THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 10/16/2015 Tidbits for the week

TNT’s Good Behavior starring Michelle Dockery and Juan Diego Botto has had some great weather for filming this week. They’ve been to Manna, Isaac’s Men’s Store, and Salt Works to name a few. Today they head to EUE/Screen Gems and trek out to Currie next week.

blakecrouchI’m gettin’ a really good feelin’ about this one. I smell a pick up! Let’s hope they return to Wilmywood if they do! Chad, Blake…are you listening? We would love to see you back here in 2016!

You know what else I am hearing? “Everyone is so nice!” From the producers to the director to the actors, I keep hearing what a great group they are to work with.

The Low Budget Faith-based Feature Film titled Restoration will be coming to Wilmington for a big high school wrestling match scene. They need non-paid extras at Williston Middle School this Saturday the 17th. Email if you can work and for more details.

Finally, it’s Tim Robbins’ birthday! Let’s celebrate  by remembering The Hudsucker Proxy that was filmed right here in Wilmywood. Here’s the best scene showcasing downtown Wilmington when they filmed here in 1993. The movie was released in ’94. Enjoy the clip above!

Happy Anniversary This Week to Two Wilmywood Flicks

by April Vickery
AmosAndrewOn March 5th, AMOS & ANDREW became officially legal, turning the ripe age of 21!
This film is about a writer named Andrew who is mistaken in his new vacation home for a burglar. The character of Amos is thrown in the mix of the problems Andrew is already facing by the local police chief. Samuel L. Jackson plays the lead of Andrew and Nicholas Cage is Amos.

Although set in New England, some scenes were shot in and around Wilmington. Samuel L. Jackson later returned as the eye patch wearing leader of S.H.I.E.L.D, Nick Fury in the Wilmywood film Iron Man 3. Maybe you’ve heard of it?

The_Hudsucker_Proxy_MovieAnd today, one of my favorites THE HUDSUCKER PROXY turns 20! If you haven’t seen this one, then we can’t be friends. Labeled, rightfully as a “screwball comedy”, the story follows a business school graduate who becomes president of a manufacturing company as part of a scam. Tim Robbins, who was romantically linked Wilmywood star, Susan Sarandon of TAMMY plays the lead. Another Wilmywood leading man, Paul Newman (MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE) is the supporting actor who hires Tim Robbins’ wide eyed graduate student.

Few scenes were shot in Wilmington including one of the more memorable ones that showcased hula hoops rolling the alleys and streets in downtown Wilmywood. Purchase both of these titles in the Wilmywood Amazon Shop!

Happy release date!

THE WILMYWOOD DAILY – 12/20/2013 Another Movie for NC, Eric Laden, Encore’s Best Of and More!

gold45revolverWriter/Producer Elliot McGucken is taking his award winning screenplay, “The Legend of McCoy Mountain & The Gold 45 Revolver” to the silver screen, and my sources tell me as it stands, they will be shooting this flick in LA, New York and North Carolina.  I am still waiting to hear back on exactly where in NC they will be filming.  Let’s hope their plans don’t change! The movie is about Mary McCoy and her boyfriend who head on up McCoy Mountain to film the ghost of Civil War abolitionist Johnny Ranger McCoy for Mary’s Sundance documentary.  They end up finding out firsthand if Johnny’s Gold 45 Revolver really does fire lightning in the hands of heroes willing to give that last, full-measure of devotion.  Look for this production to start up in the Spring.

Remember the indie flick Riverguard that shot here this past summer?  Eric Ladin, the lead in the Wilmywood shot movie has been cast as a regular in The Brink, HBO’s pilot directed by Jay Roach from a script by Roberto Benabib and Kim Benabib and exec produced by Jerry Weintraub. The Brink is an epic dark comedy focusing on a geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men: U.S. Secretary of State Walter Hollander (Tim Robbins); Alex Coppins (Jack Black), a lowly Foreign Service officer; and Zeke Callahan (Pablo Schreiber), an ace Navy fighter pilot. Ladin will play Lieutenant Glenn Taylor, Callahan’s ace wingman.
