….Good luck with no ocean air!  Poor makeup artists!  Hopefully, we will find out why they left.  I will keep you posted.
