Our Wilmywood shot flick, The Longest Ride, hit theaters this weekend, and here are the box office numbers.
1. “Furious 7,” $60.6 million ($195 million international).
2. “Home,” $19 million
3. “The Longest Ride,” $13.5 million
4. “Get Hard,” $8.6 million
5. “Cinderella,” $7.2 million
6. “The Divergent Series: Insurgent,” $6.9 million
7. “Woman in Gold,” $5.9 million.
8. “It Follows,” $2 million.
9. “Danny Collins,” $1.6 million.
10. “While We’re Young,” $1.4 million.

Toonstone_wildmessTomorrow is the big day for our local production company, Hank and Jed Movie Pictures. Their first animated feature film, Toonstone, will be released via iTunes, Xbox, Amazon, Google Play, and Video on Demand. In case you didn’t know, Hank and Jed have become You Tube stars thanks to their hugely popular series, Battlefield Friends.

WECT reports UNCW got the green light to start a Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking degree during a meeting of the UNC Board of Governors Friday. It’s a 3 year program and you can sign your name on the dotted line for that in the fall of 2016. READ MORE NOW

Toonstone gets a release date, pre-order available now!

Toonstone, the first animated feature film from the Wilmington, NC-based production company Hank and Jed Movie Pictures (creators of the massively popular web series Battlefield Friends), will launch Tuesday, April 14, 2015. It will be available via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Xbox, Vudu and nationwide On Demand via The Orchard.

Toonstone is a western comedy about a country musician named Dalton, who becomes the sheriff of Toonstone after killing several outlaws…by accident. With the help of his smooth talking horse and metro-sexual Indian sidekick, Dalton faces down the worst threats imaginable as he chases outlaws, aliens and his ultimate dream…his music.

Not only do you get the deliciousness of the Hank and Jed boys: Brent Triplett, Tony Schnur, Nate Panning, Bryan Mahoney, and Jon Etheridge, but you will also hear some familiar local voices such as Cullen Moss, Aerli Austen, Matt Warzel, Shaun O’Rourke, John Marchioni. Hell, I’m even in it! Ha!
